Google and yahoo spiders...

What do the Google spider and yahoo slurp spider meen? I ve been wondering.

I think it's a kind of virus that infects your computer and gunks your computer with Google ads. That's what it seems like to me.

I thought it just collects information to add to their search engines and whatnot.

They appear on our "Who's Online" list, BGS. It's site related to that extent and it's most likely what he was referring to. The question has been asked in FSQ in the past.

And Black Mage covered their purpose well enough. That's basically all they do. No spyware or virii involved at all.

Yes, that is what it does, It collects information from a website to use on their web search. Try searching your screename, and you will be surprized because the profile page on ZU will be on the search (and some other related things).
