Lightbulb MODS(not mods)

Who is hosting the ZU forums?

Can the forums have cash mods installed?

A cash mod, like the ones from phpbb.com gives users money depending on how many posts they have, and how long they are. Then the users can buy sigs and such with the money. There is also a spam limit, so users can't spam to get quick cash.

Can mods such as that be installed here? Please? Everyone at Legendofzelda.com loved it, and so did the people at xerogaming.net. Please put in the Cash Mod.

Re: MODS(not mods)

Paying for a sig?
I don't like this idea.
Besides sigs, what would be the purpose of money?

Re: MODS(not mods)

I'm sure they could be installed, and by 'could be installed' I mean 'If the admins wanted to, sure, it could be done.'

The system we have now, I believe, works absolutely fine. The mod you spoke of seems a lot like Gaia, and Gaia is evil. There's way too much spam, and even though you mentioned a ploy to stop spam, I think it's just too complex for such a minor change. I think we should leave it as be.

But I'll let a mod or admin who's opinion matters take it from here.

The less gold, HP bars, activity ratings, and other crap we have next to our posts.. the better. Damn flags.

Re: MODS(not mods)

A point system like that was recently discussed in the staff. I believe the majority voted against this, as it would only promote spamming, no matter if there was a spam block or not.

And what's the point, anyway? Glowing neon text is ugly.

Re: MODS(not mods)

This seems like a pretty good idea to me. You could have to pay fines for excessive spamming (in addition to current warning/block stuff), and use the money to pay for help in the Knowledge forum, to encourage more thought-out use of its services. Although that could be difficult, because the cost might very based on whether you totally forgot about an assignment and need it fast, or you're just "School sux, could someone write a paper for me plz?" But then again few enough people use that forum as it is. Also, you could have the more skilled graphics artists charge money for signatures, although that may encourage more of the *cough*horriblyditheredandresizedzeldaspritesignat ures*cough*. Or perhaps have to pay small amounts for insignificant "offenses" like eye-burning text or annoying signatures, which shouldn't be worth even a fraction of a warning point?

Not just a majority -- If I recall correctly, it was unanimous.

Re: MODS(not mods)

Ugh. Please no. I would probably leave if something like this was installed. And I'm serious.

Re: MODS(not mods)

please don't, It would be just like neopets, every single person on the site would set up a sig shop for the "money", then there would be tons of spam since 60% of the people on this site can't make sigs (probably more). If you installed something like this, I would write Lee angry e-mails, and I would leave the site!!

I'm not sure about any other sig makers but I only change the text colour to go with the sig not to burn peoples eyes (stupid lime green on black)

And if we did bring this idea in then if it doesn't work then when you take it out some people might complain

Re: MODS(not mods)

Well I think this site will become Gaia if that happens. *Shudders* If that happens I think everyone will leave ZU.

Re: MODS(not mods)

I am almost sure it's not going to happen. Anyone here you has there hopes up... well, pop your own bubble because this is the internet and I can't do it for you. It's not going to happen and I don't think Lee or GC are ever going to let it happen... it's crap... and not worth it...

Re: MODS(not mods)

I don't think it is a good idea because people are going to spam up the board in order to increase their post count.Places like the Vinniculum have low spam levels because post count is completely irrelevant to the forums.

Right, I think a general consensus has been met.
