(ZGen,Fan,Act,) The Sword of Apathy [T]

Hey, been a while since I've posted here. Last stories have been sorta stupid so, hopefully this will change that. 1st two chapters here, hope you enjoy. (Oh, and Tragedy might play into this story later, but not right now. Not that it matters)

Chapter 1…The Rude Awakening

“Oh…where are you…why did you leave me?”

Link solemnly rode through the endless forest of what he thought was Termina. He had traveled so far that he didn’t know where he was anymore. He had only left Clock Town about two months ago, but it felt like an eternity of green and cold air, as he saw nothing else. Termina was safe now and no longer needed his help, so he resumed his search for his friend, Navi.
Link came across a stream that bubbled out of a long dead tree stump, and decided that it would be best if he spent the night there. Epona snorted her agreement.
The young hero, now 13, stacked some small loose twigs and sticks over some stones he found to make a fire for warmth and cooking, and used the bigger ones to form a makeshift shelter for Epona and himself. Now, what to cook? This forest either had no life besides trees, or hid it very well, for he saw no creature in weeks. He decided to eat leaves and berries from a nearby bush, maybe even try to cinder them to make it taste remotely better. Epona grazed on some browning grass under a tall tree, perfectly happy to chew the night away. Link though, needed some sleep. He beckoned Epona into the small shelter, and they both rested under the cool misty sky, as the leaves fell around them. The darkness crept into Link’s eyes, as he dozed off…

BOOM! Link’s shelter collapsed under the noise off the explosion, and Epona reared up in terror. Link’s sword was out before he realized it, pointing in the direction of the noise. Smoke and dust drifted into the campsite, as well as the noise of many men, or monsters, yelling and screaming. BOOM! Another explosion echoed though the soundless valley, shaking more leaves off the towering trees. This time though, he could see what was causing it. Eight men, clothed in black, dashed into the clearing and formed a circle facing outward into the forest. Link stayed right where he was, his sword ready at his side. Then, about 10 stalfos ambushed the circle, their jagged blades thirsting for blood. Two Stalfos caught sight of Link, and they rushed toward him. He crouched down, held his sword out toward the monsters, and released all of his energy into a spin. The monsters were thrown back slightly and took the defensive position. Link lunged toward one, while swiping the other across the neck, decapitating it, and then followed through with the swing crushing the other one’s ribs. They both fell down in a heap of bones and dust.
The men in black had dispatched their attackers as well, and were salvaging the remains. One of them, who looked about Link’s age, finally noticed Link, and the damage he dealt fighting the Stalfos.
“Who are you?” He asked, walking towards Link with one hand on his dagger.
Link held out his hands, “I mean no harm, I was attack too.” He said calmly. The boy loosened his grip on the dagger.
“I ask again, who are you?”
“My name is Link. Who are you?”
The boy hesitated. “I am Javir.” He looked at the pile of bones, “And it seems we’re both on the same side.”
“What side is that?” Link asked.
“For Hyrule; we are Sheika returning to serve our beloved land.” Link’s heart leapt.
“You’re going to Hyrule? How far is it? Can I go with you?”
“You are from there?”
“Yes, the forest was my home…wow, I never realized how long it’s been since I’ve seen it last…” Link whispered distantly. The Sheika Javir looked him over for some time and stepped back to his companions. They were years older than he was, but it appeared that he was their leader. After much deliberation, Javir walked back to Link.
“Alright, you can come with us to Kakariko Village. That is where we will train and live until the king calls on us. Are you familiar with that place too?
“Yes, I am.”
“Good…then it looks like we have another companion.” Javir smirked. Link returned it. He was going home.

Chapter 2…Life Stories

The only bad thing about joining Javir and his small army was that he never found who he was looking for. Almost 3 years of searching was all in vane. No, it was not in vane. He saved Termina from the spirit Majora and even made new friends in the process, including his run-in with Javir. His friends…everyone he met in Hyrule during his quest wouldn’t remember him, except for Zelda. This might be harder going back than he thought.

They formed two side by side lines with Link and Javir in the front as they rode through the tangled forest.

“You know, this forest is so huge, that whole armies have gotten lost in them.” Javir explained. “Of course, they weren’t commanded by the brightest bunch of generals either. I never understood how people can get lost and walk in circles.”
“Oh yeah? Well you should try finding your way into the Forest Temple through the Lost Woods.” Link laughed. Javir laughed too.
“Well, I hope I have time for all of that when I start my training in Kakariko. Everyone keeps saying I’m, ‘The Chosen One’, or, ‘The Protector of the Sacred Blade’. It gets old pretty fast.
This line threw Link off a bit. Chosen One…Sacred Blade? Who exactly had he run into?
“What do you mean by that, Javir?” Link paused slightly before he said his name.
His smile faded and he looked down at his saddle. “I probably shouldn’t have said anything.” He looked up. “Well, it looks like you’re one of us now anyway, you might as well know…” Link could sense the others shift uneasily.

“I was told since I was little that I was…gifted. They always made me out to be too strong, or too fast, or too dangerous even, but I never understood why…I never thought that I was different from the other kids. I was taught how to use a blade when my friends were taught how to play games. I was taught how to survive in the wilderness with only my brain and my knife while the others were taught how to swim and cook, and with constant supervision. I was always on my own, out there to fend for myself.” He paused for a few breaths. Link listened intently.

“See that sword on my back?” Link just noticed it as soon as he said it. It was wrapped up in gray cloth and strapped firmly to his back over his longcoat. It had a strange hilt that almost looked like the butt of a crossbow, but also had long body too, which Link assumed as the blade.
“I never used that sword in my life, but I was required to constantly carry it on my back. Eventually I was sent away, suddenly too, to go to Hyrule for training in its use…and that’s my life in a nutshell.”

Link was silent for some time, contemplating what he just heard. He couldn’t help but think that Javir was sent from his home to Hyrule so abruptly for a reason. And if he was a chosen one or a protector, this couldn’t be good. Maybe they had crossed paths for a reason.

“What about you Link? What’s your story? Annoying as mine?” Javir smiled.
Link laughed. “You sure you’re up for this?”
“Eh, why not? We still have some time to kill.”
“Well, Ok…if you insist.”
