The Legend of Zelda: Return of the Darkness
Hey. This is my first fanfic so please don't judge too harshly.
The Legend of Zelda Return of the Darkness Part 1 It was a bright, sunny spring day and Link sat on the banks of a bubbling stream. He had just finished fishing and decided to lay down and take a nap because it was such a peaceful day. The breeze rustled the leaves on the trees and brought the scent of flowers to his nose. He heard the sound of footsteps approaching and opened his eyes to see Saria looking down on him."You've gotton a little lazy since your adventure, Link." she scolded. "What? I'm just enjoying the lovely spring day. I am allowed to do that, right?" Link asked. "Yea, enjoying the spring day just like you do every day, lazy bones!" she told him. "You should do something constructive like, maybe practice your swordsmanship." Link looked at her and said lazily,"What am I going to practice on? I don't have anything to do it on, and nobody is going to fight with me." Saria shrugged and said, "I don't know, but you still need to get up and do something." Link got up and dusted himself off and said,"Ok, fine I'll go give Epona some exercise and maybe head up to Lon Lon Ranch." Link pulled out his ocarina and played a beautiful tune and heard the aproaching hoofbeats on the springy grass of the Kokiri forest. He turned and quickly leapt into his saddle."I'll see you later, Saria!" He yelled as he rode off."Bye, Link!" she yelled after him. Then she turned and walked back towards her house as she thought about what she wanted for lunch. Link was in Hyrule field trotting Epona at a leisurely pace towards Lon Lon Ranch. When he thought he heard a noise coming from the woods behind him. He quickly turned and looked into the dim woods, but could see nothing. "It must have just been a bird", he thought and turned back around to start heading to the ranch again. From in the woods two red eyes followed his progress. At Lon Lon Ranch, Malon was feeding the horses when she heard the cuccos squawking frantically. She ran to the coop to see what was happening. She wrenched open the door and standing in the coop holding a dead chicken was a moblin. Malon was petrified by the sight of it. It started walking towards her when she remembered her wits and turned to flee. She only got a little ways from the coop because she tripped. The moblin ran over to her and raised its club menacingly when an arrow wizzed throught the air striking it in the head and causing it to explode into smoke. When Malon looked up she saw Link astride Epona in the gate. He hopped off Epona and ran over to her."Malon! Are you ok?" Link cried. "Yes, I think so. I'm so glad you came when you did." She said gratefully. As Malon tried to get up though, she yelled,"Ahhh! My ankle!" Link looked down at her ankle and saw how swollen it was starting to get and said,"How did that happen, Malon?" "I must have twisted it when I fell." She replied. "Ok, hold on I'll get you to your house." He said and with that he picked her up and started carrying her back to her house. As Malon looked up at Link she thought,"He's so brave and strong and kind." When Link noticed her looking at him he started to feel a little awkward and said,"Why are you looking at me like that?" Malons cheeks turned bright red. "Ummm, I was just thinking how lucky I was that you came when you did." She lied. "Oh, ok then. Well you can thank Saria for that. She's the one who made me get up and do something." Link said chuckling on the last part. They had reached the house and Link opened up the door and walked in with Malon. He set her on a little red, overstuffed couch, while he surveyed his surroundings. They were in a cozy little room with a small wood table, three wood chairs, a warm fireplace, and the couch Malon was now laying on. Then a smell wafted from the other room and to Links nose. He smelled a delicious apple pie still in the oven even though it was obviously done. Malon smelled it too and exclaimed,"Oh no! My pie! I hope it didn't burn! Link could you go get it for me?" "Of course, I would be happy to." Link replied trying to hide the devious grin on his face. "And don't eat any of it!" Malon shouted after him as he walked into the kitchen to get the pie. "Darn!" Link thought," I love apple pie." Linked picked up the pie. It smelled so good it made Links mouth water. He brought it back out to Malon with two plates, a knife and two forks behing his back. He brought them knowing that Malon would want to eat some of the pie and would give him a piece. " Link, would you go get us some..." Malon stopped when she saw Link place the items she was about to ask him to go get on the table. "Am I really that predictable?" she thought to herself. "Oh well" She decided as she cut two big slices of pie and gave one to Link, "I made this pie myself. I hope you like it."she said and then she took a bite. When she looked over at Link she was shocked to see that over half of his pie was already gone. "Mmmm, this is delicious!" Link said as he finished the pie. "Link, where do you put everything you eat! You're like a bottomless pit!" Malon exclaimed. "I'm a growing boy. I need my food." Link said with a smile on his face. "You're not a growing boy anymore, but you still eat like one!" Malon said laughing. Link looked at the little clock on the wall and realised how late it was getting and said, "Malon, are you gonna be alright if I leave?" "Yes, my dad will be home soon, but could you finish feeding the horses for me? I was kinda in the middle of doing that when I heard the moblin in the coop." she asked. "Yes, I'd be glad to help." Link replied. Then he started for the door. Link headed over to the barn just as the sun turned the beautiful bright crimson color he loved so much. The sun made all the buildings in the ranch shine a golden color. When he reached the barn he went straight over to the pasture where Epona had managed to jump the fence and was nuzzling her mother lovingly. "I'm glad to see Epona enjoying herself." he thought as he turned and went to get hay and oats for the horses. When he finished he walked out to Epona and got into the saddle. "Come on girl, lets get home." Epone started galloping for the gate and jumped over it. Then they trotted out into Hyrule Field. Out on Hyrule Field the grass was shining in the sunlight and the breeze made the flowers sway bck and forth as if they were dancing. "It's days like this that makes me glad to be alive" Link thought as Epona trotted toward the Kokiri forest. He heard approaching hoofbeats and placed his hand on the hilt of the Master Sword as he turned around. When he saw it was only the mailman he took his hand off of his sword and went to greet him."Hello Link, It's good to see you." he said. "Yes, it's nice to see you too."Link replied. "Ah yes, I almost forgot you have a letter Link. From Princess Zelda, sir." the mailman stated. "Oh, thank you for delivering it to me." Link said as he place a blue rupee in the mans hand."Oh thank you ,Link, and have a good day." the mailman said. Then he galloped off to deliver the rest of his mail. Link turned back toward the forest and started off again, reading his letter from Zelda. It said "Dearest Link, I would greatly enjoy it if you would come to dinner tommorrow. I know you don't like dining at the palace ,but I would still like you to come. And don't worry I told daddy to be nice. Love, Zelda" "Oh great!" Link thought, "I HATE the palace. And the King doesn't like how Zelda looks at me." "Well, I can't very well say no, so I guess I have no choice unless I want to mke Zelda mad at me." And with that Link entered the Kokiri forest. He was riding on Epona through a tunnel of trees when she suddenly reared up, and Link ,caught off guard, almost fell off. He looked aroung for the reason she reared and saw it, or rather them. Three skull faced lizalfos tepped out from behind the trees. Link jumped off his horse and attacked one, while Epona the faithful horse she was attacked another with her hooves. With two of its brethren down, the third lizalfos ran off in search of easier prey. Link was about to try and kill it with an arrow when he realized it was too late, the lizalfos was gone. He turned back to Epona to check for injuries seeing none he hopped back on and galloped into the village to make sure nobody was hurt. In the village, Saria was making dinner for herself and Link because she knew he would be hungry when he got back. She was just abouut to put her roasted cucco on the table when she heard Eponas' hoofbeats on the grass outside. Link had made sure everyone was ok, and had decided to go see if Saria had anything to eat."I'm starving! And I think I smell roasted cucco! Mmmm." Link thought a he walked up to her house. Saria looked out the window and sure enough there was Link coming to see if she had anything to eat. "He's getting very predictable around dinner time." she thought with a smile."Hey Saria! Do you mind if I come in!" Link yelled to her. "Of course I don't mind get in here before your dinner gets cold!"She yelled back laughing. Link came through the door and sat right down, waiting for Saria to put the last bit of food on the table."So, how was Lon Lon Ranch?"Saria asked curious."It was ok. Malon got attacked by a moblin."Link replied between bites of food."Oh my goodness! Is she ok?"Exclaimed Saria."Yes, she twisted her ankle, but I killed the moblin before it could do much harm." Link told her."Oh, well thats good."Saria said, very relieved." Oh yea, don't bother making a big dinner for me tommorrow. Zelda invited me over to the palace for dinner."Link told her."Oh ok then." Saria replied. For the rest of dinner Saria and Link just talked about the weather and how spring had come early this year. After a while they both began to yawn and Link decided to head home."Ok well i'm gonna go to bed now Saria. Thanks for the great dinner. See you tommorrow!" he said as he walked toward his house. Saria cleaned up the dinner mess and went to bed. She was out a soon as her head hit the pillow. Back at Links place he was just about to fall asleep when he started hearing something in his house. He lit his lanter to see a squirrel nibbling on one of his boots."Hey! Give that back your gonna make a hole in it!" he yelled at the squirrel. The squirrel looked at him and then jumped out the window with his boot. "HEY! Thats mine bring it back!" he yelled as he sprung to the window. He broke off a stick from his tree and poked the squirrel untill it dropped his boot. He went down to get it and finally laid back down to go to sleep."Stupid squirrel." He mumbled before falling asleep.LInk was having a strange dream. He was in a dark, gloomy room with stone walls, some pillars and with him was a wolf with a coat of pure black. He turned to the wolf and pulled out his sword. Then he sliced at the wolf as it leapt at him, making a deep gash from the wolfs' chest to the middle of its stomache. The force of his blow flung the wolf across the room where it hit the wall and fell to the floor where it moved no more. But he could still hear the pained cry of the wolf when he struck it.Then he woke up, but he didn't remember the dream.Though he did hear something outside howling in pain. He grabbed his sword and pulled on his boots. Then ran outside to see what was going on. The cry was coming from deeper in the woods. Link started to run towards it. When he got close enough he saw what was going on. In a clearing, in the woods there was a cave made from rock, and in front of that cave was the lizalfos he had failed to kill and 6 stalhounds. And strewn about the place were dead bodies of wolves and some 12 dead stalhounds. In all there were 9 dead wolves. Link pulled out his sword and killed the lizalfos and then the stalhounds. When he turned back towards the cave a sad sight greeted his eyes. Strewn about the front of the cave were 5 adult wolves. Link walked past them further into the cave to see the dead mother with 4 pups behind her dead body. The pups had just opened their eyes to see the world and the monsters had killed them. Link counted them a ll again, but he found that there were 10 wolves, instead of nine.He went to look at the pups all of them but one had the same grey coloring that thier mother had. But the fourth was pure black.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Return of the Darkness
I understand this is your first story. I would very much like to take a peek at this, but there are two things preventing me from doing so-
1) Your font size. Why did you have to have your text small? Just use the normal font size; with it small like that, I have a hard time reading your story. 2) When a new person speaks, start a new line. Every roughly five or so lines, break off and start a new paragraph. Gigantic paragraphs like that are also difficult to read. Compounded by the small text, it makes it next to impossible for me to read this. If you can edit this with those two changes, I'll take a peek at this again, Wolf Demon. From what I could read, it seems like you have a good start here. |
