"report" posts...

Ok ive made a thread like this before but im going to do it again only kinder....
Any way whenever a thread pops up and somone thinks it isnt worth being their or is a waist of a post why post?
What is the point you are creating spam and geting off topic it is rude and disrespectful.
If you dont have anything nice to say dont say it ok.
Really though it is pointless.
Whoever does it should be grated 2 warning 1 for geting off topic and 2 for creating themselvs spam.
Please do somthing it is anoying and ruins posts people work hard on.

OK this thread is pointless, it is all explained in the rules so I don't think you need to tell us again.

PS- It is just common sense.

You're only complaining because I posted in that thread of yours, the reason I and The Neglected posted saying it will get spammy is because it is a word game, which aren't allowed on ZU. Rude and disrespectful eh, actually we're just trying to help the mods out a bit.

I wasn't rude, I simply asked the what the point of the thread was and stated it should be locked.

You're kidding right? Because someone reports a spammy topic they should be punished, what kind of logic is that?

Re: "report" posts...

People work hard on? That TOS spoof thread was just "what Tos puns can u come up with?" That's not thoughtful at all.

But, I suppose I'll take on one of your points. I'll edit in and make a bad pun.

Brolik's kinda got the right idea, reporting helps the mods out, although, maybe PM would be lightyears better.

It's not pointless to report a spammy topic/word game/flamefest/cheese thread, as it gives mods the headsup, like I just said.

And Brolik got it right again.

And, like my other post, that was not a post he worked hard on. I could make a post saying exactly that in 3 seconds. Tops.

But, I decided to humor, and edited saying a really bad pun, so can I go home now?

Re: "report" posts...

Oh, stop it. You'll get used to things, and your posts and threads will get better.

Question for the mods- When we report a post, does it go to some section that normal members can't see? Or does it just put a flag on the thread?

No, it sends an email reply sending a link to the thread and your response to it.

Re: "report" posts...

The rent-a-mod business has always been something that I've had an ambivalent attitude towards. I think it's good to see members explaining things to people who are unaware, pointing them in the right direction when a mod isn't present, but there are plenty of times when it's rather annoying. Yet, as far as I can tell, such acts are not forbidden by our rules and since they refer to the issues with a topic, they are, in a sense, on topic. I tend to ignore it myself, and just do what needs to be done. That may be seen as a fault in my judgement, but it's the way I handle things. I really don't see the "rent-a-modding" ever coming to an end, as people have a natural tendancy to let others know when they are in the wrong, and there's nothing wrong with that, if you ask me.

I have to say this, though. I let the thread in question live for a short while, looking for a report in my e-mail inbox, only to find none. It's good that you all want to help, but using that feature would be nice, too. Do give it a click if you see a questionable thread, alright? Even a nice PM would work, I recieve those from a few members every now and then.

Neglected got it. We recieve e-mail notification when a thread or post has been reported.

Don't be so hard on yourself, mate. You haven't done anything to earn yourself a bad reputation. It's a simple mistake, nothing to fret over. Continue on with your activities here, bearing in mind your newfound knowledge, and people will forget all about this in a short matter of time. I made a few dumb mistakes myself in my time here, most of them when I was new. You'll be fine.
