[Suggestion] Orientation indicator?

I've noticed that a lot of people are using the gender indicator to signify sexual orientation instead (gay guys using a female symbol, lesbian girls using male). This gets confusing sometimes. Could there be a separate indicator for orientation, or would that be more trouble than it's worth?

I didn't realise people did that, but knowing that I find it a bit silly. Personally I think that orientation symbols are unnecessary and give the wrong impression to newcomers to the site. But I like to stay mostly anonymous on the internet (I think that's the beauty of it), and it's not for me to say how much information other ZUians want to give out about themselves. If it's a popular idea, prehaps a section on people's profiles would suffice, but not on people's post-user-bar-things (is there a name for them?).

A good idea, but not sure it would work in practice, due to it's irrelevance. Maybe something in the "about me" section of the profiles. Though, even that may be pushing it.

Who cares? It's not that important, if someone wants to know they should ask.

(And my personal opinion is that orientation is irrelevant in most contexts, anyway.)

I suppose if someone wanted that sort of thing they could put it in their sig. I just thought it might be useful to have.

Oh sure, why don't we put indicators for race, age, and shoe size while we're at it?

If you want to know what sexual orientation someone is, ask them if it's really that important....which it's not.

It's not like someone who says they're a 16 year old girl that's a cheerleader for the local football team would actually be a 43 year old man living in a trailer park hat eats small children for breakfast.

And why is sexual orientation important?

Maybe just force people to only choose one gender that they had when they joined? I mean, it's not as though it just suddenly falls off.
