Bringing back old threads

I never do this or anything, but I notice the mods and admins don't like it when members post and bring back dead threads. What is it that you guys don't like about doing it?

Remember I don't do it or its not like I'm saying "ou guys are so stupid for doing that!" I'm just curious on why you all don't like it.

Re: Bringing back old threads

It's just kind of annoying when someone takes a long dead topic and revives it. I mean, the conversation there is long dead. It's better to just start a completely new thread.

Re: Bringing back old threads

The general fact that like Sear said the conversation in them are dead and suddenly a dead conversation is in the middle of 'goo' newer conversations is what is bad. Even if at the time the conversations were good, there is no reason for someone that didn't express their feeling then, even thif they weren't around, to need to. By that point whatever point they ahve on the matter is kinda useless, if people still cared the thread never would have died in the first place.

It's just tedious to go through old garbage, especially because odds are, a mod is just gonna lock it soon so it will become a locked topic wall between 'good' topics.

Re: Bringing back old threads

I've seen a couple old threads allowed to remain open. Usually it's when a new point is brought up to continue a topic. Not, however, to disprove something old. Like, if there was a thread from 2001 saying that the GBA was going to be the last Game boy, and after the SP came out, someone brought it back and said, well, there's a new one out so ha.

Blah. I had more to say, but I forgot what it was.

Re: Bringing back old threads

But there is a dilema; you should not make up a thread where there already is one, but if you can't bring up old ones, we got a little rpoblem. Which is worse??

Re: Bringing back old threads

Take it this way. Most old threads are basically dead. Why? Because the discussion ended.

There's a trash can. You throw away your AA batteries because they are dead. I don't think anyone's going to go to the trash can, pick those dead batteries up, and try to use them.

Sort of the same thing. If it's dead, leave it dead unless a new point has been made for that topic, but then, you could just make a new thread about it.
