Battle Arena

I think this should go under FSQ, correct me if i'm wrong, mods.

Has the battle arena lost it's luster? I rarely, if at all, see any new characters posted. No new fights are being posted as far as I can see and no one ever posts in battles, the two I'm in and any others that I know of. No one ever PMs me to battle and i haven't heard any talk lately about the ZU Battle Arena amongst my friends. So, has the BA lost the 'secret ingredient', or is it just me?

Re: Battle Arena

The BA has been on downhill since January, perhaps even before that. My BA generation (the six month incrument of BAers, my generation being the first half of 05 gen) was the last one that really put UMPH into their posts, with the few exceptions of the second half of 05 gen.

Meh, the whole place is beginning to loose its shine. I mean, about 10% of all the characters I take the time to approve aren't even used/looked at again.

I'm sure you agree with me, Bloodsword, Linkrules, H-A-B, Ry-san, etc.

Eh, and don't forget me . Yeah I really agree, the BA is going downhill and we as members need to do something about it. I guess people here now just don't find the same interest and excitement that they did before. Well I hope I can do something, maybe if we can get that project "Battle Royal" up and running again I may put a dent in the inactivness.

Good idea. ( I feel so important and helpful ^_^ ) The BA is and has been going downhill for a while, Battle Royal would be a good way to punch through the fiend of darkness we call Unpopular.

Bah, not neccesarily, but you just don't see a lot of characters anymore that really have a lot of effort put into them. A little while ago, I approved nineteen characters, and I believe only four were successfully approved. It just saddens me that some people aren't putting in that extra bit of effort.

As for the overall BA itself, I don't believe it's losing quality, it's the members that are currently making up a majority of the community. It's not that they're all without talent, but they seem to be rather lazy. They don't understand that they should be doing their personal best at all times, not just when it counts.

Anyway, out.

Re: Battle Arena

It's the characters you know, I just don't see too many new character ideas. When I go to the approval page, about half of them are even unique, the rest are generic.

I started BA back in June, but I try to put effort into my posts, I joined the school, and now I'm an advanced student. Many of us are dedicated to the BA and its fights, but most people give up because of the competition. It really is sad soemtimes when I see a fight that neither side is putting an effort into. I miss the intense battle I had a few months ago, my character Kenjin even got a rival in his first battle. I miss fights like that, where you feel you need to win at all costs.

The only fight I really look foreward to now is Chronos' fight with Axis in the Battle of the Sphere, in which I am preparing a killer finishing move as we speak.

Re: Battle Arena

Meh, the BA comes and goes in waves. You think you were the first to be in the BA, Safer? O_o

It was greatly active once, far before you joined. Then people lost interest for a while, then it picked up, died out, and about when you joined, it picked up again, I suppose. It's nothing to worry about, as it'll spring back to life sooner or later. ~_~

For the last time... NO, I DO NOT THINK SO. I know the BA was twenty times better in 03 and 04, and I'm not saying that I, or anyone else made it better. We're nowhere near as good as LR, Mute, Kishin, or any of the greats!

Sorry if this qualifies as spam, but because of a few "certain events", I've lost my happiness and am now in an omnipotently bad mood.

FOR A LONG TIME.

I unfortuantly did something like that, I'm starting to regret it. I really stuck with one character, and I should've stayed that way.

I remember that like it was yesterday, that was actually my first battle in an RP forum, ever. Once I finish intermidiete in the dome, I challenge you to another fight! Mwahaha!

Now I'm not to sure, little fuzzy on the details, but I think I may have been one of the first to start this whole quest thing... going around in the regular BA, there might have been another guy, not sure. Anyway that's what I mostly see now, or battles where the starter just don't post. (I'm not pointing the finger at you Linkrules, you gave a legitamate reason)

I remember when I first came to this site, I remember those big battles that Safer and WOTS and some others had, those were always fun to read... whatever happened to Drago, was he banned?

Someone needs to restart the BA with some excitement, or maybe a new twist, or even just demand more effort into the characters.

Re: Battle Arena

Drago, unfortunately, was banned -_- he's on my and COTA's site. He's a good BAer and should be unbanned, but oh well, can't be helped. Maybe the mods and admins should change the limit to how powerful your character is, get more approvers, make the BA more fun...Y'know, like tournaments, battle royale, army battles, alliance and rivalry threads, BA clans...

That's not a reason to unban someone. Drago broke the rules, he got three warnings and was banned. It was, however, a temporary ban, and he should be back in... *check* 16 days, give or take a few hours. When he returns, he'll be free from his old warnings.

Tournaments have been tried in the BA (I've participated in several) but they have the tendency to die out of lack of interest from the battlers. If you have a good idea for a tournament, I suggest you contact a BA mod about it.

EDIT: Although... it does seem like Drago has been avoiding his ban by creating another account. I will have to look into this further.

Heh, as flattering as that is, I'm kind of obligated to take that as a joke. I'm glad that people can refer to my skills as great, but I don't look at them that way. I always consider anyone, no matter how skilled, my equal. If I looked down on people, then arrogance would follow, and thus I would become less of what I strive to be.

However, I also tend not to look up to others either. I don't want to be like someone. I want to be like myself, lile a trailblazer. If I looked up to someone, I would most likely immitate them, this leads to lack of self, and thus, I also lose what I strive to become, an individual.

Anyway, thanks for the flattery, but it's definitely not neccesary. We should all be flattering each other, despite skill or any other factor.

Haha, listen to me, I can talk fancy and use big words. Go me!

Re: Battle Arena

I personally agree with the idea that places have their dry spells. I myself have lost passion for it because of the simple lack of interest invoked upon me, time consumption, and pretty much inconculsive "battles" that get phased out because of such inacitvity. Safer seems to think we'll never return to the glory of the older days, but I guess I might have needed to been here earlier to understand. I have to disagree though, I think it will pick up sooner or later. Probably after a massive, lengthy, and gradual recuperation, to agree with the all those who seem to think that the arena has been plunged into such a crappy position.

Re: Battle Arena

One of the problems is that people are having more characters than they even use. Some of them try to use all of their characters, but don't have the creativity to keep up with all of the characters that they use.

(not to point fingers)
Bigger Torkoal is an example of somebody with too many characters. He has two whole pages of different characters, and is getting so desperate for usage of his characters that he tries to make some characters into minor inconvinionces in some of his battles.

And what Powershot said about no new ideas, added to that. If people have so many characters, each one an individual idea, then others who had similar ideas won't make those into characters for fear of being accused of copying.

Re: Battle Arena

Ya, like a couple people have eight cause they want all the elements into one seperate character each. Who's going to use eight characters?!

I miss seeing the really big climatic battles.

Heehee. ^_^ Ah, yes, those were great battles. Especially The Dragonic Overlord--End of His Rein... I still glance back at it from time to time, wishing that I could kill Drago again. In a good way, of course. Once his ban is up and I'm no longer angry at him, I suppose we'll have to hold another climactic battle.

But I have to agree that the BA seems to bounce back and forth between amazing and dull. Looking back at its history, I can say that it's been having one of its dry spells again. Judging from past experiences, though, I believe this one may not last too much longer. These spells seem to last for about four or five months at a time, and then the BA really picks up right around the beginning of Summer Break. I can't wait till then... I plan on hosting a battle for the FFF sometime around then, and it'll be absolutely incredible. Seriously, Safer, it needs a new name. That one see
