Upgrading to vB 3

Will ZU upgrade of vBulletin 3 when Gold is released?

Time will show. For the time being I don't have much faith in vB3, but I'm hoping that'll change when gold roles around.

What what this one have that the others don't?

Most likely more control over what Moderators/Administrators can do, more layout flexibility, easier to code, change features, etc.. It probably won't make a huge difference for the average user.

I see no need, anyway.

Maybe upgrades to the "Merging Threads" function?

Heh, that's the kind of thing I'm talking about, Chuc. It's really a pain to do...especially for the untrained ones. ;p

I HATE VB3. I hope we never upgrade to it...

Yea, vB3 imo lacks the professionality of vB2. Was just wondering since other sites were using vB3 gamma or RC.

DiVinEDraGooN, vB3 has bit more features such as the subscription options if I remember correctly, but not big different.


P.S. I'd rather like ZU forums to stay in vB2. Just vB3's template systems don't look so much attractive.

subscription option? we have one where you can subscribe to a whole forum, but does that one let you subscribe to an individual topic or something?

... either way, after all the switching between phpbb and vb, i've started to get used to this, but would be fine switching. though if the new one is less-professional-looking than the current one, then what would the point be?

I like VB2 only because i am used to it, i would say that soemthing would have to show leaps and bounds of improvement to want to upgrade to it. This works fine for everyone, correct? And everyone is used to it.

PS, can anyone link me to a forum that uses VB3 for a glance at it?

Hey, if we do go to 3, will all the threads delete and we'll have to start all over again like we did in June? I remember that, it was nuts...^_^

I saw the layout for vB3...I guess it would be all right, but I've grown used to the way it is now. And I guess we would have to delete all the threads and start all over....heh I joined like a week after they changed the forums...lucky me.

To see a Release Candidate 3 of vBulletin, go to vbulletin.com's community. They run it there obviously.

Subscription I think was like you can pay to subscribe to a certain forum and only paid members can access that forum.

If the forums are upgraded, then I don't think we'll lose all threads and posts.
