[Suggestion] Retiting an tread

It would be very cool if the maker of a thread could change the title of the thread. This would allow small typos to be fixed or to even change the name to something that more accurately describes the topic. Has this been considered by ZU ot try and implement before?

I actually think this is a good idea. I can imagine it will become useful when you make a typo in the title or something.

You can change the title of the opening post (yes, posts have titles), but as far as I know, no way exist so that you are able to change the name of the thread. I've seen several instances where requests were made for Mods to change the names, and those requests did not go unanswered.

Still, it'd be a lot more convenient and efficient if we could change them ourselves. Since the staffies take themselves so damn seriously, I'm sure they'd rather not have to meddle in our thread titles.

I think it's currently set that you can change the title for 5 minutes, and then that's it.

What's the reasoning behind not allowing people to change thread titles?

That's not cool. What if it takes you longer then 5 minutes to notice something wrong with your thread title?

All I can say is...

Not to mention that a dial-up user might not even have the opportunity to take advantage of that window.

If you want a thread's title changed THAT badly, ask a mod.

Now, I haven't had dial-up for at least a decade, but... five minutes to load the page? Good lord. I don't remember it being that bad.

That's all fine and dandy, but it doesn't change the fact that there's no clear reason for the time limit in the first place.

I imagine it's to prevent people from changing a thread title constantly from "Hands up if you like puppies" to "Hands up if you like Nazis". You know, general devilment.

The thing is: if you have five minutes to look at your thread and fix it, do it. Once the five minutes are up, I'm sure a mod would be happy to do it for you. Changing titles can easily be abused, that is why there is a five-minute time-frame.

What do you mean easily abused? How do you abuse changing a thread title?
