Log in Problem

For the first time ever, I'm having some log in difficulties. For some unknown reason, when I type the site url (http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums) into my address bar it brings me to the site as normal, but it asks me to log in. I have always had "remember me" selected, but the site seems to have chosen to forget me. Now, my problem doesn't end there. When I type in my username and password, and select log in, the page refreshes itself, exactly the same way it was, only I still am not logged in, and the username and password fields are blank once more. So, effectively, I am unable to log onto the forums.

I have found a way of accessing them but it is pretty roundabout and unnecessary. I go to my e-mail inbox, find a message from ZU, click on the link and it brings me there, where, luckly, I am logged in.

So, could someone explain to me why I am unable to log in? I'm not having this problem on any other sites I've been using so I don't think it's down to my browser.

Try clearing the private data,it did it to me last time then i cleared private data and there i was logged in^^

OH! Same here, it's been happening since this morning- *doesnt have any idea why it's happening and also has remember me selected,* but I found if I clicked on "todays posts" while I was logged out it brings me back to being logged in! ^_^ Same with clicking on any link other than..."forums" which is what logs me out I think..nnn..*just thought she'd say that she's having the same problems*

I don't think this can be solved by clearing anything, since I'm having the same problem as the other two, and it's only been since this morning. I don't even know how I logged in right now, but it probably wasn't the right way, I can tell you that much.

I had the same problem starting last night. I cleared my cache and stuff this morning and still nothing, until just a second ago when strangely enough I got logged in after putting in the wrong password. It took me to the invalid password screen, yet I was still shown as being logged in after that. So I guess it just took a second to catch up to a previous log-in attempt.

Whew, I thought I was the only one with this problem. I did clear all the cookies and stuff, but still had some difficulties. I use Opera and I used the Magic Wand to try to log in, but encountered the same problem as Galedeep.

I had the same problem starting a few seconds ago! I don't know what you're using, but i'm using firefox and i cleared everything, personal data, passwords, history, etc. and it's now working for me.

would bring you to this page does not exist sorta deal.

well Scott sort of fixed it seeing as how you can get to the page, but now you can't log in

with the two slashes, and you will not have log in problems

But yeah it was weird, it said I was logged in.. but it turned out I wasn't.. then all of a sudden I was, wth?

I have rpoblems too, earlier. I still have that problem, just now when I logged in.

When you log in at the home page and it doesn't log in, click forgot password, it logs you in from the first try, then just click User Cp, then whatever it is you want to do.

This isn't working for me... I just pressed the forum button under the banner and it automaticly logs me out... Major problems perhaps?

'm having the sasme problem. It can easilt be fixed by clicking on basically any link that leads you to somewhere else on the forums.

For example, if you click on general chit-chat, you're in. (if you use remember me)

Yeah, this isn't a cookies thing.

Essentially, the problem with the stuff is that the cookies see zeldauniverse.net and http://www.zeldauniverse.net as different. Assuming it were enabled you could conceivably be logged in with separate usernames on zeldauniverse.net and http://www.zeldauniverse.net. However, our current settings on the boards make it so that ALL links and redirects of the forums tack on the www. to everything, ensuring that you never use zeldauniverse.net (though it IS exactly the same).

That's enabled because of the crazy amounts of URL rewriting the server does (this should be showthread.php?id=#### rather than something readable).

So, the problem was that when you log in from zeldauniverse.net without the www., the login script redirects to www.*, performs the login reaction, and then returns you to the previous location (zeldauniverse.net), which technically being on a different sub-domain, you are not logged in from (as far as cookies are concerned).


So, problem's fixed in that typing zeldauniverse.net/forums and whatever in the end will automatically add the www.

I'm having trying trouble logging in too. I enter my password correctly, but it says it's the wrong password? WTF. Halp please.
