The new Zelda Universe is here - Feedback and Suggestions wanted!

Just been looking around our new site, and I love it! Thanks Lars, and the rest of the team, you've done a great job.

Oh and the idea of an interactive story sounds great, but I do think that it would be abused quite a bit. These kind of things seem very hard to moderate.

You have some great spriters in this forum. Maybe you could have some Zelda sprite comics added to the site. RPg_Hylian-NL has a great one going.

Just a suggestion.

Though the site is absolutely awsome so far I cannot think how it could get better.

I like it so far, only thing I have a beef with is that grid background, as you already know

I think good and the thing you should change is the copyright at the bottom it say 2001 - 2003 when it should be 2001 - 2005! something else u should have done is made it different then the other one cuz the new version looks like the old one a lil, i thought it was going to look a lot different but u would probably change it for the next version!

Very nice, Lars. I love the new look. I can't think of any flaws as of now and I don't think I will later on!

Hey Lars I have got to say that the new layout is a hell of a lot better. The Windwaker look was getting boring so I'm glad that you changed. The new one is a lot smoother and better looking. The new game sections are a lot better and more organized. I have one suggestion though. I would change the forum banner. Make it match your layout. Other than that great site.

The header of the new layout is AWESOME!! I love the login feature on the home page, and the new and improved comments system. I think that having zelda fan movies would be a great idea too. (I'm partial to the Legendary Frog one, lol) Just a suggestion. Way to go ZU!!!

Thanks for the comments, and yes, I will be working on the look of the forums eventually. I just want to sort out the most urgent stuff at the site first.

As for the interactive story feature suggested by some of you, I will try and look into something like that as well, though there are other things that will be higher up on my priority list as of right now. Good suggestion though, keep 'em coming!

yea the new layout is kickass and I love the new game layouts.... but I'm not to happy with the new game icons... I liked the old ones they showed the item for like Oot it had the Ocarina... now it just has link... I dunno maybe you could make something eles I just liked the old ones.... other than that I am very happy with the howcome

I love your new layout Lars, but I'm sure you've heard a lot of that Now, I'm not trying to nit-pick, but I found one thing off. In the AoL Boss section, Shadow Link's picture is where Thunderbird should be, and there isn't a picture of Thunderbird. I just wanted to make sure to let you know about that.

hey i noticed that you got rid of those big pics that were on every game page and replaced them with that new thing of yours. I gotta say that it looks much better now. Also if you need any content I will be willing to write you something or gather stuff for you. Nothing is asked in return.

I don't know if this problem is just isolated to me, but on occasion, I get a "URL Redirection Exceeded" error. I am using FireFox 1.0 browser. It seems to be associated with the forum integration with the main site. I can't stay logged in, and sometimes the main site won't show up unless I first go to the forums, which the main site will say that I am logged in. I tried messing around with the cookie settings, but they are allowing everything and it still occurs. Am I the only one running FireFox to get this problem?

Forgive anything that sounds like meaningless nitpicking.

- Make it validate - much of the usefulness of XHTML is defeated if the document doesn't validate.
- Some crawlers might register your keywords and description as keyword/description spam (view source on the main page, should be clear why).
- A lot of unnecessary markup. Like divs that open, have a font tag, then close. Tables used to wrap five words of text over and over again. Things like that.
- Wasted space around the header. I whined about this with the previous design, and it's just as much of an issue now. This time, though, I come bearing Eyetrack III.
- I definitely preferred the old logo, and spacing thereof relative to page margins.

Since you can log in from the main page (much needed addition. Good work!) does the numbers at the bottom of the fourms "members #. guests #" count for the complete web site? That would be really cool!

Some cool content that I think you should add would be some articles for each Zelda game in the series. Like, for the Zelda series, you can make a 'series' or articles that explain some of the deep info on each game. You could maybe call this the "Zelda Legacy" or something of that sort.
I'd defenitely read it if someone wrote that. Maybe it could be a 'Behind the Rupees' special or something...

No, you're not the only one. There's a problem with the integration that leaves it re-directing too many times. IE as the fabulous browser it is, doesn't care and just ignores it, but FireFox leaves you without access to the site. I have brought in help to get this issue resolved, and it shouldn't be too long until it's fixed!

- The coding I have done myself is completely validated, but I can't do anything with the tracker/ads codes, as well as the coding which is generated by the CMS. Hopefully they will tidy it up in the next major upgrade.
- And I don't see why any of the crawlers would consider it keyword spam - All of it is related to the actual content of the site, no?
