I am just wandering, what are the special things you can do as a MOD and can't do as a regular member? What are the perks? whatt are the advantages? Disadvantages?

Re: MODs

Well it depends on what powers you have given, I dont know about ZU but when I was a mod before on another site I could lock threads, move threads and so on. I dont think it has advantages or disadvantages...but thats just me, its just a responsibility I guess.

Re: MODs

The rules still apply to them. And likewise, they are expected to follow the rules strictly and to look over the forums with fairness and execute the various functions of well, just monitoring everybody. They tidy them up by keeping the spam out and keeping it work-safe, in a sense. They just maintain the overall, well makeup of it. Of course, they should already be up to those kind of standards, given they are selected by actual merit of leadership and accordance with the rules and not through the spoils system. You should know all this anyways. They could not follow the rules they enforce if they really wanted to but really, it would land them in a less than favorable position. I'm not sure how to well, even think of the disadvantages and advantantages of such. You make it sound like uh, I don't know-- a privilege. But it's more of a responsbility. I would just call it a labor of love.

Too bad, this isn't a democratic system, and you don't count. If the mods want to bring on FG, they will vote on it in the staff forum.

Its a pain in the ass, quite frankly. anyone who wants to be a mod on this site is obviously ignorant of how much crap they have to go through. The mods do their job not because they want to, or because its fun. They do it to give back to the community.

Re: MODs

MODS can do stuff that we only dream of, basically lock and merge threads, and um, make us think that they're in control, but whatever, most of the mods don't do anything, only a select few mege and lock treads, kudos to the select few !

Re: MODs

I was a super-mod on one forum. It wasn't a day at the beach though.... When you first become one your like, "What the-? What are all of these options?!"

Well, I have a screenshot from my forums.....

Those are all of the options for mods, s-mods, and admins......But admins have a lot more privilages....but I'm not going there.....I'll keep the admin's secret toys to themselves.....

But, no disadvantages......It's not hard, nor is it easy....because of ugly spam....

As I would say,
Every 3 or 4 seconds, some idiot is posting pointless spam, and a MOD is right there, ready to take them down....

Well, see ya!

Re: MODs

I nominate everyone here for a MOD.

Especially since "MOD" is a file type, and "mod" is short for "moderator." So if everyone here wants to be a MOD, I have no problem with it - just don't be a crappily made one. If you don't know what a MOD is, you may use Google to find out. Common extenstions are .mod, .it, and .xm.

But since I'm sure most people won't look it up, here's a hint: MOD's are way better than MIDI's.

Plenty. Most of it is boring, though.

Re: MODs

Yep, being a mod can be tough, especially on a high mantinence forum like the BA. Ry-san was probably the most stressed mod ever, because she did a lot of work. Basically, you have to love the site to be a mod and put up with the chaos of a chosen forum that you supervise.

I'm just a mere council member in the BA, so I just have a taste of how stressful it could be. The only plus I have is a job I enjoy doing, plus the secret forum for the council is pretty cool, you can badmouth people (although I never do). When I got there I read all the stuff they said about me and my writing, *takes careful aim at GC* man, did I realize how much I had to improve.

Y'all...talk about us? Wow... *feels violated and insecure* ~_^

Well, it's pretty much already been said. Mods clean up the forums and keep the peace. And on a forum as big (and as such, potentially spammy) as this one, that must be a difficult job indeed... Kudos to the mods! ^_^

^Pointless post to suck up to the mods... ~_^

I was elected democratically. In the Nayru forum, by non-mods.

Modding can be tough and stressful, but there are some perks and cool things we can do. The forums are pretty different when you're a mod (I was really lost in my first few minutes of modding). And, I get to have my name in yellow with a matching banner.

Like Sir Auron said, I couldn't have said it beter myself. We mods have to make sure people must fallow the rules. If they don't we warn them, or even ban them from ZU for some cases. According to the rules this is what is said about the mods: "The mods and admins are here to try to keep the peace. If we see an argument brewing, a difficult situation or a rule violation, we'll make the members involved aware of this and try to resolve the issue. If you're asked to stop arguing, stop. If you're told that you've broken a rule, re-read the rules and remember not to do it in future. We're not here to be a pain, we're here to try to keep things running smoothly and for that we require your co-operation. "

Now I was talking about bannishment a moment ago. In some extreme cases, people do get banned. Either for getting three warnings, doing something very obscene, or even having a second account when you've already been banned in the past *cough cough*. I just wanted to get that out of my chest for future notice.

Re: MODs

Oooooh! Harsh! Oh well, Remedy, or whoever you are, it was nice knowing you here... Anyway, before tthis may get locked, I want my say.

I expect, as has been previously said, you do get advantages, but it is a huge responsibilty. You have to know what spam is, and when to take action and when not to. I would think the responsibilty outweighs the fun by a long shot (if there is any fun at all).

Re: MODs

*Glares slightly at Tiroth, and then vigorously at Power Shot*

Da both of you: Shut yer traps (joking). The little, tiny, non modidified members cannot know of our secret hang outs, so there's no need to make them envious. And when you tell them that we bad mouth them, well... might as well just give 'em all access.

I don't look at being a mod as being stressful, but I suppose that it is a responsability. But it's definately not an unwanted burdon. If I didn't want to be a mod, well, then I wouldn't have accepted the offer.

Although, Ry-San was an awesome BAer, and when you're brought in after she leaves... well, people tend to fail you in comparison to her. So that's never very pleasant, but I try just to disregard it. People'll get used to me, because I'm a very getusedtoed kind of person.

... I... yeah, anyway.

*fears wrath*

Oh boy, sorry, I was unaware it was a secret. I learned about them by way of another mod, plus common sense dictates that all users know about our hide outs. Me and Tirtoth weren't the first ones to mention them.

*cowers in fear*
