Breaking News forum

I'm tired of seeing ☭☭☭☭ty threads about today's news I see everyday on TV littering the living ☭☭☭☭ out of GCC.

So were you thinking as a subforum of GCC? The GCC is active enough to survive easily on its own without the latest news stuff, so it's an interesting idea.

My only worry is that it could cripple General Gaming.

Idea: What about if gaming news was exempt?

Not many "Breaking News" threads are made. One is made every once in a while... but I think it would die before such a section would even be made. Last time I checked, it was always Snow_Storm who made such threads... while not call it "The Sexy Black Snow_Storm's Place For Breaking News. also Snow_Storm is sexy"

How about just news in general? When I said breaking news, I did mean news in general. I should have elaborated. I understand GCC is for... general chit-chat, but pointless threads are pointless. There's such garbage in GCC most of the time that it really cheapens the experience.


And yes, it is mostly Snow_Storm.
And yes, gaming news should be exempt.

Having such a forum would also encourage news-related thread to be made. Whether or not this is a good thing is up for debate.

Ah, and I just remembered: many news threads get made in I:SB (aka. Serious Discussion). How would this effect your idea?

Looking at General Gaming again, it should be able to survive fine without news, since there are plenty of huge discussions on games even without it. We can have the gaming news threads put in there too and assign both the GCC and GG mods to the new board.

SD threads shouldn't go in there, I'd say. They're just at a different level to GCC and GG threads.

All people do in SD is rehearse the same topics and arguments over and over again and then call me an elitist ☭☭☭☭ every time I speak up. Whole different level, I agree.

I agree with the general concept (too many threads on "funny" news stories), but think there's a better method of execution. Keep all gaming, serious discussion, entertainment and tech news stories in the appropriate sections. In the GCC, for general stories ("Fireman in Tree Rescued by Cat" get it? GET IT?!) have an official or stickied "Current Events/News" thread for people to post all that stuff.

Agreed. For the stories that would fall into a subforum of the GCC, I really can't see there being too much discussion other than, "I think that is cool." or "I think that is stupid." And the news that would warrant meaningful discussion would probably be better suited to the SD, haha.
