Site acting up again?

Lately I've been experiencing huge lagging issues with ZU. It would seem that this occurs mostly during european daytime (GMT +3 for me). The weirdest thing is that when I try to post a reply it doesn't register right away. I click the Submit New Reply button and get a message that the network connection is lost. This is strange because all the other sites download normally. After several attempts I usually give up and check back later.

When I come back to the forum page which displays all the threads, it doesn't show that I have posted on the thread, instead it shows the person who had posted before me. When I look at the thread, my post is there, but it hasn't been added to my post count. Nor has it added to the number that indicates how many replies that thread has gotten.

This isn't the first time this has happened. Now that it seems reoccur constantly, I decided to report it.

Re: Site acting up again?

Yeah, the same exact thing is happening to me and I live in a European timezone as well. Sometimes when I post a reply, I just get a blank screen and have to refresh and I sometimes wind up triple posting or something by mistake.

And sometimes pages don't load and I have to yet again rely on the refresh button. This doesn't happen with any other sites on my computer and I can't blame Firefox because it loads other pages just fine. It's just ZU that lags.

It's mainly in the forum that it happens, though. It's not so bad on the main page or in the gallery or a part of the site other than the forum. It would be really great if Scotty or someone would fix this problem because it's getting annoying. >.<

Re: Site acting up again?

This seems to happen every monday to me. I'm guessing it happens for a reason if it's a weekly occurrence. I'm not sure though.

Re: Site acting up again?

Same thing for me... But I get something different: When I do a quick reply and click on submit I get into advanced mode and I see the message "This forum requires you to wait 30 seconds before you can post". I suppose that's the flood control system but I haven't posted recently and I still get that message. What's really weird is that my message actually got posted.

Re: Site acting up again?

You know, I might not be a mod, but I think I can help us out. I'll contact Scotty and have him look into the problem because this is just crazy. I've never seen ZU's server act up like this and I think something should be done about it as soon as possible. It would be too much of a pain to wait for Scotty or someone to just notice the thread and it would be better to get his attention on this right away.

I think they check this section quite regularly. Scott also lives on the other side of the planet, which means he probably won't get it until late tonight.

The funny thing is that I got the same mesage when I posted this thread. (I had to repost )

EDIT: It happened again and I got a chance to get the error message:
Quote:
"Safari can’t open the page “http://www.zeldauniverse.net/forums/...t=62312”. The error was: “lost network connection” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005)"
Safari is the browser I use.

EDIT: This post is a good example of what happen to me. Check the Feedback, Suggestions & Questions page to see that there are less posts reported than there really is.

I know, but it's better than waiting for him to notice the thread. Pages keep taking so long to load for me now. In fact, before I checked this thread, it said I was the last person to post and now I come in here and see Uncle Meat was actually the last one.

This is so annoying! >.<

Re: Site acting up again?

In General Zelda currently, it hasn't shown the latest topics in timeline theories section. And that white page problem is constantly happening to me. It's when I go onto the index, into a section, into a topic, or posting a reply. It's a 50/50 chance whether it happens or not, which is unacceptable.

EDIT: Lol! It happened whilst posting this! How ironic...

Re: Site acting up again?

I've had this too, but not to the same degree as you guys have. Over the last couple of days, several times when I've tried to post I get the "this forum requires you to wait 30 seconds before posting another message" alert, and earlier on today I was completely unable to access the Timeline section altogether.

Re: Site acting up again?

Well.. I know Mondays (my time, at least) are generally server checks.
But I've noticed a few posting/loading problems recently.
Maybe they'll clear up after this server check.

Re: Site acting up again?

^I'm glad to know It's not just my dodgy internets. I've had this for about a week now, eratic bouts of lag. I sometimes send about three PMs because the message is being sent, but the inbox page isn't loading.

But the ol' trusty ZU will be sorted out soon enough. *Taps hull*. See? Norwegian wood.

Re: Site acting up again?

I've had similar problems, so maybe it's not just those who live in European time zones, for I live in the eastern United States, on GMT -5 Eastern Time (US and Canada), Bogota, and Lima. I've been experiencing these problems for nearly a month now, I'd say. I'm mostly on in the late morning and afternoon, and when I come on in the evening or night the problems seem less frequent.

Re: Site acting up again?

I've been having bits of those problems too. The site does seem to be moving extremely slow, and I often have to refresh a page to get it to show. It gets alittle bit annoying, but I was just guessing it was the laptop being weird. I've been having a major problem with links recently though, with just about anything I click freezing the window. (In other words, the ZU screen is frozen in place but the rest of the windows and programs still run) so I'd assume that they're related issues. The problems seem to have appeared either around the time of the Graphics School or around the time that a fourth skin was added... Or I could be totally wrong. But yes, the problems with the forums are in Maryland too.

EDIT: Major lag with a window not loaded when I clicked the "Post Quick Reply" button...

EDIT 2: And it slowed again when I told it to save changes to the post... Hurray for the "Refresh Page" button.

EDIT 3: Hmm... Apparently I'm Stony now, seeing as she was the last one to post in this thread yet I can't see her post or the second page of this thread...
