What's the deal with the "armies"?

A brief forage through General Zelda has brought to my attention the existence of a few threads mentioning "armies", where members submit ideas for various things and shout at each other about why their "army" is the best. I've also recently heard of something called a "humuliation army", though I haven't seen much indication of what it is. Can anyone tell me what this is all about?

I have no idea what is up with the three armies you showed, but the Humulation Arny is basicly just a fancy friend list for humulos. We don't actually do anything, it's just a banner, really.

Thanks for bringing this up Pandy--I was under the impression that no threads could be started (outside the Advertising section) for clubs, "armies," or the like? But maybe I'm just reading it wrong. I've seen threads like that in the General Zelda section, and they don't look like they belong, IMHO.

Erk, I didn't think these had spread outside the Advertising forum. Threads for "ZU armies" and the like aren't allowed. They're allowed to have them in their signatures, but unless they are advertising an actual website, the threads are just considered spam.

It's just the ugly offspring of the fan club fad. More people jumping onto my bandwagon. Well, other than the Humulos one, that was the result of Humulos having to leave ZU for two years, I believe, and has been around for a while. I'll try to get this mess cleaned up.

Yeah, the club fad got way out of hand.

I made the original one as a joke resulting from a conversation with Scott about whether this guy in the chatroom who said that I should be promoted (Artorium) was an alternate account of mine or just my fan club president. I thought the idea was funny so I asked Artorium if he wanted to start my fan club as the president, and he said yes. P:

Unfortunately, over the next week, at least 25 (I lost count after 10 <_<) different people came and hopped onto my bandwagon and spammed up the forums with fan clubs until all the fun had been milked out of the idea. I thought it had finally died down until yesterday, when I found 7 (so far) "ZU club" threads, and I assume an innumerable number of clubs that didn't bother to make a thread. I got rid of the ones in advertising, but I don't have power in the Zelda sections, so I need to get another mod to help me with those ones.

Hmm. I think this is a sign that I'm not paying enough attention to the Zelda boards; stuff like this is not acceptable.
