Why Was "Who you like" Thread Closed?

Why was the "Who do you like in ZU" thread closed? Okay, I understand why, but I still don't agree with the decision. For those who supposedly "took offense" to not being mentioned, do you honestly think that they are really affected in a negative way? I'm guessing they just added their comment as a sort of joke, or just a mundane comment in a way. I really don't think they intended the thread to be closed. I don't know, this is just my opinion, and I felt that the thread shouldn't be locked.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is that the "Who you like" thread was fun. It was interesting to look at what people thought of others. It's always nice to see your name come up, but it's not like it HAS to. The point of the thread is to say who YOU like, not to have your name come up. Some people are being slightly over sensitive. I'm sure some people will back me up when they say they enjoyed that thread.

See, this is what I don't like with these threads. There's always some people that doesn't get mentioned and there's always someone among them that post something like "No one likes me. "

No, that is not a word by word quote, obviously. The point is, some people take these threads seriosuly and get hurt when no one mentions them. If you have friends on ZU, tell them personally, it'll mean so much more.

I wasn't asking you. The question was mainly directed to the Mods but more specificly Lioness. Honestly, there is no harm done in a thread like this. It's not the end of the world if you're not mentioned, and how do you expect to be mentioned if you're new to the site. I know there was one person that wasn't mentioned and was also not a new member. The reason he wasn't mentioned was because he had be very inactive recently.

Honestly I find nothing wrong with a thread like this.

Last time I checked, I was never mentioned, and I wasn't surprised either. I'm not known around here much because I don't really see the point in having online friends until you REALLY get to know them. I think that thread should've stayed open because I liked seeing who others admired... For some odd reason, someone in my head (not me), is telling me the mods aren't going to re-open it.

Wow everything you said happened to me....weird huh? And my really good freind didnt mention me either of course im not known here anyway cause i dont post alot everywhere....I think lio is right.

I gave my reason upon locking the thread. While it was a nice idea, it also attracts people that wish to be mentioned, even though they haven't been active long enough to be noticed. Every time before when we've had a thread like that, it's ended up with people posting stuff like "I like you, do you like me?", "I like [name] because (s)he mentioned me!" or "No one likes me. eek!"

As I said, if you like someone, send them a PM in private so they'll know.

Seriously, there's nothing we can do unless you give us examples.

And, if you know which mod it was, ask them in a pm.

Wouldn't an example be the very thread that this thread is based upon? The "Who you like" thread.

Posts such as "No likes me!" should be considered spam in those topics because they don't add anything to the subject or discussion, it's just foolish people who think people who have friends on here are better than them, that because they're not buddies with a person on an online forum that they're 'uncool'.

People should be mature enough to understand that you're not gonna be recognized herre when you've been around for a month and have 200 posts. You have to make a name for yourself, and be noticible. I had a lot of friends the first month I joined here, because I did post a lot *bad Mirren* but I also made the effort to do that, I tried to get along with everyone and I stayed very active in the BA, posting with the likes of those who would be my friends.


Honestly, I say that topic should've stayed open, the people who complained are spamming, and that should be taken care of

I didn't see that many people complaining in the first place. I seriously doubt that not being mentioned is going to send them into a downward spiral into depression. People should be more mature and less sensitive. If I go into a long running thread and make a few dumb posts, would a mod lock it and ruin it for everyone else? That was an interesting thread.

If you were a mod, would you honestly want to keep going and checking on that thread, only to find more spam to delete? It's just a tab too much work. It's so much easier to lock it than delete certain posts.

Besides, it's stupid. As Lio said, if you have a friend, tell them via PM, or on AIM, or whatever. If you really were friends, you wouldn't need to tell them anyways. That thread was basically a 'Playing favorites' thread.

EDIT in regards to Shiek: ...how was that thread interesting? I mean all it was was people listing friends and sometimes kissing ass. It's just for people who care about online friends and online social status, which is far worse than any sort of depression caused by the thread.

Well, then I guess mods should delete most every thread in ZU, there will be spam in everythread, and from my experience there has been more spam in Wind Waker Sucks than in Who do you like?.

Well, sometimes it's nice to know that you are known, that you are liked by others, or just to get a general idea of what others think of you. I used to be the artist dude, now I'm the respectable artist writer dude, and my self esteem meter just went up 4 1/2 levels! btw, I love ya Raunmy baby

Im with Mirren, the thread did not needed to be closed, Only the noob posts as said above should of been deleted.

Everything eles was fine and was fun to look at.

I didn't think it was a great idea, either. Honestly, it should be titled, "n00b chatroom in forum form." Hey, that sounded... comical.

Well if it were the real thing we would ignore you and hopefully your post would be deleted like many suggested.

I don't like that it was locked, that thread. Lately in some cases moderators have been banning and locking for no real reasons other than just for the sake of it. I've seen numerous threads been locked just for grammar errors and whatnot.
