Three months per username change rule

A person's name online and on the forum is practically the only handle we have of recognising them - moreso if the person in question regularly changes their avatar and signature.

It is extREMELY annoying and frustrating when members such as Alucard change their names from month to month - NONE of us, I would bet, have such fantastically organised computers of memories and minds so as to INSTANTLY know that such-and-such person has just had their 18th name change complete with av and sig change. Unfortunately there is no instant feed to our minds to update us automatically.There are MANY active members in the community and it won't do to allow this confusion to continue.

Especially when they don't even leave a "used to be ------- " thing in their sig.

I say mods need to reinforce this rule harshly, only leaving leeway for things like - someone changing their name and finding that they simply are not fitting with it and changing back. Otherwise, stop having no respect for everyone around and consistently and constantly masking your identity.
Choose one and stick with it already :/

What if the person wants to try and remain anonymous? Hiding behind a mask of anonymity is one way in which socially insecure people cope. The very insecure will make their anonymity anonymous. Neither I, nor most other people, fall under that category, but if somebody like Alucard needs that, then let him have it.

If he's doing it for some other purpose then maybe he has a reason. Unless he's trying to willfully annoy you, let him be.

I stand by the statement of "pick a name and stick with it."

What's wrong with having a certain number of names you've used? Nothing. Hell, nobody remembers me having the first name I had anyway, so I don't even know why I count it. I've really had only four names that people knew me by.

It's not interesting if we don't disagree at times! :p

On to more disagreementy stuff: A forum such as this is different and functions differently to "Anonymous" forums. The internet has already established how people become when they remain anonymous. This forum is structured on a one-account-per-person thing - multiple accounts being a bannable offense.

Changing names is dangerous at times. I mean, what if - in all of a sudden - Nintendo decided to change Mario's name to Ninjin. Yeah, that'd be weird, right?

I originally registered as "Hylian #1" but after people started calling me "Hylie" (thanks to the lovely Kas) I decided to get it changed. But only because that's what people were calling me anyway. ^_^

I agree with Asci and I like the rule no more username changes, but, let's apply that rule AFTER I remove 12 from my name...

It feels like a useless rule to begin with. So someone wants to use a different name when it has only been a month. Usually people do not make any real attempt to hide who they are, not that I know of anyways.

The only reason I can see this being enforced is so that the Mods do not have to keep on changing it.

But other then that... no real reason.

I WASN'T joking, I was trying to prove a point so that Asia would throw away her piece of **** name that she has now. :<

I like my name the way it is, and probably will never change it.

Heh, I have seriously only ever changed my name once on any forum I've ever been on over the past 5 years.
