I have been playing an online game called Runescape for about a year-and-a-half now, and in that time I have composed a few short stories based on the game. Here I have clumped them all together. I suggest you read this even if you have not played Runescape before, you will probably still enjoy my stories. Here is the first one...
The Legend of Null Null was a great warrior from the desert lands who often chose to duel-wield a sickle and a huge mace. Null was a very religious man who worshipped Saradomin, so naturally he was the Leader in the great war of the third age. As the Zamorakians were steadily losing in the war, Zamorak decided to turn the tide and captured the fair maiden of Varrock, Lady Ardougne, and imprisoned her in the dreaded Dark Knights Fortress. So Null took Varrock's vast army of archers, magicians, and knights to help rescue the fair Ardougne and bring her back to the city. The army set off into the greatly feared wilderness on the last day of the tenth month of the year. They finally arrived to their destination and decided to set up camp east of Zamorak's Bandit Camp. Null sent a small force into the Fortress but they returned a short while later out of breath. The group reported that they had been spotted some distance off and monks and magicians started to rain magic down upon them. Finding their enemy quite vulnerable Zamorak ordered all the black knights and bandits to follow the spies to their camps. He left only the few Monks to guard the fortress, knowing that he would easily smash his opponent with sheer numbers. A few hours later Zamorak saw that his overconfidence proved fatal as his army started to fall back. So the crafty warlord sent his faithful imps down to help. When Null saw the small imps start to appear and then run off, he decided to follow them. They led him a fair piece away from the battle to a bare patch of ground that had recently gone through a huge fire. There, Null found the treacherous Kalphite Queen waiting for him, carefully guarding the unconscious Lady Ardougne. Being the great warior that he is, Null managed to beat the monster's first form, with a little protection from Saradomin, but when it flew off the ground and started it's aerial attack he pretty much gave up hope. But, Null took out the spare bow and arrows that he carried and started to attack the fearsome beast anyways. Meanwhile, the Varrockians had won the battle and came looking for their lost Desert Hero. After a short while they found him lying beside the Kalphite Queen, mortally wounded, as she was about to make the final blow on his life. In a split second every archer, magician, and knight took out their weapons and aimed directly at the Kalphite Queen. Arrows, daggers, swords, war hammers, and flashes of light fell to the ground as a great pall of smoke appeared. When the smog cleared the army found that all the imps had vanished, taking the Kalphite Queen and the Lady Ardougne with them. The whole army heard a deep voice bellow, "How dare you tamper with the Dark Lords Plans! As punishment the Kalphite Queen shall forever haunt your people, Null! Fear Zamorak, Mightiest of all Gods!" All the great warriors mourned for the loss of Ardougne, but finally decided to take off for home. The few healers that were there bandaged up Null as best they could and put together a makeshift stretcher to carry Null south, away from the dreadful wilderness. But the jostling from the journey re-opened Null's battle wounds and he died before the journey's end. The whole army erected a monument to their dead warrior hero. The slow and dull-witted sometimes say that they can sometimes can here Null encouraging them, though he is so weak that he can only repeat what one says in a jumbled mess. The imps couldn’t decide what to do with the Lady Ardougne so they simply teleported her to a far off land, beyond a range of snowy white mountains. With the help of a few barbarous people she managed to recover and eventually settled a city which they named after their beautiful ruler, Ardougne. The good grace of Saradomin looked down upon the city and decided to send some of his most faithful servants, the Holy Order of the Paladins, to help out with the every day needs of the city. After many long years Ardougne finally sent a messenger to find the city of Varrock. The messenger reached his destination less than a year later, and told the whole city of Ardougne's great success. Her parents were overjoyed to hear of her safety, for they had long ago given up hope of her return. A few brave volunteers decided to return to Ardougne with the messengers. The city of Falador, too, wanted to help out the new city, so they sent a regiment of White Knights to help keep order in the town. And so ends the tale of two of Runescape's most beloved people, who changed the History of Runescape, forever. One of my weaker stories, but I thought I'd post it anyways. Tell me what you think, and if I get enough input I'll post my others, too.
