[Need Help] Image Problem?

I have no idea if they're recoverable or not, however

Why do you care that they think you're trolling them? Tell them you're not, and if they still think what they think, who cares about them.

But at the same time it would be nice to get them back.

The fact is that I want them back. A few of them are already not on my thumbdrive now so I just hope the attachments aren't gone permanently.

So, I'm sorry to say that the attachments directory was apparently overlooked when we moved servers...So, all old attachments are gone. (The old server was taken offline last weekend.) I didn't have the correct access to determine this before, so sorry for not catching that in time.

New attachments should work now, though.

Ah, all the more reason to use dedicated sites when uploading files to the internet.

Oh yes, it's generally a good idea to use photobucket or imgur or some such when you want to share images, rather than attaching them to forum posts.

Are the old attachments gone permanently, or if given some time, there still can be something done to recover them?

Gone means gone. Not temporarily unavailable. Gone.

Anyway the other image problems have been solved, right? Good work and thank you for making it possible again to change avatars, signature pictures [SIGPIC] and Custom Ranks and uploading on ZU in posts again.

I have a now problem now, I can't upload a new avatar even when it's within the size limit. Why does this happen?

Here's what I got from the error:

What exactly is the height, width and file size of the image, and what file type is it?

The image size is thrice the allowed one, it's a GIF image, usually ZU resizes the avatar (just like it always had been).

What happened this time, it doesn't work unlike the past.

It only resizes one direction. I don't remember whether it's image size or file size it auto-fixes (probably image size), but last time I checked, it didn't do both. If I could see the image though, that would help identify the problem a lot, as well as help me suggest potential solutions.

It's this;

At the very least, that image is 150x150px, whereas our maximum profile image has a maximum of 100px in height.

I for one didn't know that our profile picture inputter resized things; however, if there were one image type that'd be different from the others on a technical level, it'd be animated GIFs.

Didn't you used to have a smaller version of that as your avatar? Or am I thinking of somebody else?

No matter. I suggest you cut down the height of that image to 100px and see how big the file is then.

EDIT: Also, The Missing Link, it's an avatar, not a profile picture. Normally I wouldn't care about a simple mistake like that, but profile pictures are an actual thing, so I'm thinking it would be best to avoid potential confusion. :/

That's what I meant. I completely forgot that there are TWO pictures to describe you. Avatars (the thing up there in the left corner of this box) can only be 100px tall.

Right. (I understood your mistake; it was clear you were referring to avatars despite the words you used)

I know, but usually the site resizes the image to 100px x 100px even for animated images (as long as the KB is under 75KB).... so what happened this time?

It didn't happen like this last month and the months before, I know this because I always change my avatar (almost daily when I am active on ZU).

For example, this picture here I use as my avatar after downloading and saving it in my computer, how come it can be resized automatically when I uploaded it as avatar but not the Megaman one!?

So, I don't know if you still want this, but I resized it for you in GIMP.
If the issue's fixed, then don't bother with it, but in case it's not...now you have it.
