Yup, definately agreeing on that part. The Site Staff have no reason to be in all the clans. In fact, it still annoys me seeing all those extra names on the Staff section of the Member list because they honestly don't do anything for the forums. (Correct me if I'm wrong) A majority of people here at the forums don't go to the main site, don't look at the content, and have no clue what the stuff the Site Staff is actually doing. They aren't related to the forum really, so why should they be given more access on it?

As a Site Staff member myself, and like I said to one Dinnie over PM already tonight, I absolutely hate, hate, hate to admit this, but if I'm honest with myself I must...

There is no specifically viable reason why Site Staff such as myself should have access to all three clans. In fact, before I was brought on staff, I had no idea that non-mod staff even could see into other clans. I never even knew that until a couple friends of mine were hired on staff shortly before I was.

That being said, however, there is one thing I do want to say in defense of all-clan access for non-forum staff: It can be considered a "perk" of the job. After all, we're not exactly being paid for all the content that we painstakingly write up for the site. So having a few forum privileges doesn't sound like too bad a form of compensation.

Of course, I'm just throwing that out there as a possible reason why non-forum staff were given such privileges to begin with. (I honestly have no idea.) If one wants to go the slippery slope route, then maybe Graphics Teachers, BA Councilors, and ZUBC staff might also request such privileges, thereby complicating the issue even further.

Ultimately, if the powers-that-be see fit to remove the all-clan access from us non-forum staff, I would understand perfectly (after all, I never fully understood why we had access to begin with--but I certainly never complained of course ).


Of course, my desire would still be that we would go with the compromise represented in the third option of the poll--to give each clan autonomy in deciding this issue, such that one clan would be able to say, "No staff or mods from outside the clan at all please," while another could say, "The more, the merrier!" I would most certainly respect the wishes of both.

I could honestly care less. I don't mind people from other clans (including Site Staff) posting in Nayru. The only thing I don't like is when they post just to say "IM INVADING LOL". If they're actually part of the discussion, who cares? As far as I'm concerned, the clans are just another forum to post in.

Actually screw it, after some thinking, I think even mods should be restricted to their respective clans entirely. If an outside mod has to clean up a clan board then the clan's mod clearly isn't doing their job properly.

Global moderators, super moderators, admins... ect would still have to have access to all the clans, because that's part of the job. Moderating all boards around ZU. And no, I'm not saying that because I'm a super moderator, it's because it's a fact. :/

Ok, that is something I can agree on. I still call for interclan silence for those mods who can access all three.

well mods aren't going in other clans to moderate, they're going in to chit chat. (and hopefully not spam/"invade" and be a poop head)

I think that no mod should have access to all three clans unless they moderate the clan area. This includes Global mods and above.

This is something which has boiled over from recent events as well as my experiences throughout my entire stay here. I've created a group which contains guidelines for moderators to look at and join if they wish.

But technically Global Mods (and Super Mods) do moderate those areas--because they moderate all areas.

I think that unless they've done so already, they should dispense with their clan banners.

Are you being sarcastic and cleverly pointing out that people are taking everything too far, or are you actually being serious? I can't tell. Global mods moderate every forum, that's why they're global mods. Super Mods are the ones that sort people into the clans in the first place, and Admins/Webmasters are the ones that add the moderators to clans in the the first place. Not to mention that Jason actually bought the site with money, and if he wished to he could turn the entire site into a blog about his ballet classes and nobody would have any say in the matter.

The cake refers to the extra privileges, Dom. As opposed to getting paid, since Jason can't afford it, they simply get more privileges.

Are you seriously proposing that staff should get nothing whatsoever for working for the site, simply because you've decided it's elitist?

I find it disturbing that Jason gives the mods my brother.

I gave Jason money (among other things), also I had quite a lot of input into the site's design, as well as creating ZUBC' public image. I try to be an active member of this community, trying to help out where I can. But I guess I'm just another freeloader with a couple of extra graphics under my name.

I guess I worded my post wrong.

The only ones who should be able to see all clans are Global Mods and above, and any forum mod who moderates the entire clan area.

Cody, that comic was rather low-handed. You think that the other members don't contribute at all? Giving money directly from our pockets and in return being handed a box of ****?

It just doesn't seem very fair for you to say something like that from up on your 'site staff' pedestal.

And by the way, ZUBC members work just as hard for the site as any other staff, and we don't see **** for it back from the site except for the members' praise.

I'd say we do deserve some cake.
