Comic and Cartoon Board

I know this has been suggested before, but I think this matter would be fairly fitting to be brought up again. In any matter, I would like to propose a comic and cartoon section in the entertainment by either two ways:

1. Convering the anime and manga board as such, letting Western properties be discussed there. Just add all the cartoon and comic threads from the other and television boards to it even if it's just the ones on the first few pages.

2. Make an exclusive one, but risk a lack of activity unless there's some type of backing for a fanbase of both.

For number 2, I know for fact that a good chunk of people watch cartoons regularly. I mean everyone does in some form or another, so there'd be no problem there. It's just, is there a big enough comic fanbase? I know Jeff and some others have comic threads every once in a while, and I love comics too, but there's never really much room to have discussions about single series like Transmetropolitan or Zot!.

However I'm really in favour of the first idea. Despite the drastic fanbase problem, I think it would be a good way to package it all into one without a lack of activity or interest. People can go there to discuss the latest episode of Narutu or Lucky Star, or have discussions about Spongebob or Batman.

I am actually quite in favour of this idea, especially the first. In fact, I was just musing the other day that while the Anime board is quite active, there's really no reason why it shouldn't be used to discuss western comics and animations as well.

Plus, I'm a comic book nerd of dramatic proportions, and turning other people on to comics will be much easier if all the anime fans who haven't been exposed to them suddenly are . The more people who read comics, the more people I can talk to about comics, so that's a win/win.

Anyway, as the mod who has made his home in the Entertainment section for the past five years, I give this my stamp of approval and support.

As much as I like the Anime & Manga subforum as it is, I can't seem to disagree with this.

And I don't even read any comics except manga. (and my western cartoon exposure isn't that big either.)

The beauty of co-mingling is hopefully people who are well-versed in one but not the other can be exposed to what they don't know, and maybe even fall in love with it and such.

Dude that show kicks ass, and I third (or second if Zien is being all smelly) the notion for a flapjack thread.

I don't see why western comics/cartoons should be seperate from japanese ones.

I'd like to see anime and manga split. Cartoons and anime could go together; that would make sense. Maybe a book section could be created, and manga and comics could go there.

The problem is, when you discuss the manga version of something, it will inevitably lead to discussing the anime version of it, and vice versa.

Plus, the differences between anime and manga are surprisingly small.

I'm all for this, it just makes sense to me. It's not as if "Western" comics haven't been becoming more "Eastern" lately (and vice-versa.)

A cartoon and anime board would work on its own, but I can't help but feel like a comic and manga board would just be wasted space because it wouldn't be active enough. Plus, that actually creates a new board, and if we're going to do that then why not just do a Western animation and comics board instead?

I see a lot of general feedback agrees with my notion. So, what does the administrators say to this? A literature board sounds fitting too, but I dunno if there's a big enough fanbase on ZU for it to my own knowledge.

Literature doesn't get enough moonlight in the Misc. forum to warrant its own board.

I agree with the Anime and Cartoon - whateverstuffs split.

I want to be the first person to post a thread on the board. It shall be a Flapjack thread, and it shall also make Asskey very angry.
