Actually, you can technically do it either way and it;s grammatically correct. I just find the apostrophe to be much neater, because without punctuation the lowercase s could actually be mistaken for part of the acronym. For example, CDs could actually mean Central Distribution System, but someone forgot to capitalize the last S. If they type CD's, I know exactly what the person is saying.

No it's not. While I too find it easier to read CD's, CDs is still the correct way to do it. Or you could write out the full term: Compact Discs.

Who types out the acronyms anymore, though? The apostrophes and periods are unnecessary/incorrect. /Grammar Nazi #2

ZU is a site for Zelda fans who play tWW, OoT, MM, etc.

What if you decided to make an all caps sentence with ZU, MM, and Oot? ZU NE GOT THE B OOT, MM.

While you could've been right, you're not. The acronym thingy only works when they are their own word.

I don't think it works like that...the letters s and t often show up next to each other in words, but it doesn't come up with the acronym code. The code only works when the letters are not included within a word.
For instance:

The problem with adding LA and MM to the acronyms coding is that they both frequently can refer to other things (e.g. LA = Los Angeles, MM = Mega Man, etc.).
