No April Fools?

I know this will probably be closed, but why didn't you tell everyone that the $2000 was actually for your personal use (or something like that) as an April Fools joke? Everyone would have freaked out!

Have you been living under a rock or are you ignorant.

Don't you know about the April Fools joke that they already did. One was enough, two would just be annoying.

Because that would have seriously pissed people off. Also could have brought on all sorts of fun lawsuits in a worst-case scenario, for those who didn't get the joke.

The intention of the April Fool's Joke was to be fun, not to make people angry or upset. While that may have unfortunately happened in some cases, it was never the intention. Telling people the money raised was going to buy Jason a new motorcycle would have done nothing but caused a lot of negativity.

I think the amount of people who left because of the first one was ridiculous.
Why double the amount?

SSBB Code: 2664-1977-4287 Phantom Hourglass Code: Hourglasses are outdated. Get a clock. Mario Kart DS Code: But I wasn't speeding, officer! Metroid Prime: Hunters Code: Hunting is wrong. Animal Crossing DS Code: Stay out of my town, dammit!
The first joke was enough of a fiasco. This joke would only cause more negativity. Plus, as Galedeep said, people could sue Jason for decieving them into thinking that the $2000 they donated was for ZU's new layout, when in actuality it was used for Jason to spend on himself.

To put it bluntly: There's April Fools. Then there's being an ass.

The other idea was more epic, but I guess that spending the $2000 on personal effects would've outraged people moreso than the bet. Or not. But still, more epic was the other one

That's the problem! Everyone would freak out that much that they would probably sue ZU for taking money from people.

April Fool's Jokes are usually at the emotional expense of one or more individuals. Thus, I'm not a big supporter of this tradition.

Google did have a very cool one this year, though... and it was done w/o taxing the emotions of anyone. It was just a good laugh.

Gmail was highlighting a new feature that would allow the sender of e-mail to back-date the message. Basically you would never be "late" again.

It was just a hoax, of course; they didn't actually give folks the ability to backdate e-mail.

The VERY first thing I said to Dennis (Capn Cornflake) when we first discussed the April Fool's joke was "we can't say ANYTHING about the donation money -we have to keep the revamp project intact in full or people will throw a fit." And some people DID throw a fit because they thought their donation money was gone, or not being used,or was spent by someone despicable not worthy of a donation.

Needless to say, it would have been a horrible disaster if we had done anything that implied the site was being seriously harmed or that the donators' money was being spent for other means than what they donated. I also believe it's not legal (neverminding the ethical aspects of it) to spend donation money on projects other than what they were stated for.

I know, I was just kinda dissapointed by your April Fool's joke. It didn't seem to affect me that much.

I liked the diagrams on it, though. They had white outlinepeople going in sewer diagrams. It was awesome looking.
