I'd like to see more insane stuff. No idea what I mean by that, though.

Oh, the things I contribute.

I'd like to see lighter colours. Not too much King Blue, like the current one. Is that a good idea? A gothic, ancient look would also put a more Zelda-feel to the page too!

I think Mrs Ganondorf has it in one. I'd, if it's possible on these forums, like to see a skin chooser with various skins with very different colours so members can choose.

I would love to see the exact same color, actually...

Idea, lets implement more javascript / css for visual effects instead of graphics, less bandwisth but more power...

Are we suggesting things new for the site and the forum? Or just the site? Just a bit confused.....

Well how about the staff acts on the suggestion by most of the sig makers earlier and make a Graphics Section for the new 'generation'.

That was already a "no." It won't change, sorry. And by 'most of the sig makers' you mean 4 of them? Cute.

Re: Zelda Universe - The Next Version - What do you want to see?

just a question, how much of the current content will be kept? i mean, not the obvious ones like game info, but like will we start the interactive story over and clean out the fan fiction and art? and will the site staff page be updated? just some thoughts. and about the site and forum changes in design.. as long as it isnt too different, i wont mind as much. personally i love the design that is here and would prefer it not changed. heck, i liked the forum design better with vB2. but meh.

about color, i dont mind as much, except for the hassle of obtaining the hex code again for my sig work.

and lol, when White Dragon asked about whether there will be a chat, i had to laugh. sorry but it was pretty funny.

edit:

in case you didnt notice in youre web design studies, but javascript and css are two different things. i dunno what you meant by the slash but usually it means "a.k.a.". anyways. *checks the site* if there is any more css involved,
im afraid there could be a seerver overload. the css work on it is fine as it is. though a bit of javascript (a scrolling quicknews type thing maybe?) could be beneficial.

Re: Zelda Universe - The Next Version - What do you want to see?

Javascript is not needed. Not only may it not work properly for some users using different browsers, it's generally slow and just wastes bandwidth for basically unneeded graphics. I think a simple, clean layout is much more effective than one with moving images and spinning text boxes. Heck, vB uses enough Javascript as it is.

I'm pretty sure that echoes Lars' thoughts as well...

Re: Zelda Universe - The Next Version - What do you want to see?

Status Update

After a bit of a "stop-down", the development is coming along nicely. It turned out I wasn't satisfied with the design I had developed, so I had to start all over again, but this time I am confident it will be great. The concept it pure genious (yes it is), and I think this will easily become the most functional design we've ever seen at Zelda Universe.

As for the Java Script and CSS suggestions, I don't think I'll be implenting any special Java Scripts into the site, but CSS is an integral part of any up-to-date website today, so we'll be using CSS to its fullest, not necessarily to achieve very much "special effects" though.

Special Effects slow down Dial Up users and some Cable users like myself who are runnin off of slow HUBs, I'd be disappointed if we had a huge load time too...

Edit

heh, now I see SearanoX's post and I feel mine was useless... then again... I'm reinforcing my thoughts on zu not being slow.. so it's useful! o_O;

The fanfic/fanart databases will be kept, the staff page will be updated (*gasp*), and there won't be any major changes to the forum design.

I love the colours they are just right for my eyes but some people dislike dark colours and want brightness and cheerfulness... beats me why.

Re: Zelda Universe - The Next Version - What do you want to see?

Yes, AnakiN, you said it. Functional! I could add a few other comments. I think that what people associate with Zelda in general, the tale and the mood in the games, would be ideal when designing a new look, AnakiN. That will appeal to the Zelda-fans, won't it?

I have allready mentioned that "ancient" feel. Prehistoric themes would be good, of course, if it is related to Zelda! Ornated frames with the Hylian scriptures and other symbols in the games for instance.

Re: Zelda Universe - The Next Version - What do you want to see?

UPDATE, Big Update

After A LOT of thinking and considering, going back and forth, back and forth again, I have decided that the new version will be more or less based on the current design. It seems I am just too fond of it to be able to scrap it all-together.

I apologize to all of you who I had hyped up for a big a change, but in the end I think it is for the best, at least right now. We'll be looking into creating several themes for you to choose between in the future though, but for starters we will be going with a design that is based on the current one. Changes will be made though, for the better, don't be afraid of that, but as I said, it will be based on the current one.

So any special requests for modifications to be made to the design? A border will be added around the main table (I can't believe I didn't do that to begin with), for starters, and there will be several changes in the actual setup (menus and so forth).

Re: Zelda Universe - The Next Version - What do you want to see?

...wait. Don't tell me you mean border, as in "The site is centered, with a 1 pixel line around it" border. I really don't want to see something like that, honestly. I liked how ZU is right now, how everything curves into everything else, which is just brilliant IMO. I don't want to see a design like that ruined by a common 1 pixel cutoff line, but it's your site...
