Entertainment Section

Since mostly anything worth posting in the Entertainment section fits in one of the sub-forums, why do we still have the option to post outside the sub-forums in the Entertainment section? Why not take that option away.

The reason I'm saying this is because it would cut down on bot posting. At least in that section, anyway.

Agreed. Every thread in there is either locked or deleted, and if there's something that doesn't fit into the categories there, it's most likely suited for General Chit-Chat.

I wonder if you can lock down a forum but not its sub-forums?

In any case, we only get about one bot-thread per month in there, so it's hardly a pressing issue.

Other than wondering if it is possible or not (have a parent forum locked while the subforums stay open), I don't have any particular objections.

And when it comes to the Entertainment forum, mine is really the only one that can stand in your way.

I bet Jason, Cody, Scott, or whomever could. A lot of different modifications can be made from the admin cp.

It can be done. In fact it has been done. Only trouble, in my opinion, is that it marks Entertainment as a locked board on the index.

Which means the little icon for it doesn't display when there's new posts in it. Which is somewhat irritating.

Actually, it does. At least, it should, if the skin has the proper icon for it. I know the green skin has it. (The icon turns gold instead of the usual red.)

Usergroup access masks may be the solution there. I can't remember off the top of my head whether that would affect the forum status icon.

And clearly, Derek was lazy when he put up pumpkin icons. Or maybe it was Jason. I have no idea.

Haha, I saw the index page and said "Woah, why does that pumpkin have no face?"

as for my opinion, I think it's not a seriously necessary change, but there's not much really negative about it either, besides the appearance of a locked forum. but if people see that and honestly believe that we locked down entertainment, they'd be even more inclined to click there and see if they're right, out of curiosity. I doubt anyone would see it, think, "oh they locked entertainment," and then move along. I bet most people wouldn't even notice depending on the skin they're using.

so yeah.

Maybe there should be a stickied thread in the board to announce why it was locked, etc?

Which is strange, because pumpkins don't usually have faces.

Nobody really posts there anyway. I say just leave it as it is.
