Downloading Threads?

I was once on a vBulletin forum where download an entire thread, up to that point, in .txt format. It's a great way to save stuff you'd like to keep or something you could take with you to read if you couldn't access the forums under under circumstances throughout the day. Also great if you need to get offline for some reason. You could hurry up and download the thread, then read it while you're offline!

Heck, you could have both. They're simple to install and are harmless, yet great features that would be perfect for ZU! I'm sure it would also make a great tool for the RP section. I know I'd make good use of it, since I'd very much like to archive my ZU Kombat games offline in such a format.

Pros: A great asset to the forums. Great for those who'd like to download threads for various reasons. Easy to install. Won't hinder ZU in any way. You have nothing to lose in giving ZU such a little, yet great feature!

Cons: There are none!

...entire thread in one file? You mean I wouldn't have to copy/paste post after post?

That's right! It proves even more useful if the thread is very large in post count. ^_^

This sounds like a good idea! This would save time and a lot of hassle for mods.

I don't think it would make a difference to mods, but I want to see this happen.

Can't you just go File -> Save Page As...

I did that once to a page in a forum long long ago. I'm not sure if every picture on the page was still there after I looked at it, but most of it was.

No. That's extremely annoying and doesn't save an entire thread. It also takes longer to do. :/

It also isn't nearly as convenient.

That wouldn't do any good if the thread had more than one page. You'd have to save them all individually.

What's the point of downloading a thread? You can just bookmark it.

Sure, it's going to get deleted, but how long are you going to need to keep it? Not that long, I don't think.

Here's a con for you: it's practically useless.

Read my first post. There are plenty of reasons why someone would want to download a thread. And, again, it does you no harm. If you don't like it, simply don't use it.

That remains to be seen. I'd use it all the time for ZU Kombat and the Din lounge. Not to mention I:SB, and it would make a great tool in the RP section. Other people could use it for different things. It's great for on-the-go reading! ^_^
