(ZGen/Rom/Act)Legend of Link: The Fatal Game[T]

Hello there! Well, some people might remember my stories, such as the Dark Link series, which didn't exactly work that well with number 3. Also, the After MM story, and it's sequel, Sonura: Link's Last Adventure, even though it really wasn't, when I added Legend of Zelda: The Finale. Then I attempted another few stories, which didn't work at all.

And now, here I am, posting another story. Am I mad? I hope not. Am I insane? Maybe. Am I stupid for trying another story after what happened with my last ones? Most likely. But I'm hoping that the answer for all three of those is "no". Especially the first two.

Well, this is a completely different story from my last ones. It's on a different plotline, and has nothing to do with my previous ones. Okay? Got it? Good. Just had to get that out of the way. Well here it is!

Edit: As the only one's who'll be reading this now are new readers, only comment in the sequel, please. If you find any typos, please PM me with them. I'm a bit too lazy to pick them out.

Legend of Link: The Fatal Game

Chapter 1

Link is not a normal Hylian. As you most likely know, he is the Hero of Time, and after leaving Hyrule, he found himself in a parallel world, called Termina, where he stopped the moon from crashing and destroying everything in sight. You also may remember that he had gone on a journey to find a friend he had parted with at the end of his first journey. After his second journey, he continued searching.

A lot of things were possible at this point. Some believe he came back to Hyrule after finding Navi, while others believe he stayed there forever, and died of malnourishment. Others have no idea what that word means, and believe he died by not having enough food (which is the exact same thing). Some people hope that he survived, and went on to other worlds, finding himself in more trouble than most people think is possible.

But this story is not about those possibilities, or even an account of his previous life. It is about what is currently happening to him, as he continues his search. He is currently in the Lost Woods, and it has been seven years since he began his search, including the time he spent in Termina (a grand total of three days added to the rest of the time used, 2,552 days).

Much sadness has met Link, as his journey almost seems pointless. First of all, he has no reason to believe that Navi ever came into this forest, besides the sound of a fairy he continually hears. Second, he can't return to Hyrule, so he can't give up on his search. Maybe he has to find her, and he can't go back until he does. Third, Epona has died, and Link doesn't want to let her life have been lived in vain.

Thoughts of suicide have reached Link so many times, yet a small hope has kept him sane. His one sole purpose that has kept him going: the thought of going back to Kokiri Forest once all this was over. He missed Hyrule so much, but more than all, he missed being able to live a normal Kokiri life with his friends. It was the one thing he would dream about, besides the goal of finding Navi.

Now, November 11, year unknown, in the Lost Woods, with only berries and stream water for dinner, Link wished more than anything that he had some better supplies. His bottles all had broken three years before, and his masks along with them. The only masks to survive were Kamaro's Mask, Romani's Mask, and the Bunny Hood, because they were made of different material than the rest of them. And those were useless, unless he wanted to do a retarded dance, or he ran into a Milk Bar in the woods. And the Bunny Hood was too small for him now. So he threw those away as soon as he could.

His sword was now way too small for him. Not like he would use it anyway. He occasionally used it when he found a dead animal, and wanted to get some meat off of it. Of course, on a diet of berries and plain water, you can very well lose your sense of manners when faced with a huge chunk of meat. So sometimes he wouldn't bother to take it out. And it never was a pleasant sight.

Though his shield was still useful, he seldom had to protect himself, exceptions being when he faced a living wild animal, and when he met a Stalfos, formed from another traveler, in which case he was forced to use his sword. When not faced with either situation, he used it for a plate to put meat from animals on.

His bow broke in the first year, when he pulled back too hard when trying to kill a bird for food. Thus, fire, ice, and light arrows were no good, since they were too heavy to throw. Magic doesn't work like that. They had to be used with a bow. So they were useless now. And after a while, the lens on the Lens of Truth broke.

In short, all he had right now was a sword, a shield, his hookshot, the Ocarina of Time, a bag (originally to hold bombs) that he used for holding food such as meat (yet not berries, since they would get squished together, and he would have to wash it out, and the berries wouldn't taste half as good), and his clothes, which were, of course, one size fits all.

As Link finished drinking from the stream, a small speck of red appeared on the water's crystal clear surface for a second. Link looked up, but saw the sky was as clear as ever, the trees were as close as ever, and there was no sign of anything that resembled the color red, except the occasional ripening poki berry. Had he been imagining things? Link shrugged it off, and washed his face in the stream.

"Link!" said a familiar voice. Link jumped to his feet, looking around madly. Navi? No, it wasn't Navi. His mind was playing tricks on him. It did that sometimes… "Link, I know you can hear me!"

Link coughed. This couldn't be a trick. Unless his mind was getting smarter. There was only one way to make sure.

"…" Said Link, realizing too late that he hadn't spoken in seven years. He hadn't had a reason for a long time. Now that he did, he couldn't make a sound. Now he could just hope this was a hallucination. This person didn't seem like they would be too happy with him for not replying. Link tried again to make a sound, but all that came out was a small squeak.

Instead, Link tried to signal this person by playing his ocarina. He played it occasionally, so he knew he could do it without any shortage of breath. He played Saria's Song, a bit slower than it was normally played, and hoped whoever it was would be able to recognize him from that. Obviously, it was the signal the person was looking for, because the person suddenly let out a sigh, and appeared before him.

"You're not as…cool…as you used to be," said the Skull Kid. "You used to be able to take out your ocarina in two seconds. I guess I've been plagued with age too, but…"

Link would've gasped if he could. Skull Kid looked nothing like when he had left him seven years ago. Sure, he was wearing red, but his mouth was now exactly like a beak, sharp as a sword. His hat had been replaced by an assortment of feathers, each a different color and shade. His boots were now blue, but were still curved up at the end. His gloves were now purple, and his belt was made of triangles instead of circles. In his hand, he held a red ocarina.

"See? I got myself an ocarina too," he said, quickly playing Saria's Song. "Awesome isn't it? Speechless? I was too when I saw it."

Link did his best to make something come out of his mouth, but to no avail. He just couldn't talk. He pointed at his mouth, and shook his head.

"What? You're not speechless? Well, even if you're not, it's not that hard to think of what to say, is it?"

Link slapped his face. He made an X with his fingers, and put it over his mouth.

"Link, I think you got it wrong. You put one finger on your mouth to say 'be quiet'."

"…!" Link said, trying to get his message across in a different way.

"What? If you've got something to say, say it!"

Link looked around, and took some poki berries from a nearby bush. He pulled off his shield, and flipped it to the mirror side. He poked a berry with his finger, and used the juice to write out I CAN'T TALK on the shield, before showing it to Skull Kid.

"Why the hell did you mess up your shield like that? Oh, I get it! That's supposed to say something! Sorry, I can't read."

"He can't talk, Skull Kid!" said another familiar voice from behind Link. He turned to see Tatl and Tael, yet he couldn't be sure who had finally conveyed his situation to Skull Kid. Link put his shield in the stream, and dried it off with his bag. "Skull Kid, you haven't even learned to read yet. You shouldn’t have left school."

"Damn it, they found me…" Skull Kid said. "Man, you know what school's like. Everyone keeps laughing at me about how I look. It's enough to make me go crazy!"

"Which is why we put you in private classes," said Tael, taking a seat on top of Skull Kid's head. "Why did you run away?"

"The teacher made fun of me!"

Link laughed, yet not loudly enough for people to notice, thanks to his predicament. Even if they did, he wouldn't have been the only one. Everyone broke out laughing, including Skull Kid himself.

"I'll have to have a talk with him about that…" said Tatl, in an after-laugh tone (you know what I'm talking about).

"Well anyway, I thought I might as well check up on my good friend Link," Skull Kid said. "Seems I came at the right time."

"The right time? He's been here for about seven years, hasn't he? This probably started a long time ago," said Tatl. "The least we can do is find a Great Fairy nearby…I know! We'll go to the Great Fairy of the Woods!"

"Wow, I never woulda thought of that…" Tael mumbled. Skull Kid snickered.

Link picked a few extra poki berries, and disobeyed his rule by putting them in the bag. Then he put away his ocarina, and slapped his sword and shield on his back.

"By the way," said Tatl, "whatever happened to your horse? Epona, I think it was called."

Link was no longer sensitive about this topic, having eaten all of Epona's meat himself. He put his finger to his throat, and made the slashing sign, without the sound, obviously.

"Oh…I'm sorry."

Link tried to say, "It's ok", but obviously he couldn't.

"By the way," said Tatl, "how come you never came to visit us?"

Link shrugged.

"Well you should. We've been missing you," said Skull Kid.

"By the way," said Tatl, not noticing her excessive use of the phrase, "why didn't you talk to yourself or something? Woulda saved you the trouble of losing your voice."

Link didn't even try to say anything this time.

"Oh shut up, Tatl," Tael said. "He can't talk, so what's the point of asking him? Wait until we get to the Great Fairy."

Link wished he could've gone to get his voice back in more professional company, but he was at their mercy now, so he shouldn't really be complaining (Then again, he couldn't). If only he had found Navi a long time ago…he yearned so much to return to Hyrule…Maybe he could get the others to help search. The first step would be to get his voice back…then his search could continue, and with more manpower. Maybe they were his key to finding Navi this whole time! Maybe that's why he wound up in Termina! Link was now very excited to hurry and get his voice back as soon as possible. His search could be over finally…finally.

With that in mind, he led the rest of them, having Tatl tell him the way. Things were finally looking up.

Re: (ZGen)Legend of Link: The Fatal Game[T]

Okay...I'll take that silence of no posts as meaning that it's good...unlike I usually do...

Well, here's chapter two. Remember, if there are any typos, tell me.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 2

Dark Link is not a normal shadow. As you most likely know, he is a mini-boss in the Water Temple, who Link fought on his first journey. You may also remember that when fighting him, Link noticed that the more time he spent fighting, the more solid Dark Link was becoming. But when he was defeated, he disappeared.

A lot of things were possible at this point. Some believe he was dead, while others thought that he left the dungeon, and found his destiny in Hyrule, where he was given a new identity. And others just think he went back to Ganondorf, who supposedly made him, to tell him how far Link had gotten.

But this story is not about those possibilities, or an account of his previous life. It is about what is currently happening to him, as he continues to sulk. He is currently in the Water Temple, waiting for someone to come and challenge him, as he had been told would happen. It has been one month since he had first been placed in the temple with no idea of what to do other than fight Link, the guy that he had been made to look like. They told him it would only take a few days, but one month had passed.

Much sadness has met Dark Link, as his life seems pointless. His existence in the Water Temple seemed meaningless since Link never arrived, and he no longer received information on Link's progress from Morpha, the boss of the temple. Well, obviously nothing was happening.

Thoughts of suicide had reached his mind many times. But since he was what he was, that was practically impossible. Only one thing kept him going: the thought of one day finding out who this Link was, and leaving the Water Temple for good. But it didn't seem like that would be happening anytime soon.

Now, November 12, year unknown, with no food (he doesn't need any since he's a shadow), he wishes above all else that he could leave the Water Temple. So he decided that he didn't care what Morpha said, and that he was leaving, though he didn't know where to.

Dark Link trudged across the toe-deep pool, towards the door on the far end. He knew this temple like the back of his hand, but still these two doors always confused him. He always hoped he'd find himself in front of a treasure chest holding some mysterious item, but often times found that a certain Like-Like was getting really annoyed when Dark Link walked in on it dancing, with Tektites singing along with the temple's background music.

This time, he was relieved to the see the mysterious treasure chest, and decided that since he was leaving, he might as well take whatever he could find with him. He opened it slowly, expecting a trap. But when he thrust it open after ten seconds of suspense, he found that it was simply…something.

A small device with a handle at one end and a sharp point on the other. There was a long metal chain inside it, coiled around its own end, which attached to the sharp metal point at the top. In short, it was a grappling hook of sorts. Dark Link looked at the side, and read: LONGSHOT. Turning it over, he saw a label that looked like it could be peeled off. It said: KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN AGES 0-17. DO NOT POINT AT ANYONE. And so on, explaining all the risks of the Longshot. Dark Link peeled it off, and dropped it on the floor, where it instantly stuck to the stone.

He put the Longshot away, and put his foot on the center of a block in the floor, as he had been instructed by Morpha to do so. The block disappeared, revealing a long drop down to a wooden platform. Dark Link jumped down, and quickly ran through the room, not being susceptible to the whirlpools, but passing through them just like the rest of the water. He walked through the gate on the far side of the room, and onward, towards the center room of the temple.

Here, the creatures must have been made aware of his intentions, because they started to attack him. He hesitated, but then took out his dark sword and slashed them apart with one swipe each. Then he swam over to the entrance, or in this case the exit, to the temple, the strange green gem he had found from killing the Tektites in his hand.

As soon as he got outside, he floated to the surface of the water, and got onto land. Here he faced some things that you would've thought he'd never seen before. But he had not been created in the Water Temple. He had come from Ganon's Castle, so he knew of some things. But the one thing that did surprise him was that the lake was full. When he had come, it had shrunk as the Water Temple had come into power. But now the lake was beautiful. Beautiful? Where did that word come from? Dark Link had never used the word "beautiful". He hardly knew what it meant. But seeing this view just made the meaning clear to him for the first time.

He walked onto the bridge, and saw that the ring he had seen far away in the sky before was gone. Heck, even the constant cloudy sky had been changed to a beautiful day. There wasn't one bad thing in sight.

As he walked away from the Research Lab, he noticed that the stench had gone from the land. There was just nothing bad about anything now. Was Ganondorf that good of a leader? Then why did he resort to drying up the lake? And trying to kill somebody by putting Dark Link and Morpha in the Temple? It just didn't fit.

Outside the Lake Hylia area, Dark Link noticed something he had never thought of before: music. Not the weird noises from the Water Temple, but actual music. There were loud shouts coming from a building in the middle of Hyrule Field. That's where the music was. Dark Link set out at a fast pace for the building.

As he ran, a change started to happen to him. His feet now made a soft squishing noise under him, as his feet were wet…but when he looked down, he didn't see shadow…he saw a boot! His whole body was changing. His sword turned silver, and the hilt blue, with a small yellow diamond in it. His shield now had the official knight of Hyrule symbol on it. He had clothes. They seemed pretty gay, but at least they were clothes. He had a black shirt, and some sort of leggings. The shirt made it look like a skirt at the bottom, since it was long, and a belt ran over the bottom of it, almost separating it from the rest. And on his head, he had a black cap.

He stopped a minute to try and understand this new look, and headed out again. But before he went two feet, something else changed. He had sharp pain in his stomach, and the more he walked, the more it kept hurting. What was this? He hadn't been hurt ever in his life. What was happening? A small grumble came from his stomach, and the pain subsided a little. He suddenly felt the urge to…consume, or eat ("eat" wasn't in his vocabulary yet).

He finally stepped into the area he had been walking towards, and saw that there was a huge amount of people there. People of all different shapes, sizes, and colors. There were bluish white people, with their skin hanging off their arms and heads. There were light brown/tan people, who looked more like rocks than living beings. Then there were normal people. Some smaller than others, some with slightly darker color. It seemed like some sort of party.

Walking farther forward, Dark Link noticed that there were actually three buildings. One on the right, one on his left, and one small one across a long field, where everyone was gathered. He walked towards the building on the left, and opened the door, simply out of curiosity.

"Wait, I thought you said he took the ocarina?" asked a woman with long red hair. She wore a plain white dress which reached down to her feet. Around her neck she wore a necklace with a strange creature on it. "How were you able to give it to him later?"

"That's what I don't understand... Link!" shouted another woman, with long blonde hair. She was wearing a long pink dress, with a design hanging from her waist that looked sort of like the one on his shield. "So you did return!" She ran up and hugged him, leaving Dark Link confused. Then he remembered; he looked just like Link. This must've been Link's friend or something.

As she backed away, Dark Link saw her smile and couldn't help thinking that she was…beautiful. But a different kind of beautiful. The sky could be beautiful, a lake reflecting the rays of the sun could be beautiful. But there is a certain way that a person can be beautiful that is very different from anything in nature.

Quickly, he caught himself before either one of them noticed that he was staring.

"So Link," asked the red-haired woman, "where'd you go?"

Dark Link suddenly felt very warm. What was this feeling? He couldn’t answer the question, since he wasn't really Link. What would he say?

Then, right when Dark Link opened his mouth, the door burst open, and he jumped out of the way. In the doorway stood a little boy with red hair, though it was bit less…shiny…than the woman's. He also wore a green tunic, with a cap, which Dark Link guessed was a similar version of his own, but for youth.

"Link!" he said, grabbing Dark Link's arm. "Is it really you? Someone just told me you were-"

"No, I'm not," Dark Link said, without thinking. Too late, he caught himself. The boy walked out in silence, his head hung low.

"Why'd you lie to that little boy?" asked the beautiful woman, making a bit of an angry face. It wasn't as charming as her usual expression.

"Zelda, calm down," said the red-haired girl. "Link already told me seven years ago. That boy's from Kokiri Village, and he used to hate Link. But then Link left the village, and now he sort of wishes he were back. But you know, I think we can agree that it would be better for him if he didn't see Link."

"Why?"

"Because they thought Link was a Kokiri the whole time, and finding out that he wasn't would make them a bit more likely to hate him for being…the Great Deku Tree's favorite, I think he said."

"Malon, why don't you let Link say something? He hasn't said a word to us yet. Don't you want to hear what happened?"

"Oh, sorry," said Malon, turning back to Dark Link. "Please tell us about your journey, Link."

Dark Link was frightened. What was he supposed to say? If only someone was there to explain to them who he really was. He was in no state to do so. His legs felt like jelly, something he had never heard of before, since he never ate anything. He clutched his stomach, as it gave another grumble.

Malon and Zelda laughed. "I guess you're a bit too hungry to explain, huh?" said Malon, walking to a table which held tons of different items. They all looked good. But how would Dark Link know? Suddenly it seemed like he had a new life. He felt different; he now had some sort of yearning for something or other, and the stuff on the table seemed to make the pain worse, almost as if the sight of these objects teased his stomach…then that was it. "Hungry", was it? That's what he was feeling then.

There was loads of stuff for him to learn, and not much time to learn it. If he wanted to look good in front of this beautiful woman, for whatever reason his mind thought he should, he would have to act normal. If only he knew what that was.

Well, hope you liked that chapter. If you're wondering, there won't be much more of this sort of chapter. I'm not just going to be introducing everyone. Don't worry, the main plot comes next time.

I'm just surprised I came up with this stuff in one day...lol. Well, please post! Tell me if you like it, and if you spot any typos.

Re: (ZGen)Legend of Link: The Fatal Game[T]

Look, someone's gotta reply sometime. I'm coming up with these chapters so easily. They're just coming to me so quickly. But this third one was a bit different. Not as good as the first two, I'm afraid. But I tried my best.

So enjoy!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 3

Fierce Deity Link was not a normal…deity (though he is powerful). As you most likely know, he has only made one appearance in the entire Legend of Zelda series. This is for one reason: After helping Link defeat Majora, his mask was broken. So Link could no longer make himself into the deity. So F.D. Link, for short, has been lost to the world of Termina forever.

Though we can't introduce him the same way as the others, we can at least tell you where he is, and what his dilemma is. He is currently in the Dark Realm, for one reason only: he is an evil deity. Along with Ganondorf, Majora, and Vaati, he waits for the end of time, when they will be punished.

Obviously, nothing is there to keep them sane, except each other and the hope that they might be able to escape the realm. The only one with this hope was obviously Ganondorf, since we all probably know that he did escape, only to be killed by the future Link. Majora and Vaati, however, weren't going anywhere. Fierce Deity could only hope he had a chance.

Vaati created a small tornado, and invited the rest to jump in with him, which was one of their many idiotic past-times. Majora went in, but Ganondorf and Fierce Deity stayed.

"Hey Deity," said Ganondorf, "do you know if it's possible to commit suicide here?"

"It's not," Fierce Deity replied, in his very dark, deep voice. "It's like that so we go crazy quick. We can't end our lives yet. We never can…we're going to be tortured after this…forever…"

"Unless we find a way out…" said Ganondorf, looking around. "Can't you just use your powers to get us out?"

"No, it's impossible. The only way would be to break the seal…but you can't do that unless they get new sages…and that never happens."

"Isn't there some way to kill sages?"

"Look, the only way is if one of the seven sages became mortal, or never became immortal in the first place. Then you can kill 'em. But otherwise, it's impossible."

"Well I think Zelda's still mortal…" Ganondorf said with a grin. "She's probably hoping that her precious Link will come back."

"Well I know for a fact that he won't. So yes, I guess you can kill her then. But only if you have someone in the world who knows. You can't go there yourself, because of the seal."

"Damn, we're stuck then, aren't we?"

"Yep."

"Then again, once she dies of aging, we should be able to--"

"She's not stupid. By then she'll have made herself immortal. Now stop trying to get information from me. I want to get out much more than you do, so stop acting like you're the only one."

"Why the hell are you even here?"

"I'm evil, duh," Fierce Deity said, even though he knew it was for a different reason.

"Yeah, but you killed Majora. Doesn't that make you on the good side?"

"No, I did it because I held a grudge for him. It's the only reason he was trying to destroy Termina. To make me mad. If he hadn't made me into a mask, I woulda killed him. But he did, and kept me for five thousand years, inside that moon with those retarded kids running around playing 'tag'. He tried to make me mad! And what's worse, he lent me to some little kid, and now I'm looking just like him!" It was true. Originally, Fierce Deity's ears were rounded, and for some reason, he felt it a huge difference.

"Calm down, it's not that bad. At least you didn't get stabbed in the head…"

"But now that I killed him, that stupid kid goes and breaks the mask! The idiot…"

This sort of conversation happened every day. Ganondorf was constantly searching for a way to leave the Dark Realm, as you would have if you were there. But it seemed that he was starting to get somewhere with it.

"I have the perfect plan," Ganondorf said. "All we gotta do is make a sage come here."

"Sages only come here when they want to," Fierce Deity shot at him. "Don't get your hopes up. And even if you did get one of them to come, just what would you do?"

"Is there a way?"

"Maybe…but first tell me what you're going to do."

"Well…if we could get…Ruto…to come here…I might be able to persuade her to help out."

"No person in their right mind would help you."

"Yeah, but she never is. She's crazy about Link. So, if I make her think that Zelda's staying mortal so she can be with Link…"

"I see. Great plan, except she can't even be with Link herself, and she knows it. She won't become mortal again because it requires too much energy."

"Believe me, I can be pretty persuasive when I need to be."

"Well I guess I could help you…but only if you promise me one thing."

"What?"

"You have to let me leave the realm first."

"Sure thing."
------------------------------------
Fierce Deity stabbed his sword into the ground, and backed away. He put his hands on the ground, and closed his eyes. This needed a lot of concentration. But it would be worth it. His sword suddenly disappeared, and on the same spot appeared Ruto.

"Oh, it's you!" she said, rolling her eyes. "I thought it was Saria or something. She's always bothering me. So what do you want?"

"I have a bit of information for you," said Ganondorf, stepping closer to Ruto.

"For me? Well whatever it is, I probably already know. I am a sage after all."

"Look, we know how much you like Link. But you should know that Zelda is-"

"I know, I know. But it's not like she's gonna be going with him. I just checked on him. He's in the Lost Woods still. I spy on-I mean, I watch over him all the time," she said, blushing.

"Well he's almost found Navi, that little--I mean, he's almost done searching so…he'll be back in Hyrule in no time. So that means he'll be greeted by Zelda, and before you know it--"

"Shut up! My Link would never--"

"'Your Link' doesn't even consider you as a friend. And it's because of Zelda. Don't try and deny it, Princess."

"Then I'll…just have to meet him before she does."

"Well don't forget that there's Saria."

"Shut up! Link wouldn't cheat on me! I'm not gonna kill Zelda or Saria! I'm not a mur…wait a minute…you're…"

"Smooth, Ganon, very smooth," said Fierce Deity sarcastically, putting his hands behind his back.

"Shut up Deity!"

"You're not going to trick me into breaking your seal, Ganon!"

"You know--"

"I know it all, Ganon! No amount of facts is going to change my mind!"

"Maybe you would think differently if--"

"Actually, I think I might…" Ruto said, a smirk on her face. Fierce Deity knew that smirk. "If…"

"If what?"

"If…you beg me."

"What?!" Ganondorf practically screamed.

"You know, grovel a bit. Beg me. It just might make me want to."

"I think you should take that offer," said Fierce Deity. "But if you do, wait 'til I round up the other guys. It should be amusing."

"Shut up! I'm not going to beg!"

"I won't help it if you won't."

Ganondorf gave in.
--------------------------

"That was…so…funny…" said Fierce Deity, between panting. Ganondorf had done it, and Ruto was thinking it over.

"Hmm…well…nah, I won't."

"In all fairness, he deserves something for that," said Fierce Deity, hardly able to contain the laughter.

"Okay, I'll open the seal for one second, how about that?"

"No," said Ganondorf, remembering his deal with Fierce Deity. "At least make it five."

"What, are you that heav-"

"No!"

Fierce Deity walked slowly towards Ruto at this point. His left hand was still behind his back, but they could both tell it wasn't the only thing he was hiding.

"I have a better deal," he said, revealing a small dagger. "How about you let me out? If you do, I won't kill you."

"What?" said Ruto, laughing. "Kill me?"

"Yeah. If you haven't noticed, I summoned you with my double helix sword. And that creates the Binding Spell. Combine that with my spell that makes all immortals mortal in this land, you are vulnerable to anything right now. So what'll it be?"

Ruto sighed. "'Kay, I'll let you go. I know you won't do anything."

"What?!" screamed Ganondorf again. "You believe him?!"

"Ganondorf, you tried to take over the world. This guy just got the title 'Fierce' because he got a little angry. He killed Majora! I didn't really agree with the other sages about sealing him but…six always beats one."

Suddenly, both Ruto and Fierce Deity disappeared. They reappeared in Hyrule Field. It was November 15, year unknown, and Fierce Deity wished above all else to do one thing.

"So what are you planning on doing?" asked Ruto, staying with him for a while just to make sure he didn't actually do what Ganon thought he would.

"Have you ever heard of the Trivulian Tournament?"

Re: (ZGen)Legend of Link: The Fatal Game[T]

Hey everybody, thanks! I was begining to think no one really cared! I welcome the praise.

And Sonic Boom, you might as well not post if you haven't already read it. You're the only one on ZU that I know in real life, so you don't have to post everything after you've already told me over the phone, lol.

And sorry SB, but it's gonna get a bit longer now. Fourth chapter is here!

Edit: Above replies have been deleted.

Chapter 4

Link popped a poki berry in his mouth and quickly spit it back out. Eating the same grape-like taste for three days can get really…disgusting.

"So how much farther?" asked Skull Kid, staring at his poki berry, wondering if he should eat it or not. "These things remind me too much of that stupid mask, Majora." Everyone stared at him. "Well it ate some poki berries once while it possessed me!"

"Well…" Tatl tried to change the subject back to the journey. "We're not too far away from the fountain, so I'd say about one more hour."

Tael sunk into Skull Kid's head of feathers for warmth. "Why is it so damn cold?" he asked, shivering and making the feathers move.

"It's November, stupid," Tatl said, shivering as well. Link looked up suddenly, and Tatl followed his gaze. "Looks like it's snowing."

And as if on cue, the small clearing suddenly became full of small white specks, bringing cold to them all. Link sighed warm carbon dioxide, melting five nearby snow crystals. A few landed on Skull Kid's head, and he shook it, Tael flying off.

"Well we should hurry up then," said Skull Kid, getting up. "Before we freeze."

Link got up slowly, and gripped his stomach. It gave a low grumble, and Link reluctantly ate a poki berry.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are many rituals and procedures that may make any sort of result. The rain dance, for instance, is supposed to summon rain. Voting is supposed to show the true winner of an election. And as well as these, the Great Fairy Examination is supposed to show what lowly fairies have the potential to become a Great Fairy.

This Examination takes up to three years. Afterwards, three more are spent teaching the new Great Fairy how to do what they need to do, and what to do if they are ever shattered into twenty pieces, three-fourths of which being lost in a dungeon, temple, or in the clutches of an evil bird that snatches anything in sight (named Takkuri).

When Link, Skull Kid, and the two fairies entered the Great Fairy of the Woods' Fairy Shrine, they wondered if she had really been taught anything in those three years. As soon as they stepped in, she was sitting there, her long blonde hair floating like all Great Fairies, trying to stay afloat. She was standing, bigger than all of them, jumping, seldom floating for a few seconds before falling back down.

"Umm…excuse me?" said Tatl, trying to ignore Skull Kid's laughter.

"Oh! Sorry!" she said, now finally looking at them. Her eyes stopped on Link. "Link?!"

"Hey, listen to me!" Tatl yelled.

"What? Oh. Umm…hello, Skull Kid. I'm sorry, but changing you back to your former state is impossible for me to do--"

"Shut up! We don't want you to do that!" Tael said.

"Well just for coming out to find me, I will grant you the power to-"

"Shut the hell up!" Skull Kid said, pulling Link in front of him. "Don't worry about me, help him!"

The Great Fairy stopped smiling. "Link, I never knew I'd see you again!"

"Yeah, yeah, just heal him already!" Tatl said, bouncing up and down with anxiety. "He's gone mute!"

"Well I wouldn't say that that's much different…" the Great Fairy mumbled.

"Cut the crap and heal him, dammit!" Skull Kid said. "What kind of fairy are you?"

The Great Fairy sighed. A gold column of light came down over Link, and they could see the difference already. He looked much healthier, and his hand wasn't on his stomach anymore.

"Finally," Link said, the word bringing him satisfaction to be able to utter. "Thanks. I don't mean to be selfish, but could you please upgrade my sword? It's a bit small…"

He pulled it out, and the Great Fairy looked at it. "What's this?" she asked, taking it from him. "I've never seen this before."

"So can you?"

"No. I haven't been trained to make swords, sorry. But putting that aside--" she threw the sword away, and it hit a pillar, going straight threw it and the hilt stopping it at the other end of the stone. "--Don't you remember me, Link?"

"…No…"

"How could you forget?"

"I've never seen you before."

Suddenly the Great Fairy stopped. She scratched her head, and was obviously in deep thought.

"No wonder!" she said at last. "Link, it's me, Navi!"
---------------------------------
Dark Link burped a long, satisfying burp. He pushed his plate forward, and Malon took it, putting it on a counter. It had been about two days since he had arrived, and he was getting used to food, and the need for it.

"Link, you still haven't told us what happened," said Zelda, not touching one bit of food.

"I don't really remember that much," said Dark Link, his mind thinking as fast as possible. "Just…I left…and then I was walking in the door here. I can't remember anything else."

"You forgot seven years of your life?" Malon asked. "How?"

"Don't know. I guess I must've ran into something…"

"Well there is the Mind Sweeper. I heard they could travel to different worlds. They take out your memory of any amount of time that they want."

Dark Link was glad that there was something that actually would cover up for his idiotic story. At least they believed him. As long as no one knew he was Dark Link, he just might stand a chance…at what? Dark Link suddenly realized something. He didn't need to be hiding his identity. Why was he? For the food? No, something else…as soon as he tried to phrase his predicament, he couldn't think of anything to say. But something beyond that was stopping him.

He looked at Zelda. It was her. Something inside of him didn't want her to know…but why? Lying wouldn't impress any-impress? What was this word? What did it mean? Since when did Dark Link know it? And why did he want to do the verb form of it? Strange…maybe he should look it up somewhere.

Just as he started to get up, he felt a presence behind him. He got his sword out, and started to swipe it as he turned, stopping when it was at the neck of the person standing there. It was one of those…bluish-white people. But this one was different. He could tell it was a woman, and it had some small decorations on its ears. Decorations? Another word added to the questioning list.

"Link!" the person said, rushing forward and hugging him. Dark Link slowly put his sword away, and tried to pry this creature off-pry? What the hell was going on with his vocabulary? He was learning new words every second! (If only Hooked on Phonics could harness that learning ability!) "I heard you'd be coming back soon--wait! You're…"

Oh great, Dark Link thought. Someone noticed. But how? He hadn't let anything stand out. Maybe this person was a very close friend? Maybe she would notice when others didn't.

"My god…" the creature said. "I didn't think Link's victory would result in this…"

"What are you talking about Ruto?" asked Malon, with a retreating look of anger. Angry at…Ruto, was it? Angry at Ruto? But why? Ruto had just appeared and hugged him; she didn't do anything that bad.

"Ruto, I was wondering when you'd get back," said Zelda, seemingly unaware of the strange thing Ruto had done. "I thought you'd be here immediately, seeing as Link's here."

"Link isn't here!" Ruto exclaimed, putting her arm on Dark Link's right shoulder and turning him to face Zelda. "This is Dark Link, you idiot!"

Zelda and Malon gasped at the same time.

"Zelda, you really ought to become immortal. It helps a lot. You can tell imposters from the real thing."

"Well, being mortal has its advantages too!" Zelda said, totally ignoring the fact that Dark Link was standing in front of them, and not the real Link. "Like…"

"Ganondorf was right!" Ruto said, pushing Dark Link aside, right into the wall. "You're just staying mortal so you can steal Link from me!"

"What? Is that what you think? I'm staying mortal because I like it, okay? I'll become immortal before I die. Got a problem with that?"

"Could I make a small comment here?" Dark Link said, rubbing his hurt arm. "I think Ruto--"

"Shut up!" Zelda and Ruto said together.

"Zelda, how come you won't accept the fact that Link is mine?"

"Yours?" laughed Malon. "As if! He likes me!"

Now it was Ruto's turn to laugh. "You? That's the most stupid thing I've heard all day!"

Dark Link sighed, and made his way towards the door. He took one last look at Zelda, and opened the door to leave.

"Oh no you don't!" Ruto said, pulling him back in. "I'm not going to let you out of my sight! Fierce Deity's after you, so I'm using you as bait, got it?"

"Fierce Deity?" gasped Zelda. "You-you wouldn't!"

"Sorry, I did. And I'm regretting it now."

"Who's Fierce D--?" Malon started.

"Long story," Ruto said. "Look Zelda, if you go anywhere near Link again, I will take Ganondorf's advice, and kill you!"

Dark Link felt very uncomfortable. Again! Another word he hadn't known before. What was going on? Both with his words and the people in front of him. He had never been this confused before. Then again, he'd only lived for a month so far. There were many things he still had to learn. Like who Fierce Deity was, and what he wanted with Dark Link. As if he had forced the god to come, a new presence filled the building.

"Did I hear someone call for me?" Fierce Deity said, appearing in front of them all. They converged on him. Fierce Deity punched Zelda, making her fly to the other side of the room. He kicked Malon while she was trying to attack him from behind with a plate (like that would've done anything).

Finally, he stood by Ruto and Dark Link. "Dark Link, you're coming with me." He grabbed Dark Link's collar, hoisted him in the air, and they disappeared.

Okay, that wasn't as hard as I thought. It seems I've got to stop getting good at this, or I might forget about the other story I'm writing, lol. This was just supposed to be a side project to boost my descriptive skills...but now I've got way too much going for it...plus I acutally have people replying...

Chapter 5

"Navi?" said Link, unable to believe that the fairy that had followed him for about a week or so was now a Great Fairy. "How'd you-?"

"I took the Great Fairy Exams!"

"I tried those once," commented Tatl. "How could you actually stand that thing?"

"It wasn't that hard," said Navi. "I think you must've taken it the previous time. They changed it now."

"Oh sure, they make it easy once I leave…"

"I can't believe it," said Link, laughing at himself. "I've been searching for you for seven years, and you were just taking some exam?"

"I would've come back, but I have to stay here now."

"Wait, I thought Great Fairies were born that way," Skull Kid said, a bit more perplexed than any of them had been.

"No, we all start out as a little ball of light. It's just when the other Great Fairies appoint you, they take away the light."

"What do you mean 'take away the light'? They do a lot more than that," said Link, looking at Navi's completely new appearance.

"Well they make us bigger…that's it."

"Wait, are you telling me that…Tatl and Tael look just like you without the light?" said Skull Kid, even more confused now.

"Yeah."

"Oh my god."

Link sighed. It really wasn't that surprising, now that he thought about it. Why else would they look like that when they were Great Fairies?

"Well I guess my journey's over, huh?" he said. "Navi, do you know anything about why I can't go back to Hyrule?"

"Well it seems like there's a barrier now…but I don't really know why. I heard something about some strange tournament or something going on somewhere, and I guess they need privacy."
----------------------------------------------
The Trivulian Tournament is a strange thing indeed. It needs three things in order for someone to participate in it. First, you have to be on a three-person team. This can consist of anyone, no matter who they are or what they've done in their past. A criminal could go there and never be arrested.

Second, you have to register, obviously. It requires you to extract blood from your hand and combine it with that of your companions on each person's thumb, and then stamped on the registration paper.

Third, you need to take a survey on what you want if you win the tournament. The main reason for this is that the prize is to have one wish granted. The people judging the competition may not care who enters, but they do care about what happens as a result.

Sometimes, the tournament has been canceled because of too few participants. But ever since Ganondorf played in it when he was Link's age, people have been coming back, hoping to fight him.

Also, it has sometimes been canceled because some participants died before being able to fight in their battles. The tournament lasts a year, so there are breaks between battles. This lets the participants heal, think up new strategies, and be able to continue their lives. Because of this, people are now protected from death while outside of battle.

Fierce Deity Link had participated in the tournament twice in his life. The first time, he had forfeited a match against Ganondorf. The second time he got transformed into a mask before his third match started, and was unable to make it back to the stadium. Now he was trying again.

Fierce Deity put Dark Link down, and looked around them. There wasn't a single thing in sight. Only trees, grass, and one huge clearing to their left. "Seems we're early. Good…we've got a few more hours before people start coming. In the meantime…"

Fierce Deity checked his pockets, and pulled out a book. The cover was red, and the pages were a strange gray color. There were no words on the outside.

He flipped to the middle of the book, and a pencil appeared in the space between the pages. He picked it up, and started writing on the left page.

"Okay…tell me everything that's happened to you so far."

"What?" said Dark Link, not understanding why this was so important. "Why?"

"So I can answer any questions you might have. Pretty soon, someone's going to give you a survey, asking that if you had one wish, what would it be? Of course, you're new to the whole idea of being outside of that temple. New to all the emotions and pains; basically new to living like a normal person. If you don't know some stuff, you might make a stupid wish like figuring out what a certain emotion is."

"Oh…okay," said Dark Link, unable to comprehend the situation, while understanding the basic principle of Fierce Deity's plight. There he went again with those complicated words…

Dark Link told him everything, from walking over the empty lake with Ganondorf towards the Water Temple, to his thoughts of suicide that he knew he couldn't fulfill, to his departure from the temple, all the way 'til the time when he met Zelda, and when Fierce Deity found him. Relative to how long his life was, this was a longer story than Fierce Deity had expected.

"Okay…first off…depression…very severe boredom…hunger, and…you have a crush on Princess Zelda. I guess I got it all. And about those words, that's probably just built-in knowledge that Ganondorf gave you, but accidentally blocked them out while you were in the temple. Now that you left, the powers of the temple left you, giving you that knowledge, and the look of your opposite, Link."

"I guess that makes sense…what'd you say about Zelda?"

"You have a crush on her," he said. Realizing that this word was not yet in his vocabulary, he explained. "It means…you like her. That's why you were blushing."

"Blushing?"

Fierce Deity sighed. He put the book away, and pulled out a new one. "Here, read this."

Dark Link took it and opened it to the first page, full with words and their meanings. "Okay…"

"I trust you can read Hylian, correct?"

"Yeah…" Dark Link was already immersed in the book, reading every word he could see, and looking for its meaning, frequently holding the page and going to a farther page to look up the meaning to a meaning, and sometimes even a meaning of that.

Fierce Deity slowly stepped away, and disappeared.
-------------------------------------
Link walked out of the Great Fairy Fountain disappointed. Navi couldn’t come with him. And now he couldn't even go back to Hyrule because of some stupid game. He would be stuck in the Lost Woods forever.

"Look on the bright side!" said Tael, as they walked out into the snowy forest. "At least your search is over. Now you can relax!"

"Not really," Link sighed, his boots making a wet squishing sound against the now deep snow. It had been one whole day. Now it was November 15, and all hopes were gone. "I can't go back to Hyrule, I won't be able to get my fairy back, and--" Link stopped, and quickly took out his ocarina.

"And what?" asked Skull Kid, the only one who didn't notice Link's sudden action.

"I just thought of something," Link said, scratching his head. "It was about seven years ago, but maybe I can remember…"

"Remember what?"

"The Minuet of Forest, I think," Link replied. "Or maybe I could try…no, I don't have my goron tunic anymore…"

"What are some stupid songs gonna do?" Skull Kid said, Tael having the same question.

"You mean you have teleportation songs for Hyrule too?" asked Tatl, the only one who knew about the Song of Soaring besides Link.

"Yeah…but I can't remember them that well…actually, I remember one of them, but the place it takes me to is too dangerous without my goron tunic."

"Well do you remember any other ones?"

"Uhh…only about two notes." Link played the beginning of the Prelude of Light. "Wait…I got it!"

Just as Link put the ocarina back on his lips, a strong hand tugged it away from him. Everyone looked to Link's right. Standing there was Fierce Deity Link, holding the ocarina.

"Link, nice to see you!" he said in his strange deep voice.

Everyone jumped. "Y-you're--!" Tatl shouted.

"Fierce Deity. I remember you too, Tatl."

"Who is this guy?" asked Skull Kid. His feathers stood up, almost as if they were his hair. He put his left hand on his right hand glove, and as he took the hand away, a shield of purple light appeared over his glove.

"Are you deaf?" said Fierce Deity. "Now Link, I need you to come with me."

Link felt for his sword, but suddenly realized that Navi had thrown it away. He had no defense now when Fierce Deity picked him up by the collar. Skull Kid plucked one of the feathers, and it turned into a small red sword. He lunged forward, but missed, as Fierce Deity and Link disappeared.
-------------------------------------
Dark Link finally looked up form the dictionary to see Fierce Deity putting Link down. He couldn't believe it. Link actually did look just like him! Dark Link got up and walked over to them.

"Okay everyone," Fierce Deity said, "get acquainted. We're all going to be close friends from now on. Who'd like to start the introductions?"

"Why'd you bring me here?" Link said angrily, ready to fight with his bare fists.

"I need a team of three to participate, idiot," Fierce Deity replied. "Now look, we've got all the Links here together! Wouldn't you say that that's the best team anyone could hope for?"

"I'm Dark Link," Dark Link said, putting his hand out for Link to shake. He had learned this from Ganondorf long ago, in October. Link looked at Dark Link, and turned back to Fierce Deity.

"What's in it for me if I play along?"

"Easy. You get one wish granted. I suppose I can guess what that will be already."

"...Okay, I'll do it," said Link. Fierce Deity laughed, and turned everyone's gaze towards a huge stadium, which was in the exact same place that there had been a clearing before.

"Well let's get going. Time doesn't wait for slowpokes…and neither do the judges…"
----------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------

Okay, now I can take yet another break...phew! The next chapter should come out next week. I'm starting to get into a sort of Saturday pattern with this, so don't expect too much throught the weekdays.

Re: (ZGen)Legend of Link: The Fatal Game[T]

Okay, even though I said it was going to be on Saturdays, it may also be on Sundays too. Just not during the week anymore, unless we have off of school.
Anyway, here's the next chapter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 6

In all of Termina's long history, there has never been a huge population of wizards, or those who can use magic. Simply put, there only existed ten, over a period of sixty years. As they were the only ones of their kind, they created a sort of alliance to keep from wizards using magic for evil.

Though thanks to Ikana, there were many wars. And about half of the wizards happened to be born in that region, so they helped fight. As a result, the landscape took a mighty blow, and became the canyon it is today, instead of the flat plains of long ago.

The other members helped anyone they could, involving themselves in more wars. But only one of them actually had the knowledge of an evil mask, which had become a living being, hoping to destroy the world. He knew that if they tried to destroy this mask together, there was no way they'd lose.

But a time of great war had broken out, and wizards were in high demand by all sides. They couldn't pass up this opportunity. So he was left alone to fight this creature, named Majora. In the end, he lost, and became a mask. Majora played with him for a while, making him mad, and then was found by the Happy Mask Salesman, who then had it stolen from him, and you know the rest.

The lone wizard's transformation left the others with great sorrow, and they were mad at themselves for letting him down, seeing as he had been their leader. And so they left the land, vowing to be as brave as Fierce Deity, driving out the evil in every world.

But soon after, the wizards became evil themselves, except four very strong-minded ones. They battled in a place between Hyrule and Termina, in the Lost Woods, and their fight created a huge clearing in the forest. The four good wizards won, but in the end, two of them could no longer leave their present location. So to pass time, they tested their strength against each other.

Long story short, leaving out many details (the wizards eventually found a way out), this became the grounds for the Trivulian Tournament. The younger of the two trapped wizards is now the leader of all the judging done, and is the one who will grant a wish to the winners. Before that, the prize was cash, which led to a lower amount of participants. The old leader and the judges were long dead, so this wizard took his place, and had him bring three new judges.

Fierce Deity knew that the leader would probably let Fierce Deity and the others to register first, being a slave to favoritism. But still, he pushed the other two Links along to the end of a long line of people outside of the stadium.

The line itself wasn't very long, considering that each trio would be registering together, meaning they'd have to wait a third of the time it would take with a one-on-one tournament. But what surprised Fierce Deity was that none of the groups looked very…fierce. No one with muscles showing all over, no one with loads of weapons that just happened to start overflowing their pockets. It was much different from the last two times he had entered.

Dark Link stepped ahead of the rest of them and Link gasped.

"That's my sword!" he said, grabbing the Master Sword off of Dark Link's back. "How the hell did you get this?"

"What? Oh that? I don't know, I just…had it."

"Well it's mine!"

Fierce Deity sighed. He snatched the sword out of Link's hand, and broke it in half.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" Link shouted at him.

Fierce Deity ignored the question and took out his double helix sword. He held the hilt with both hands, and pulled it apart. Automatically, the blue and silver sides of the blade came apart, forming two different swords. He handed one to Dark Link, and the other to Link.

"Everybody happy now?"

"Why did you break the sword?" Link was still shouting in anger.

"Look, that thing wasn't the Master Sword," Fierce Deity said, pointing to the pile of broken metal on the ground. "That was the Dark Master Sword. It cannot be used without a Dark holder. And since Dark Link is no longer Dark, he can't use it as much as you could."

"'No longer Dark?' But Ruto even said--"

"What does she know about emotions? She's only experienced about three of them. You, Dark Link, have experienced love, which is not something a Dark creature can feel."

"Love?" said Link, not seeing how Dark Link could've experienced this complicated emotion so soon in his life, though he had no idea just how short it had been.

"Well, not exactly true love, or even received affection, but…he's got a crush on Zelda."

Link stared blankly at him. "How the hell does that qualify him as a Light Creature?"
