I second the motion to have the banners removed, but I don't think any penalty should occur unless in cases of obvious and blatant refusal. Also, out of respect for the situation, I will edit out the "Farore RIP" section of my sig pertaining to the April Fool's joke.

Alternatively, if you see someone with such a banner, and the user is not online or has been since the making of the thread, post a link to the profile in this thread, and a moderator with the correct powers can remove it right away.

Give it some time. It hasn't even been hours yet.
I'd say give it SEVERAL days for everyone to notice. We had incredibly high traffic levels during the event and most likely still do. Majority of people will notice in a day. For some, it may take longer. However, the site itself will be back to normal this afternoon.

I would say anyone who still has it in a week - provided that they have signed on in that time- should be sent a message telling them to change it, and then if they do not comply, be permabanned

I don't see why there should be a punishment at all. It takes seconds for a mod to delete a sig or user title, etc, and unless the user flaunts Capn's apparent death nonstop, it can hardly be seen as insensitive.
Plus, ever heard of freedom of speech? Even though this is a forum, censorship is rarely a good thing.

He's alive, and it's been confirmed. There was a select few people who were trying to pull a direct prank on Captain himself, and Captain has already admitted, over a phone conversation, that he is very upset at the parties, and that he had absolutely NO KNOWLEDGE of this prank even occuring. So uh... yeah... it's a moot point. Cap is alive and well, as those "*******s" are already being hunted down for termination. |
