Page Select Hack
I, on many an occasion, have wanted to look back through the older threads of a forum, only ending up having to continually press the last page of the mere 5 set given to me to see jsut a wee 5 more. Now, if my thread were in the final set of 5, I would click Last Page, but if they were in the middle, that would mean painstakingly pressing the last button, and then waiting (espeically for those with the sadistic 56k modems) for that page to load, only to do it again.
If I find the page I want, then leave, then want to come back, I have to repeat this process. That is why I suggest a page select hack or something of the like above the number of pages to type in exactly what page you want to go to.

Re: Page Select Hack
Believe it or not, I'm quite possitive ZU used to have that option. My guess is, it was taken away when we moved over to vBullitin(sp?). I understand that you would like to see older threads of a forum (and I commend you for that, it can give you some good ideas), however we wouldn't want to highten the chances of seeing people revive old threads (not saying you would, but others might).
So unless you can find a hack yourself for a page select (it's good/more professional if you bring the material) who knows if it might get re-considered. -BGS

Re: Page Select Hack
Yeah. We get enough people posting in threads from 2003 as it is.
And I'm nearly out of ideas for special "thread revival" pics. |

I agree, sometimes you want to see an older thread. But like Capncornflake said, there would be a lot more people posting in older threads. If you have Mozilla Firefox, then you can open a new tab if you think you might want to come back later, or you could bookmark it for a short time. With Internet Explorer, just press Ctrl+N and you've got two windows with the same page, and you can continue browsing with one of them, or just bookmark it like in Firefox. I'm not sure about other browsers, though... EDIT--actually, come to think of it, SearanoX's idea would be pretty helpful as well. |
