[Need Help] Newbie Custom Ranks

Of course, I specifically don't need help, but I've noticed that over the past few months there have been quite a few newbies come to FSQ to ask why they can't get a custom rank even though they've been here for 120 days and have at least 50 posts. This usually results in a Super Mod such as Pani fixing it so that person can get a CR and then locking the thread.

But this doesn't fully address the problem.

Why is it that newbies often can't get a custom rank until a super mod (or higher) lets them?

Why is it that there's a requirement to get a custom rank?

Because that's how ZU gets ya.

I say there should be more default ranks for people with 1,000, 2,000, or 5,000 posts, respectively.

There's already one for 1,000. It's Sage of Wisdom.

I stopped caring after I got the CR function. Before that I only cared because I would rather be a Zora than a Goron.

Like was said, there already is one for 1000, but as for the others not having a title, it's because having them would inadvertently encourage spamming to get a higher post count and thus a better title.

I agree with Sabbo, there's really no need for "milestone" custom ranks beyond 1000 posts.

I agree with Nyarlhotep, everyone should be able to have a CR from the get-go.

ZU is the only forum I've been to to not have them from the get-go.

Another forum I frequent doesn't let you get them until you have 1000 posts, or donated.

How useful to know.

And one I've been to only gives them out as prizes of sorts, for being a person others have voted as deserving of one. And the voters are the ones who decides what the title will be.

But that doesn't address the concern here.

A super mod didn't have to unlock it for me when I was a newbie. I was just there after a while. I thought I needed 500 posts or something before I could create a custom rank. I got one at about 40 posts or so. That was 6 months ago.

Only 40 posts or so? That doesn't sound right...

You newbies don't know how easy you have it, back when I joined you had to had 1000 posts to get a Custom Rank, and if you wrote anything less then a full paragraph in your post before you posted. You would of gotten a warning for spamming, if the mods were in a good mood.

Guys, I think this thread is meant to be about fixing the issue that people keep having with custom ranks, rather than changing the requirements...

Actually, when I noticed that I have the chance to change my CR, I tried and couldn't. But I didn't start to whine about it, or whatever, just wait. And I could change it after a while. So I say, newbies should be a little patient, and they'll automatically get their chance. I mean, it's not such a problem, and they could wait a little if they want it so much, couldn't they?

It should just be a couple of month and 50 posts. It's not like you're getting a free name change or banner.

The problem is quite simple, really. Every person who's ever complained about not getting their CR was not in a clan.
