General "Zelda chit-chat" thread

A lot of threads end up being locked very quickly in the Zelda sections, due to not having enough potential content or longevity (example 1, example 2).

So, this has led me to wonder, should there be a "Zelda chit-chat thread" stickied in the General Zelda section, for any trivial conversation that probably doesn't merit an entire thread to itself (rather like the "General Gaming General Discussion General Awesome" thread in the General Gaming section)? Good idea? Bad idea?

Seriouspost: Wouldn't it be better to see if relevant discussion arose (like, if someone actually had something to say about either of those bosses) instead of just closing the threads, making sure that it can't? Is it that bad to let a thread die by itself?

The issue is that the threads would have resulted mostly in spam, with one line responses, as opposed to good discussion.

I personally think that a chit chat thread like the music section, or general gamings chit chat thread is a great idea. At least one worth a trial, where shorter answers are a big more acceptable. And thus talking about how hard a boss would be better applicable there.

I'm not adverse to this idea; but you'd have to get some input from the members who post frequently in the Zelda sections, as to whether it'd be appreciated or not. If we had a stickied thread, you might see a lot of threads getting merged into there (which could be good or bad, depending on how much visibility you wanted your topic to get).

Re: General "Zelda chit-chat" thread

I can see a 'general zelda chitchat' thread quickly deteriorating into people posting their individual ideas over and over and no actual discussion arising... Or the complete opposite, good discussion, one topic at a time. could go either way!

Re: General "Zelda chit-chat" thread

I really like the idea of a general Zelda chat thread. I'd wait for a little more input from mods dedicated to that section, though. Do you think it would be better to have the discussion for any game in one thread in General Zelda, or spread out across the different Zelda forums?

The mods of that section lock them, and usually because they belong in a stickied thread or because they don't provide a lot to be discussed. If it's the latter, it might be possible to remake the thread with a more sufficient opening post so there's actual content to be discussed.

Re: General "Zelda chit-chat" thread

It's actually a good idea, even if people would post threads that are pretty similar to others and doesn't have a great deal of discussion, I'd personally like a place to post lightly where there is plenty of threads to check out.. if you get me.
Also because I find with mods locking so many threads that aren't completely original and have light contents, I'd prefer loads of other threads that are somewhat similar then the same old threads that I've already posted in.

Re: General "Zelda chit-chat" thread

This does seem like a good idea. I mean, think of how many crap threads get posted there and just end up getting locked by the mods. Instead of having these threads created, the people can just post into the "General Zelda Chit-Chat" Thread or if a mod spots a bad thread they can lock it OR merge it with the "General Zelda Chit-Chat" thread at their discretion. I think this might just free up some of the clutter in the General Zelda area and the Zelda area in general.

Well, that's just my two cents on this.

Hm, good question. I think maybe it'd be best to have all the discussion in one thread in the General Zelda area, rather than spread out across all the Zelda forums, since I imagine a lot of chit-chat could be about several games.

Zelda mods, what do you think?

Re: General "Zelda chit-chat" thread

I find it odd that there isn't one already. This is a Zelda fansite, after all. A thread like this would promote discussion and answer small questions that would otherwise clutter the forums. Posts of lighter content would be more acceptable, so members with nothing too important to say can go there and make things easier to manage.

With the help and glitch threads already available, a chit-chat thread would complete the set.
