Sig problem

Okay, I have a big signature problem here. My sig somehow got deleted the other day, text and all. I don't know what happened. I never went to the User CP and deleted anything. Someone told me in MSN that a mod could have done it, but I don't see any reason why. My sig wasn't too big or anything. And I've had that sig for a couple weeks and nothing happened. The image and text are completely gone.

I'm not sure if I should put all my sig back, though, because it might get deleted again. Can someone help me with this problem? Cause have no idea why or how my sig would just vanish like that.

Did you untick the box just below your post that says "show my signature"?

It's not that. Because I went into the User CP after my sig disappeared and checked if it was there in the edit sig section. It wasn't. So it can't be that.

Well, I'm pretty sure you're a running joke for a couple of the chat members, so they might have gotten their mod/admin chat cronies to play a practical joke.

Other than that, I have no idea what happened. If a mod found your sig against the rules there would usually be a little mod note in place of the offending part.

I doubt it. The mods aren't allowed to do that. And I'm not joking about my sig problem either. The proof is right in front of you: No sig in my posts. It matched my avy too.

I don't think a mod did it at all because I would have probably gotten a PM about why they deleted it.

I have to agree with stony on this. Her sig was most likely not offending to anyone. All that she had was her beautiful signature picture, the list of who was her ZU friends, and I believe a few links thrown in there to possibly her writing or other things. I doubt that it was offending in any way, it looked like what other people may have put into thier sig.

I think that stony's sig problem is simply because the website server/ hoster is just screwing up somewhat which is messing around with different peoples accounts and such.

But here is another option of a solution. I have noticed numerous times lately while chaning my sig I would get an error saying that I can't go over 1300 charachters including VB code or something similar to that. So is it possible that stony's signature was for some reason over that 1300 limit of characters which led to the server automaticly deleting stony's signature? This seems like a logical opinion on what might have happened.

Exactly. But I don't think I went over the limit. That sig had been there for a couple weeks. It would have been deleted sooner than it had been if that was the case. And I still would have gotten a PM about it too, probably. I think it might have something to do with my sig's image being a filelodge uploaded pic. But still, why would my text be deleted with it if that was the problem?

What I am trying to say is that it is the server that is giving me this error saying that I can't go over the 1300 limit. Not a mod with a PM. So if you were to be over the limit the server would be the one to just delete it all without notice. And before a few days ago I had never gotten that error notice before so I think that this is new. If you read the Server Bug Thread you will notice that Insaney got that same error while doing things with his signature.

I would suggest going and trying your best to re-create your signature as close to as you can to how it was before it was deleted. Then when you go to preview your signature or to save it we will find out if it is the error's fault that your last one was deleted. If you are going over that 1300 limit you will be able to tell because a nice error box will appear instead of your signature. So if you go try that we can find out at least if it is the server's fault that your sig was deleted.

Your signature image was a .bmp. Which generally is an extremely large file size for images, and is not used alot on the internet. If this had something to do with the removal, I don't know, as all I can do is speculate.

Yami, why would all of my sig, including the text, be deleted if only my picture was the problem? Really, I'm going with what HiddenCorner said. I'll try that and see if it works.

Read my post more carefully. As I do not actually know, all I can do is speculate. I did not say that it was the cause for all of the text to be removed as well, but to be honest, I couldn't care less. Just write it out again, it's not hard.

Yami, though it is possible that becuase her image was .bmp it got deleted, that would not give reason as to why all the words that were in her sig along with with image would dissapear. If what you are saying is true, then stony would only notice her image gone and all of the words and other things there should still be there. Though I believe that it is possible that the .bmp may have something to do with the problem, I doubt that it is the soul issue with the missing signature.

Try adding your signature again.
If it goes *poof* again, then we will look into it.
There's no real way to look into this issue, that I'm aware of.

Hm, I must have missed something, because the text in my sig looked longer than in the preview I'm looking at. Oh well. It works, so I can use this sig. If it gets deleted again, I'll say so in here.

Well, it looks like your signature is working now, according to what I see in your profile.
Problem solved.

And mods only "take away sigs" if they are breaking rules :XD

at least that's what I do, anyway.
