Re: Zelda Universe - The Next Version - What do you want to see?

Are you creating this CMS yourself?

Other then that, it's a great idea, and I wish you the best of luck!

And maybe it's time to get the sprite-section back?

I tell ya what ZU's future needs, more active members.....

But no really, I was thinking that you could get rid of the blue and insted put up some green. Also, make a sub-forum complety devoted to PSP and Photshop art.

get rid of those... on the left hand side, I know you said it will be, but don't go make it another image like link or anything... it just doesn't look good, makes it look too childish. imo

I disagree. If anything I'd like to see a more active community without all the clueless members. I'm hoping that we'll get people who normally don't post on the forums and such, and only visit the site for its content, will end up joining and posting on the forums. It'd be nice to have a few more people who are, dare I say, actually truly intelligent.

We've decided that it isn't needed, although don't worry; there won't be as much blue this time around.

For the new forum layout, some of the sprites and such will be kept - talking with Lars, I think he's mostly decided on changing the colours and banner, and a few icons, for the most part. So, expect the forums to have a similar feel to what they do now.

As for that particular sprite, I'm sure it'll be considered. I've grown used to its use, though.

Or better yet, make multiple color styles. Have a drop down menu somewhere that lets you select what scheme you want.

Something like what www.mikeroweforums.com does. Blue, green and pink color schemes.

I actually suggested having the new and old themes optional. The different colour ideas could be easily implemented as far as I know, though, so don't consider it an impossibility. However, separate themes, such as Christmas, Halloween, Easter, etc. are probably more likely. Or, if someone wants to go to the trouble, there could be Din, Nayru, and Farore themes, or ones after Link, Ganon, and Zelda.

Of course, that gets to be a lot of work, so icons and such would probably remain the same.

That actually might make me nervous.

I have an account on the main site as well as one here. So now what? I don't know if it is possible to merge accounts like that, and I have too much writing and I am much too lazy to redo all of those chapters. That's over 40 chapters of story we're talking here.

I was upset when I couldn't use my ZU Forum account to log into the main site, but if at this point they will be integrated with each other, what happens to the people who are already registered on the forums AND on the main site?

I smell tons of duplicate memberships.

Anyways... what do I want to see? Honstly, ZU is still ZU, no matter what it looks like... but, I would love to see that nice, sleek, streamlines look you have going right now. Layout change, but keeping nice curves, and keeping everthing in balance. Composition = very important. Don't put things in bad spots... and steer away from the normal "it's a side text menu, use it to navigate the site" type thing. If you really want to go for creative, move things around to new areas. If the theme boasts lots of simple things, then steer away from eye candy, But if it looks nice and professional, don't go too hard on the graphics, but keep them nice and neat looking, while still appealing to the user browsing. Make the entire layout easy on the eyes, smooth transitions between graphics or parts of the site (a line, IMO, would be considered smooth as well as a fade), and not many HTML tables.

As for color change, as long as it isn't any neon color, I don't care much.

Icons... for me, might be a little pain, because that will give me the urge to completely update the Temp ZU Forums (Which most people have probably even forgot about by this point, since ZU is always up. But I still keep them recent and updated, just in case.) with tthe new layout. Yay for more projects .

Just keep it neat, Lars, neat and appealing. I can't wait for this revamp of ZU ^^.

EDIT: Errm... Lears is a cool guy... like Peefy! >_>...

Re: Zelda Universe - The Next Version - What do you want to see?

GC - Who is Lears? O.o And I don't think it'd be possible to integrate forum memberships with the main site, unless you are newly registering, since surely there are some people registered on the main site who are completely different from people on the forums who have the same screenname.

Anyways, as long as the new design is darkish and easy to navigate, I'll be perfectly fine.

Also, you can't get rid of the LttP sprite, that thing is awesome, heh.

Re: Zelda Universe - The Next Version - What do you want to see?

Hmmm when it comes to the layout of the site, I have nothing to complain (unless it's all pink). But I'm just curious...when can we expect to see a sample of what it's going to look like? I know it suppose to be a surprize, but it won't hurt that much if you give us a peek at one webpage

I'm sorry, Hyrularity? Is this what you are talking about?: Humour. If not, I still think we should upgrade some of the Hylian jokes. I know that (in the past) people have made threads here on ZU that focused around The Legend of Zelda jokes but none of them have been put into the main site. Yes I know that one would have to personally submit it, but probably if a Mod, or someone else up there, wants to put some new jokes in there, by all means go ahead...just tell the joke maker if it's alright to use it (that's the difficult part of this whole thing).

Could the Link sprite be replaced with something like a Triforce sprite for new posts and a Master Sword sprite for no new posts? That should make seem less childish for people like Mess, and it would maintain a Zelda feel. I dunno, I'm just not too fond of ALttP's pink-haired Link sprite.

Having two compeltely different and unrelated sprites for similar things is a bad idea. A lit up Triforce and a dark Triforce would work, but not two different things.

How about a shield for unread posts and a sword for read posts? I think they would do nicely.

Heh, we all wish Hyrularity could be continue.

I always pondered over their titles O-o... Hyrularity.. hillarity (is that even a word...)? Hilarious?

Navigration confused me, because it is eaither aggrivation, or navigation, which both work for Navi.

But, I don't think there is any chance of it being continued.
