The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

This is a little bit from a book of Ocarina of Time that I'm writing. It's a little different in the fact that Link talks and reacts to what characters say rather then just stand there but it's pretty fun to write and the game has a great story line so it makes a great book. I'm surprised no one has ever done it. This isn't even a whole chapter. It's about half of the first chapter. Right before Link goes into the Deku tree. You'll have to wait for me to finish before you can get more. But you shouldn't worry that much. If you really want to know what happens go play the game. You just have to work harder.. and who wants that? Tell me what you think. Did I describe thing's good enough to keep someone interested? Am I stupid for getting bored and deciding to write OOT as a book? Feedback is always accepted and wanted.

Chapter 1
The Legend of the Triforce

Heavy rain falls and lightning strikes as the drawbridge is lowered. As Link stands in front of the bridge, a women and a young girl who looks like she is from the royal family rides by on a white horse. Link moves out of the way just in time to miss the horse. The young girl looks back and stares at you, as if she were pleading for help. You hear another horse and turn around expecting to see a horse with more of the family. When you look, however, you see something much worse. A dark man in a black suit of armor is on a black horse.

"Navi... Navi, where art thou? Come hither... Oh, Navi the Fairy... listen to my words," the Deku Tree says in it's powerful but kind voice. “Dost thou sense it? The climate of evil descending upon this realm. Malevolent forces even now are mustering to attack our land of Hyrule... For so long, the Kokiri Forest has stood as a barrier, deterring outsiders and maintaining the order of the world... But... Before this tremendous evil power, even my power is as nothing... It seems it's time for the boy without a fairy to begin his journey... The youth whose destiny it is to lead Hyrule to the path of justice and truth... Navi... Go now! Find our young friend and guide him to me... I do not have much time left... Fly, Navi, fly! The fate of the forest, nay, the world, depends on thee!"

As the Deku Tree finishes, Navi flies off into the forest, and into the home of Link; the only boy without a fairy. He is a child. Just like all the other Kokiri. They never grow up as long as they stay in the forest. He has blonde hair, and wears the boy's traditional Kokiri Tunic. A green hood, with green shorts and a green shirt with a brown belt and brown Kokiri boots. Link is sleeping in his bed, tossing and rolling. Navi attempts to wake him up from his nightmare.

"Hello, Link! Wake up! The Great Deku Tree want's to talk to you! Link, get up!" Navi yells to the boy, still fast asleep, while oblivious to his dreaming. "Hey c'mon! Can Hyrule's destiny really depend on such a lazy boy?"

Link slowly opens his eyes and sits up, yawning and rubbing his eyes.

“You finally woke up!” Navi says enthusiastically, “I'm Navi the fairy. The Great Deku Tree asked me to be your partner from now on! Nice to meet you!”

Link has always been the one boy without a fairy. Although everyone was nice to him, except for Mido of course, he had always felt different. Now, he is a true Kokiri!

“The Great Deku Tree has summoned you! So let's get going right now!”

Link jumps out of bed, eager to go see the Great Deku Tree. To be summoned by him is a great honor. Link walks outside and a girl is running towards his house, as she comes into focus, Link can tell it is his friend Saria.

“Yahoo! Hi, Link!” Saria calls as she waves to him.

Link climbs down the ladder and walks up to her.

“Wow! A fairy!!” Saria says, “Finally, a fairy came to you Link! Wow, that's great news! I'm so happy for you! Now you're a true Kokiri Link!”

“I've also been summoned by the Great Deku Tree!” Link says.

“Is that right? The Great Deku Tree has summoned you? It's quite an honor to talk to the Great Deku Tree! I'll wait for you here. Get going! Go see the Great Deku Tree!”

Link nods and runs off towards the entrance to the Great Deku Tree's cove. As he gets there, his smile fades. The one person who never liked link is standing in front of the entrance. He walks up to him and tries to walk past him.

“Hey you! 'Mr. No Fairy!' What's your business with the Great Deku Tree?” Mido says tormentingly. “Without a fairy, you're not even a real man!”

“For your information Mido, I have a fairy. And the Great Deku Tree has summoned me.” Link says, loving the chance to make Mido jealous. Mido has always been jealous of Link. Even without a fairy, Link has always been friends with everyone. Mido is especially jealous of his friendship with Saria.
“What??! You've got a fairy?! And the Great Deku Tree has actually summoned you? Whaaaaaaat?! Why would he summon you and not the great Mido? This isn't funny...” Mido whines while tapping his foot. “I don't believe it. You aren't even fully equipped yet. How do you expect to help the Great Deku Tree without both a sword and a shield ready?”

To be honest, Link has never really thought about that. But he won't let Mido know that. “Well you're not equipped either.”

“Well, yea but... If you're going to help the Great Deku Tree you should at least have a sword and a shield ready. Sheesh!”

Link turns around. He's not sure where he could get a sword. But they sell Deku Shields in the shop. He'll need some money though.

After a quick trip home to grab some Rupees, Link makes his way inside the Kokiri Shop. He walks up to the store owner and asks how much a Deku Shield will cost.

“A Deku Shield will cost 40 Rupees. Be careful, if set on fire, it will burn.”

40 Rupees isn't that bad. He asks for one shield and pays the man. Before he leaves, he looks around. He notices Deku Sticks and Deku Nuts.

“This job might be dangerous Link. Maybe you should get some of those,” Navi says.

Link was already considering it. If Navi thinks it would be a good idea, he better do it. After buying the Deku Sticks and Nuts Link exits the store and goes back home to think of where he could get a sword.

As he's walking back to his house a girl calls to him. “Now that you've gotten a fairy you have much to learn! You should go up the hill there and practice
working together.” She tells him.

Link decides it couldn't hurt and goes up the hill. As he's up there he notices a small hole. On the other side, there is more forest. He's small enough to fit and goes through it to take a look. When he gets through, he sees a huge rolling rock encircling a large wall. He looks around the corner just enough to see around it without getting hit by the rock. He notices a cove at the other end. If he times it perfectly, he may be able to get there and avoid the rock. There doesn't seem like much of a point, but Link has always enjoyed exploring the forest. He has all of the Lost Woods memorized. He never gets lost like most do.
Just as the rock passes him he darts after it, but the rock is circling it fast, he barely has enough time to get into the cove before the rock crumbles him. Ignoring Navi's scolding, he looks around and right in front of him, is a big treasure chest atop of a tree stump. He walks up to it and climbs up and throws open the chest. Inside, he finds the Kokiri Sword! It is a hidden treasure of the Kokiri, but what better reason to borrow it then to help the Great Deku Tree?

After practicing a little on bushes, he goes back to Mido.

“I already told you, if you want to see the Great Deku Tree, you should have a sword and a shield!” Mido says. “Wait, whats that? Oh, it's a Deku Shield. And what's THAT?! Is that the Kokiri Sword?! GOOD GRIEF!! Well, even with all that stuff, a wimp is still a wimp, huh? I, the great Mido, will never accept you as one of us!”

Link holds back not to attack him. After all, he needs to see the Great Deku Tree.

“Shoot!” Mido says angrily, “How did you get to be the favorite of Saria and the Great Deku Tree...” And he stands aside grumbling.

As Link walks through the pathway, he starts hearing noises like something in a bush. Suddenly, three Deku Babas1 come out of the ground! He quickly and instinctively pulls out the Kokiri Sword from it's sheath and spins around, cutting the first Deku Baba right through the center of it's tall stem, then slashes his sword cutting the second through it's stem and jumps and slashes his sword downward, cutting the third Deku Baba's head down the middle. A bit surprised with himself, Link continues through the passage. When they arrive to the Deku Tree, Navi flies up to him.

“Great Deku Tree... I'm back!” She says happily.

“Oh... Navi... Thou hast returned... Link... Welcome... Listen carefully to what I, the Deku Tree, am about to tell thee... Thy slumber the past moons must have been restless and full of nightmares... As the servants of evil gain strength, a vile climate pervades the land and causes nightmares to those sensitive to it... Verily, thou hast felt it... Link... The time has come to test thy courage... I have been cursed... I need you to break the curse with your wisdom and courage. Dost thou have courage enough to undertake this task?” The Deku Tree asks.

Link, who is now trembling at the though of the task before him, finally decides he must help the Deku Tree, it is his duty, and honor to help him.

“Then enter, brave Link, and thou too, Navi...” The Deku Tree says while opening his mouth so they may enter. “Navi the fairy... Thou must aid Link... And Link... When Navi speaks, listen well to her words of wisdom...” With this, Link enters the Great Deku Tree, and begins the test of courage he has been given.

For a bit of info on what my writing process is, I play the game, pause, type it, and play some more. I gave reasons as to why link went into the hole to get the sword since it would make no sense for him to just go there and see what happens. Again, would love you feedback on it. If this is mildly popular I'll do Majora's Mask and after that I am making a fan game that takes place after MM and I may do a book version of that as well. Also here is what I named the chapters, any suggestions or changes you think would be better then what I have?

The Legend of the Triforce
The Princess of Hyrule
The Goron's Ruby
The Final Spiritual Stone
The Ocarina of Time
Into the Forest
Up Death Mountain
Zora's Domain
The Fire in Kakariko
The Final Medallion
The King of Evil
The Beast Within
Epilogue

Also, I know there is a comic book for OOT but I read it and it's not that great. Kind of makes the game seem a bit worse I think. Plus, it's a comic book not a novel which is basically what this will be.
