Zelda Universe - The Next Version - What do you want to see?

It's going to be very similar, but not 'the same design with a 1 pixel line.' Don't worry. If a design sucks, it's not going to be used.

I suppose the best way to describe the new design would be an evolution; an expansion. Don't expect anything too darastic, in otherwords, but there's going to be more than just a couple of changes.

So is the new layout going to have a more 'modern' feel, like with spiffier navigation on the main page, sharper graphics, etc.?

You definately need to change the PM buttons, one looks poorly cut and the other one doesn't make sense in the context. And about the notification, it should sya yes or no, not yes or cancel.

Does anyone know the date of when the new layout will be used on the site???

The new version will go live sometime into the new year, right now we're aiming for the first half of January, which seems to be a more than realistic target, so yeah.

Still taking suggestions.

Here's a list of new features currently being implented:

- Sitewide membership
Register once, and you have access to all parts of the site that requires registration, including forums, image gallery etc etc.

- More Interactivity
Interactivity is really the punchline for the new version of the site - It will boast tons of new features, such as the revival of the mailbag, all managed online, the ability to submit links, encyclopedia entries and more, all online through your browser.

- Mailbag Returns
The mailbag returns as stated above, and will become a regular feature - You now submit through a form online, and we manage it online, making it easy for any staff member to make a new edition when he sees it fit (will probably be a weekly feature).

- Behind the Rupees
Returns. New writer, and now they don't have to go through me to post their articles. This should definately improve the stability of the section.

- "Zephka's Corner"
This old feature will return in a new format. The details have yet to be worked out on this one, and we are taking suggestions.

- Downloads
More of the goodies. The bandwith heavy download sections will be restricted to registered members only.

- Improved Memberlist
This will take over the function of the current IM List - More details, and any member can decide if he wants his profile to be public or not.

- Content, re-done.
Big parts of the content will be re-done. More accurate and detailed content.

And there's even more, which I can't remember right now

Is there going to be a Zelda Radio, that can broadcast most Zelda music and so on? It'll be nice if we can have that.

It's possible, but most likely would take too much bandwidth to be a feasible option.

This puts to mind a question about the bandwitdth heavy part..... to be fully registered now, would we have to pay a membership fee? To pay for the bandwidth.....

Sadida: No, paying is not an option I have even considered, so no need to worry =)

As for the radio idea, it's not a bad idea, but yeah, streaming MP3's is out of the question. We could possibly implent something like a radio/jukebox feature, only MIDI files, if there is enough demand for it.

The problem with changing colours is that many people use this blue for their "transparency," messing peoples sigs up.

If there is this bandwidth problem, we could (just a thought anyway), set up a donation thing on the site to pay for the extra usage of bandwidth, right? Not that people would actually contribute, but then again, who knows?

We already changed colours once. People can deal with it.

No, but a choice of several different colour scheme's can leave people confused to which colour they shouls use... I think they should use natural transparency.... but yeah.

But yeah, colour changes people can deal with, at least in that aspect of it.

Are there still going to be, you know, Zelda orientated pictures and such on the skins of the boards? Or I mean, you know, at least one? (Such as the default skin)

Rather stupid thing to ask, but I think that's always good, since this is, after all, a Zelda site.
