The Legend of Zelda: Dynasty of Darkness

What's up? I've been a long-time fan of Fan Fiction, so I figured I'd write my own. It takes one of the darkest turns that the Zelda series could possibly go into. Here's a bit of information about it before I start.

This story through my eyes is considered to be the sequel to Majora's Mask, where Link returns to Hyrule after finally finding Navi at the edge of the world. They decide to go back to Hyrule, only to find it in complete and total ruins. I won't spoil any more of the plot than what has been said.

Now, onto the story! As a little bonus, I'll profile characters that are revealed in each chapter at the ends of the chapters, one at a time in the order they're revealed.

Chapter One ~ Reunion

It had been a long day of searching. The horse that the man was riding had grown tired, as well as the rider himself. They had been searching for something, but as to what they were searching for was a secret. But they would continue their search tomorrow, as the sun was starting to set along the horizon.

The rider had finally decided to speak. "It's been a long day, Epona. Why don't we get some rest, eh?"

Epona whinnied in response. If the horse's name was Epona, then obviously, this was Link. Except that this Link was 20 years old. So obviously, he had been searching for something precious to him. But he still wasn't going to reveal it now.

After cooking a meal for him and Epona, Link pulled out a sleeping bag and lay under the stars. He saw all the constellations: Orion's Belt, the Big Dipper, the Little Dipper, all of them. Suddenly, his eyes spied a few stars in a very peculiar shape. They seemed to resemble.....a fairy.

Slowly closing his eyes, Link muttered "Ugh....Navi....I won't rest....until I find you...." After that, he drifted off to sleep.

The next morning came all too quickly. Partially because something was fluttering around, screaming "HEY!" in Link's ear.

Slowly opening his eyes, a ball of silver light was fluttering around him. It couldn't be.....could it? "Huh? N-Navi?!"

"Oh my god, Link! It's been such a long time!"

"Navi!!" The two of them embraced and hugged each other. "Navi, I thought I lost you forever! Why the heck did you leave?"

"Well, with no more evil in Hyrule, I figured you didn't need me anymore...."

"How could I ever not need you?! If I didn't need you anymore, I wouldn't have been searching for you for the past 10 years!"

"You have a point there. Well, now that you've found me, what do you want to do?"

"Well, I guess we can go home. Back to Hyrule. You ready to go, Epona?"

Epona whinnied in response. "Alright then. Let's go home."

As Link mounted Epona, Navi flew into his hat and settled there. "Oh, how I've missed this spot." Link merely laughed and rode on.

It took approximately ten days to reach Hyrule, but they finally made it. "Well, Navi, we're home." However, when they passed through the clearing, they came across a much different sight.

Hyrule was in ruins. The field had been burned, the towns had been destroyed, everything looked dark and desolate. All the while Link was in shock. "No....what-what has happened here?!"

Special Bonus

Character Profile ~ Link: He has not been seen in Hyrule for the past 10 years. All the while searching for Navi, even being roped into saving Termina with another fairy named Tatl. They parted ways after the incident. Now, Link is 20, and has finally found Navi. He doesn't know which shock is greater: finding Navi, or returning to the now ruined Hyrule......
