Sprites or Faeries?

okay, I am at a difficult part in my soon-to-be-published novel called Dragon Charmer. Anyway there are five outlaws (an elf, a brother, a sister, a mother, and a parrot-lizard thing called a Dracling) and they are retreating to the woods because these demons are chasing them. The demons cant go in the forest because it has a barrier.
Anyway, these creatures appear to bring aid to the party. What kind of creatured should they be? Anyways sprites, faeries, or a new race?

I'm not exactly allowing threads like these, especially for such a minor part of a story.
