Soundcloud Player?

Would it be possible to have the option of embedding Soundcloud tracks into posts/signatures on ZU? Many music forums have this and I think it's a pretty cool feature to be honest. I'm not sure if this would affect users with slower internet connections or not though.

I dob't think the song would start buffering unless you clicked play, so it should be fine. dont quote me on that, though.

Staff opinion on this is almost certainly no.

Because having 20 songs playing every page would be terrible.

I'm not personally a fan of it. We don't allow YouTube embedding in signatures, partly because the loading time is kind of a drag, so I figure the same thing would go for this.

Well we have youtube embedding, and videos are bigger than songs. Just make them non-embeddable in signatures as well. The songs obviously don't play automatically, so the issue of several songs playing is nonexistant.

Hmm...I suspect that wouldn't get used much.


This isn't a music forum, after all. People can link those pages just fine.

I kinda disagree, seeing as how a good majority of the youtube videos I see are songs.

I think it'd be a neat feature to have in posts, albeit probably not used as often as YouTube embed.

my reasons for being against this are purely aesthetical, one of those huge players strewn across my page would look awful on basically every skin but the white one, and even then it would probably stretch most pages. I still don't see an issue with just linking to things

We have too many plugins already. We should be removing them and simplifying the forum so that it runs faster, not bloating it with more plugins and features.

I'm gonna have to say no to this one, sadly.

Soundcloud embeds are way more aesthetically pleasing than what is in the screenshot iirc.
