I hate ZU ;_; (Getting logged out at random.)

Sorry for the offensive name, but I keep being logged out of ZU against my will...I just typed up my whole new BA character, then hit the Save button, but I wasn't even logged on. When I tried to hit back, it just went to a page that said Thanks for logging in, Moonlight...or whatever...And I can't do it again for awhile because I have severe carpal tunnel! Is this happening to anyone else, or am I just ninjaing my cookies away without knowing?


EDIT: It happened again when I typed up this complaint.

And when I rewrote it it said

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/zelda/public_html/forums/newthread.php(219) : eval()'d code on line 5

On a blank white page. Come to think of it, it does all the time when I make threads, but the thread is always still there.

Did you not save everything you wrote? It's better not to type everything up in ZU, best to do it in Microsoft Word (or any text page thingy) save it, and then copy and paste. I'm very sorry if you lost all that >_> That's happened to me a few times.

Aye, it's happened to me before as well, though the last time I thought I lost something it ended up making the thread anyways. If you don't want to type up something on MS Word, then I'd suggest highlighting whatever you wrote and copying it before you hit submit, so that if it DOES mess up, you still have everything you wanted to post, and just need to go back and paste. So sorry you lost all that hard work though... I can definately relate.

Everytime I start a new thread, I get the same eror message on a blank white page. All I do is click back up in my bookmarks and go back to the main page of the forums, and it makes my thread visible.

THis should probably be moved to the Feedback/Suggestions section.

Same thing with the error. I just click "refresh" and it's fine. Maybe it should work on the "log-in" mabob.
Are you sure you made the site "remember" your account?

Yeah, and firefox too...Maybe it's a problem with firefox...?

I get that sometimes... its so annoying.

I've noticed it happens often with posts that you take a long time to write, I think it's because the page expires or times out...It happened to me once when I was posting my BA's character profile...but it still posted in.

It happens to me as well. It became really annoying when I was updating on the Farore RPG and I lost my entire post! Since then I have been typing them up on word. The only nice thing about this feature is that if you are on a public/someone else's computer and forget to log off, its unlikely someone will be able to acess your screen name.

Meh, the constant logging-off-at-random occurence happens a great deal to myself; I should think Miss EE's idea is the most probable reason why this is occuring. I do remember Scott (or so my atrophying memory claims) mentioning something in regards to this problem a few months ago. I was under the subsequent impression that the problem originated from the new forum set-up or whatever it is... >_>, but it's gone on far longer than this idea might allow. I often take it for granted that ZU is going to log me out if I take too long to fashion my reply, and so I take full advantage of Firefox's tab contrivance, bring up ZU in a tab and return to the forum index, see whether I've been signed out or not (and logging back on if I have been signed off) and from there returning to my original tab/response and posting. It works. I can't say I'm especially annoyed with the circumstance, except when I forget and consequentially lose my work...

It never logs me out though and I'm using Firefox. However, that error line code thing always appeared whenever I made a new thread.

Try clearing your cache and cookies, and let ZU create some new cookies.

I don't even remember the last time I was on ZU and wasn't automatically logged in.

Anyway, I get the thread error too. No big deal, it's always there anyway.. Most of the time.

Really it is probably Firefox. When ever i am on ZU or youtube when I set it to remember me it doesnt. Also What Edward Elric said, it might time out. like when I was posting my code lyoko thread. it was long and gave me the white screen with the erors.

I've been using Firefox for a few weeks and this has never happened. You should make sure it has "remember me" on. If that doesn't work it is a problem and you should PM a mod about it.

It happened to me many times last week, but then it just stopped, and I don't get logged off like that any more...

Also, I use IE, so it's not just firefox

It was probably just a glitch in the sistem a few weeks back. It happens sometimes.

EDIT: but not too often.

Okay, so this is simple enough.

This sort of issue occurs with a major software change, or a funky server move. Both of which occurred a while ago. If the issue has been happening a long while, that means you never followed my instructions.

In Firefox:

Go to Tools -> Options, then click "Clear Cookies Now." You'll have to log in again (everywhere), but the problem should no longer be there.
