Group Membership

Good evening everybody. I have a question to everyone, and it has been troubling my mind for quite some time. Everytime I edit/look at my profile, I scroll down and see one thing missing...the "Group Membership". It always says "BigGoronSword is not a member of any public groups". I was wondering, " What does ZU mean by public groups?" Do they mean public groups in ZU? or public groups like the N.R.A.? I tried to see if it was an edit option... nothing. I was trying to find in the "Newbie's Guide to the Universe" thread...nothing. I looked at other people's public profiles...nothing. I even looked up every single one of the Adminstrators, Super Moderators, and Moderators' profiles, and still it said:
"[Insert name here] is not a member of any public groups". Now, I'm asking everyone in these forums...what does it actually mean to have a Group Membership? The only one I can think of that is related to ZU is by being:
--a member of the Nayru Clan
--an aprooved person to Adopt
-and-
--a member of the Battle Arena (with an aprooved character of course)

but still nothing has been noted in the Group Membership section of my profile.

There was a big discussion about this in chat when the new forums went up, you would enter a group by meeting certan requirments, a number of posts, a certan amount of time here, but the mods and admins could not (to my knowledge) really think of any more groups to add so they left the feature alone, if they ever think about a group for those sorts of things that ZU would benefit by they will add it.

Re: Group Membership

By public groups, I believe it means groups that a member can choose to join. For instance, a member could join Din, Farore, or Nayru at their discretion. Of course, we don't have it set up that way - that's only an example.

Oh, and Ganon_dwarf, that was the Reputation system we were talking about (I believe it was disabled).

Oooook.....I still don't understand. If being a member of Din, Farore, or Nayru is an example (that isn't set up that way), can you give me an example that will be set up that way, and be on everyone's profile. So far I haven't seen one profile with something in their "Group Membership" file.

Re: Group Membership

If we had a froup for each country around the world that people could be from and members could choose to join a group that just talked about a country that in theory everyone there was from and no one had to approve thier joining, it would be a public group.

Under "Group Membership" it would say 'U.S.A. Forum" "Sweden Forum" "Australia Forum" Or however they were named. Something like that in theory people would only join 1 and it would be by thier discretion.

Horrible example- or you could have "Skaters" "Preps" "Goths" "Nerds" And choose to be in one.

Edit: We don't have any public groups, hence you seeing no one with any memberships listed.

We did talk about reputation, but the convo drifted to these, but meh, I'm probably wrong.

Re: Group Membership

OK, now I understand. Thank you all for answering my question, and clearing this up for me. If any Mod wants to, this thread has served it's purpose, now it can be closed.
