There can be multiple reasons:
1. Adopters accidentally overlooked you: It happens all the time. If there are many new people who want to become adopted, your post could have been lost in the rush.
2. Adopters weren't interested in taking in a new adoptee: I'll take myself as an example. The last time I adopted was at least 7 months ago. Since then, I really didn't feel like adopting anybody until recently (Oocoo). Though we have the capabilities to help many people, we're not limited to just the ones we adopt. As a mod, we are here to help you out in
ZU. Look at me, for example. I never had an adopter, and I came up fine. However, a mod by the name of Lioness helped me out, so she became my unofficial "mother".
3. Maybe Adopters want someone that's a little bit more active on the boards: It's quite true. I personally like to have adoptees who are active, though there are only three ways to tell: 1. Ask them if they will be active. 2. Observe them before adopting. 3. Take your chances.
