My honest thoughts

Lesson? If you are willing to sarcrifice order and fairness for it, go ahead. Yes, I have a sense of humour. I found him quite funny, but I also have a sense of justice. And letting him back is going to do nothing. I applaud the people who made his banning a reality, because I know they had to face the fact he was beloved and respected in the community. Justice, yes, has special circumstances that need to be clarified and mended because of such but time and time again, Capn deliberately harassed and trolled members because he felt ignorance was at hand. I honestly don't see much how vexing the ignorant can get done. On one hand, it could very well lead to more disruption and spam when this incites the peeved member, who retorts to what he or she sees best. Is that what we want? And again, I don't know what sparks a veteran to think that tenure allows him and her to exclude themselves from the law. Spamming is already wrong as it is, contributing to it is even worse. I know we are tempted to battle some trolling, but again, what can we do? What they do is equal to the concept of vigilantism and we know that's not always in the best interest of the two parties. Why further disturb the peace that you all seem to love and cherish? And then wrecking it with your own hands. Again, I see the contradictions and hypocrisy unraveling from that. I know that I saw ZU as a good fourm and accordingly, I was expecting a zero tolerance policy towards all with fairness and equality attributed to such. I f we allowed Capn back, we would only be shooting any civic virtue that all you people seem to adore to hell, to put it crudely. There was no protection against n00bs or misunderstood circumstances, there was only sheer arrogance. I beleive in forgiveness, but Capn did nothing to repent or reform. On the contrary case, he kept on doing what made him so revered and respected. But again, this came at the expense of the domestic order that you all seem to think is supposedly to come of all these antics. I don't see it anywhere. I only see ignorance, to be frank and blunt. And why must we punish the n00bs for this and citing that Zelda Universe has declined in quality fully because of them when these people are the problem. Granted, the n00b problem is certainly outweighing their presence but their motives are just as bad, if not worse from the prespective I see it. Why do you people want to poison something that needs work anymore by introducing something that while seemly beneficial, is only harming it internally? And you people seem to think all of us newbs are mindless people. A fair generalization to take note of, but they are so because they are not facts, so I would advise you cut that kind of crap. Yes, many of the new people joining the fourms are not seen as very bright, law abiding people but there are anomalies and exceptions that make generalizations a ways off from the word fact. Just a note, because I've seen many people refer to the new population as "screwing up the boards" directly and not just citing the real troublemakers but laying the blame on all of us equally, no matter of circumstances(see the first quote above and although I'm sure the choice of words may be have been directed towards something else, but really-- take note of it). I really tire of you people complaining that Zelda Universe is so far from its glory days, but really, I think the problem is overexaggerated. The Crusade? Fun idea, but it only expanded the opinion that the n00b population was out of control. Far from fact. Could you expect less from a strong and healthy community such as us? Going back to Capn Cornflake's ban, you people seem to think moaning and *****ing about him is benefiting your cause of bringing him back, but the bottom line is-- there was never much of a cause worth fighting for. Honestly. And those thoughts have been brought to you, courtesy of Frost Guardian's mind. I'm sure many of you will disagree with me and then wonder why a thread was even needed but I felt this needed to get out. Perhaps I take the fourm's situation too much at heart, but I am really tired of all these complaints. I stand by my opinion and I hope some of you will read this. And you go bet that if the Capn was here, there would be more order. But be aware that is only a vision and will certainly be far from being a reality. And on a last note, I have nothing personal against Capn Cornflake. I have only viewed his actions and have deemed them contrary to the law that emodies our fair Zelda Universe. Re: My honest thoughts
Alright, that took me twenty minutes to read because it was all just a big block of text. HINT HINT... Page break is your friend.
As for my opinion, I think Capn was awesome. I respected him both as a vet and as a friend, and thought his jursidiction of the n00b problem (even with its few exceptions) was great. Simply put, he knows what he's doing. He is, or was, trying to help ZU become a better place in his own way. And personally, I think he did a better job of scaring away the crap than any mod did.

Re: My honest thoughts
1. I don't want Captain Cornflake back. He only made people feel like no one respected them.
2. Veterans should have to abide by these same rules. Awhile ago, a newer member with a small post count posted a 'goodbye' thread. Everyone told him that he wouldn't be missed because he wasn't known. A mod locked it and told him to announce it in the CT. Recently, there have been quite a few vets or mods that have created 'goodbye' threads as well. They are massively popular because of the thread-starter's reputation, and the mods allow them to stay open. |
