Hey after playing Twilight Princess I was not particularly satisfied, so I wrote this while bored one day. Hope you like it. Keep in mind I'm not much of a writer and I never ment to post this... Anyway hope you enjoy it! Tell me what you think!
![]() ~An Alternate Ending~ Link dismounts Epona and approaches Ganondorf, not expecting him to be weakened, he cautions Zelda to stay back. “Link be careful…” Zelda’s worried eyes show her concern, “I can still feel a strong surge from his triforce of power. As Link draws closer Ganondorf rises and casts yet another twilight barrier around them. For a brief moment their eyes connect, then Ganondorf charges and their swords collide with the sound of a hundred thunderbolts striking at once. Both put in as much strength as they have left, both swords glow as the strength of light and twilight, courage and power, Good and Evil begin their epic battle. Link musters his strength and pushes Ganondorf back causing him to stumble. Link rolls and tries to attack his back, but Ganondorf is too quick; he blocks Link’s attack. Then Ganondorf makes his move, he attacks with fury and speed, drawing power from his triforce piece. He attacks from the left, then the right, he jumps at Link, barely missing… His attack continues, this time Link falls as he catches him on the arm. Link recovers before Ganondorf can injure him further. Link, trying to focus on finding Ganondorf’s weak point, looks from Ganondorf to Zelda to…what was that? Zelda notices Link’s quick glance and looks also. On the opposite side of the barriers was a small glowing figure but what was it? Was an enemy or an ally? Was it a danger to Zelda? The light begins to fade and to Link’s surprise Zelda runs to the figure. Then Ganondorf attacks while Link is distracted. Link, who is unprepared, tries to defend himself; a blow, a cut, blood, Light, Darkness… Link struggles to get to his feet, how badly was he hurt? He could not feel much but knew it must be bad by not only the warm blood now on his face and arms but by the frantic cries of Zelda and the Evil laughter coming from Ganondorf. What was Zelda yelling? Learning from his painful mistake he tries to focus on Ganondorf’s movements while listening to Zelda’s words. “Link!!...Midna!... Back!!...” What? Midna? It couldn’t be, he had seen Ganondorf holding Midna’s headpiece above him like a trophy. Was it possible? Was it possible she had made it out alive? If it was true perhaps she could still talk to him through his thoughts. “Midna? … Midna is it you?” “Yes Link I hear you.” “Are you alright?” “Yes I’m fine, that stupid King of thieves hurt me pretty badly but I’ll be ok.” “Midna will you do something for me?” “Ummm I’ll try. I’m not really in the best condition...” “You have to promise me you will do it and not ask questions.” “Well then: Yes Sir!” She replies sarcastically. “I think I have figured out what Ganondorf needs to obtain the complete triforce. Do you think you can transport you and Zelda out of here?” “Uhh ya, but if you think I am leaving you here to deal with him alone your crazy!” “Midna we don’t have time!! No questions asked remember? Now go and take Zelda to the sacred meadow. When the time is right I will throw the master sword to you and you must take it with you both to the sacred meadow, it will keep you safe.” All this was said in a matter of moments. Then Ganondorf attacked again charging Link with the power of the triforce. Their swords connect once again, as Link uses all the strength he has left, he looks up at Ganondorf’s evil smile. Ganondorf breaks through Links defenses and attacks Link. Link falls to the ground. It seemed as though everything was happening in slow motion, and the only sound was Ganondorf’s evil laugh of victory. Link turns his head to see Zelda drawing her sword, Now was the time to act. Link gets to his feet, Ganondorf charges once again but this time just before the strike Link dodges the attack and pushes Ganondorf to the ground, in the split second Ganondorf is on the Ground Link uses all his strength to throw the master sword over the barrier to Midna, who at the exact moment catches the sword and warps herself and Zelda away. With a gentle thud Zelda and Midna touch the ground of the Sacred Meadow. Zelda, looks at Midna with wise, yet confused eyes. She begins to ask Midna what was going on then sees that Midna is glowing. She is suddenly covered with light. Zelda takes a step back. “NOOOOOOOO!!” Ganondorf screams. His evil smile gone, replaced with a face of fury and hate. Link, standing there totally defenseless after throwing his sword and holding his arm in pain, looks at him and smiles triumphantly. Ganondorf suddenly grabs Link and lifts him into the air. “Where did you send them?!” Link remains silent… “You think you can keep them safe? You can’t hide them from me boy!!” Ganondorf yells in fury, then everything goes dark for Link. Zelda stares into the eyes of a complete stranger, and yet she new Midna immediately. Midna had been transformed back to her old self. She seemed strong too. Midna studied her appearance with wide eyes, then let out a sigh of relieve. “ Zant’s magic must have worn off…” Zelda says. “I, I don’t believe it.” Midna says. Almost in an instant Midna’s face goes from surprise, to relieve, to angry confusion. “Would you mind letting me in on what Link was talking about?” “What do you mean?” Zelda asked. “He said that he thought he had figured out what Ganon needed to obtain all three pieces of the triforce.” Zelda pondered a moment, Midna could see the wisdom of the triforce coming from her. She briefly wondered if she was as wise of a leader to her people… “Oh,” Zelda interrupted Midna’s thoughts, “I have a theory that I believe Link was on to as well.” “And that would be…” Midna prompted sarcastically. “That Ganon needs myself and Link both alive and together to take the triforce pieces from us. All three of the triforce pieces must be together to fuse together.” “Then why was he trying to kill Link back there? Explain that to me.” “The triforce of courage will not be taken from Link easily, Ganondorf would need Link to be significantly weekend to take the piece from him, and if it were to leave Link while I was not there to complete the three pieces the triforce of courage would move to another.” “So then what will the coward do with Link now?” “Ganondorf must keep Link alive, but I can only imagine his anger at what we have discovered.” Link begins to awaken, his theory about Ganondorf having to keep him alive must have been correct, he couldn’t be dead and still feel all this pain. “Focus Link” he thought. He pushed the pain from his mind and began to assess his situation. It would probably be to his advantage not to allow anyone else to know he was awake. He could feel cold stone rubbing against his body. He must be being dragged somewhere. After what seemed like an eternity they stopped, then what sounded like a large door slammed. Link didn’t dare assume he was alone, so he waited… minutes passed, mabey hours…Silence. Then Link opened his eyes slightly. He scanned the room for any sign that he was not alone. The room appeared to be empty. When he was confident that he was alone he shifted to see the rest of the room. He was alone. Link struggles to get to his feet, then makes his way a single barred window. He was in one of the castle’s highest towers. “So now what?” Midna asks impatiently. “Are we going to help Link or not? Just because they can’t kill him doesn’t mean Ganondorf won’t get really close.” “I know Midna, but I’m sure he has taken Link back to the castle.” “Ok so you and I kinda know that place really well…” “Midna, I know that you want to help Link but you and I trying to sneak through the castle to find him would be reckless. I agree we cannot leave him there, but we must approach this with caution.” Midna started to argue but looking to Zelda’s timeless eyes she knew she was right, she would look foolish to argue with the holder with the triforce of wisdom… “So what your saying is that we would need to have a pretty good plan.” “Yes.” “Do you know anything about how many of those dumb minions this guy has in the castle?” “No, after giving you my power…” “Speaking of reckless…” Zelda acted as though Midna had not spoken. “I woke in my chamber and immediately there was yelling that I had awoken and moments later Ganondorf came for me…” “What we need is a good distraction to get the King onto our board.” “What do you mean?” “I mean we need Ganondorf and his friends to leave the castle long enough for us to get Link out.” “Hmm,” Zelda pondered a moment. “I’m not sure that would be much less reckless that barging in.” “Me and Link wouldn’t have made it this far without taking some chances, but if your too scared…” “I can assure you I am not concerned for my own safety in this matter. If I did not hold the key to Ganondorf obtaining the triforce I would already be on my way to the castle.” “Then what do you suggest we do?” “I think I may have an idea.” “If I only had all my equipment and strength I would already be out of here.” Since regaining consciousness Link had learned a few things. One, all of his equipment had been taken from him. Two, at least two guards were standing outside his door, so he had to remain quiet as to not inform them of him waking up. Three, there were only two exits to the room he was imprisoned in, the barred window and the door. Even if he was to get past the iron bars on the window he wasn’t sure if, in his current condition, he would be able to climb to another window much less all the way to the ground. Link leaned closer to the bars to assess how far the ground was. In that moment he heard the guards outside his door trying to find the correct key to the room. Link began to think very quickly: Judging by the sound of the guards they were just some goblins, could he disable them both quietly and quickly enough that they would not raise an alarm? He immediately decided to try. He swiftly moved behind the door so at least he might take them by surprise. Then the door opened and two Goblins walked into view, they did not immediately see Link. Link lunged at the closest goblin hitting him hard on the back of the neck. By this time the other was aware of Links attack, the gobbling raised his sword and swung at him. The goblins feeble strength gave Link enough time to doge and send the other goblin to the ground. He looks up into the red eyes of two darknuts. “Don’t think I can take those two.” They both lower their axes to him. Link looks at the axes then at the darknuts. Then the darknuts split, allowing a path to the door and hold their hands at their chest and sink into a bow as far as their thick armor would allow; Making a path as Ganondorf enters the room. “So whats the big idea?” Midna asked. “Midna can you still change your appearance to look as others?” Midna rolled her eyes and mimicked Zelda’s appearance perfectly. “Why? How does that help us?” Midna asked as she changed back. “I don’t know if I can ask this of you…” Zelda said quietly almost to herself. “You can ask me anything, if its that dumb I’ll just say no.” “I do not wish you to think of me as week, but I worry of letting the triforce of wisdom near Ganondorf’s grasp. If we could rally enough people to stand behind us we could have you take on my appearance, Ganondorf will leave with most of his troops to take us on with the hope of capturing me. Then with the castle near empty I will sneak in and get Link.” “Wait, wait, wait. What makes you think you can get past the guards that will be guarding Link?” Midna laughs. “I’m sorry to burst your bubble Princess but have you ever actually used that sword?” “Do not assume you know everything about me Midna, there was another Dark time, much like this one, that I had to fight the forces of Ganondorf.” Midna looked into Zelda’s eyes, now far away, lost in her memories. “I have prayed that the day Sheik would need to fight Ganondorf again would never come, but it seems that day has come.” Looking at Princess Zelda’s face at that moment made Midna feel the sorrow of the memories Zelda was talking about. If she had learned anything about the Princess of Hyrule it was that she was selfless and kind enough that whatever she had been through the last time this Sheik person came around, she would not want pity, even if she deserved it. As she let Zelda remember the past, she noticed a small tear roll down her face. “Who is this Sheik person?” “I am Sheik. In the past, Ganondorf tried to take the triforce, but Link, the ‘Hero of Time’…” Midna listens intently as Zelda tells her of their last battle with Ganondorf and how Sheik was always there behind the scenes fighting to help Link. Midna thought that Sheik must have played a more significant role in ultimately defeating Ganon than Zelda was letting on, but of course Zelda would not want any praise… As Zelda finished Midna, trying to wrap her mind around all that she had heard, spoke for the first time since the story began. “So Link has no memories of all that?” “No, He deserved to have a normal life. I had hoped that he would never have to bear this burden again.” “Well If Link did all of that as a kid, No wonder he picked all of this up so quickly. When I first met Link I knew that he was strong, but nothing could explain how quickly he learned, or should I say remembered, how to fight.” “Yes, he truly bears the triforce of courage. So, What do you say Midna?” “Looks like this battle just turned into a war. All of Hyrule against the triforce of power… Great.” ~~Zeldafan12z There it is. Tell me what you think or what you would have written differently. I may finish the story one day if you guys like it. Thanks for reading!! ![]()
