The Legend Of Link: Trial Of Passage (G)
This is an idea I had a few months ago. It a series of stories that combines everything I can from every zelda game I have played (which isn't many)
. All comments and constructive critism welcome.Trail of passage Chapter 1 Link sat up in his bed and yawned. The sun shone brightly through the window, lighting the small room. The wooden walls were adorned with various pictures and artefacts supposed to belong to one person. The legendary hero of time. One picture showed him how it was thought he looked just before the time he disappeared. He was not much older than Link himself, and was dressed in a green tunic with white tights. Brown boots covered his feet, protecting them from thorns and other nasty things on the ground. The young man’s face looked old, worn and scared. Many were just little scratched from near misses, but he had one that seemed to split his face in two. It ran from his hair line right down to his chin. It was said he got that from the man of great evil, who was never spoken about anymore. His icy blue eyes seemed to stare through everything, instead of at something. The small pointed nose added to this effect. There was no smile on his lips. It was almost like he had forgotten how to smile along time before. His hands were covered in a pair of gold laced gauntlets, that gave the hero the strength of a full grown goron. His tunic was more patches and repairs than actual tunic, because he had worn little else for years. On his back was a mirror like shield that could repel magic back at its user, or absorb the power to use later. Over his right shoulder floated a small orb of light, known as a fairy. This fairy was his helper and taught many things over his travels. Over his left shoulder was the hilt of a sword. But not just any sword. That sword was the one that joined him in legend. A sword so powerful that a single scratch could eliminate any traces of evil from a person, and cleave the darkness in two. “The sword of masters.” Link whispered. “The only weapon of the Hero of Time.” He jumped out of bed and pulled on his own green tunic. The young man had built his life around what he thought that legendary hero was like. Everything he had was related to him in some way. From his replica sword, right down to his brown leather boots, which he hastily pulled onto his feet. He took one last look at the picture of the hero on his wall. His true memory lost to the ravages of time. He really was nothing more than a legend now. But it was a legend Link truly believed in. Then he walked outside his door, onto a wooden platform above the forest floor. He climbed down the ladder and turned to look at his house. It was carved out of the trunk of an old tree that had died years ago. It was the one place Link had ever felt at peace. “Hey Link!” A bright happy voice he recognised called “Dad was looking for you!” The young man turned around and looked at the new arrival. Layla, the town mayors daughter, was such a beautiful sight to behold for any man. Her sapphire blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight. She had a small stubby nose, just like her father, and a set of full red lips. She wore a plain and simple dress that went down to her ankles. She had always believed she was no better than anyone else, even if she was the mayors daughter. Her skin was soft and smooth, giving her and ageless appearance. Link had become quite attached to her over the many years they had known each other. But not once had he told her anything to do with what he was feeling. He thought it would only ruin their friendship. “Where is he then?” Link asked her “In the great clearing I think.” With a slight smile Link turned and walked towards the great clearing at the centre of the town. |

Re: The Legend Of Link: Trial Of Passage (G)
Duly noted. Previous post edited for easier reading.
For anyone who wants to keep track of this easily I am planning to post a new section weekly, usually on a Monday or Tuesday. If I do miss a post, please dont complain because I have obviously had a lot on that week and will post as soon as possible. Any way, here is the next peice of the story: The mayor of Ordon, who was a good two inches shorter than Link, was stood under an ancient tree in the clearing when Link arrived. The older man turned to face him, a smile on his old worn face. A scar ran down it, almost cutting into the mans neck. It was an injury that occurred years before Link could remember anything, and left the mayors voice sounding very harsh, even though he was the kindest person he knew. “Ah Link,” He said, the kindness still present in his voice “what can I do for you?” “You wanted to see me?” “Oh yes. Of course.” The town mayor paused for a second “Tomorrow you leave for your trial.” He sighed, almost frowning “It only seems like yesterday that I gave you your first set of green clothes to wear. Your parents stood only over there,” he pointed to an old tree “faces beaming with pride.” The mans chest shook as he spoke. Links parents had been good friends of the town mayor, and had died a few years ago of an unknown illness. Their deaths still affected both him and Link severely. Link placed a gentle hand on the other mans shoulder. “I miss them too.” he said simply. The mayor looked up at Link, tears filling his two small eyes. The mayor had no hair, having chosen to shave it off years ago, a short stubby nose, and a small mouth. He wore tusks either side of his mouth and they rose and fell every time he smiled or frowned. He wore a plain and simple white shirt over his large belly and a pair of brown trousers covered his legs. He never wore anything fancy, even though he was the town mayor. This was because he was always doing something for someone else, and it didn’t matter if those clothes got dirty. Link often wondered when he got the time to do the things he needed to as mayor, because he was always busy. The mayor was about to speak again when another man came running up, gasping for breath. A panicked look was on his young face and Link recognised him immediately. It was Fado, the goat ranch owner. Link often helped him out with herding the goats into the barn at the end of the day. Fados chest rose and fell rapidly as he tried to tell them his urgent news. His face slowly turning red. “Calm down Fado.” The mayors voice had the required effect as the young mans face slowly turned back to normal. “Now, tell me what has happened.” “The sacred stone has been stolen!” Link and the mayor both ran after him, straight to the sacred grove, where the sacred stone of the forest was kept on its alter. The stone was very special to the people of Ordon. Said to have been given to their ancestors by the Hero of Time himself shortly before he disappeared. It was the soul of the forest and all the creatures that inhabited it. Removal of the stone from its rightful place would ultimately result in the death of everything in the forest, and the forest itself. When they arrived the town elders were already there, tending to those who were guarding the stone. Three of the four guardians were dead, with the last remaining one struggling for breath. Link crouched down next to him. “What happened?” he asked. “There were too many of them.” The mans voice was barely more than a hoarse whisper “People clothed in shadow. They demanded we hand over the stone, and when we refused they struck us all down. We have failed in our duty to protect the stone.” Then he breathed his last and fell silent. Link gently rested the guardians head on the ground. “May the grace of the goddess Farore lead you home.” He whispered quietly. That was the way they said goodbye to the departed, as they believed that they would all go to live with the respective goddess when they died. He slowly got to his feet and turned to face the other people who were talking in hushed tones. “We have to go after them.” He said, his hands making fists, which began to quiver. The stone had probably been taken by people who wanted to sell it to make a lot of money. People like that made Link so angry that he wasn’t sure how he would behave when he found them. “It will take three days to gather the resources together for someone to leave.” An elder said, “And even then we need to find someone willing to go.” With that he turned back to the mayor and the discussion began again. This time it was about who would be likely to agree to go after these men. Link stood and looked at the alter. It looked strange without the green sacred stone. Finally he spoke up. “I’ll go.” he said. The mayor and elders turned to face him. Looks of surprise on their faces. “Link,” the mayor said “do you know what this entails.” Link looked up and nodded. “I know the dangers. But it is my trial tomorrow. That will cut the time down by two days. Giving me more of a chance to catch them early.” “But trials are specific. There is nothing I can do to change that.” “However,” an elder spoke, he looked older than the others, and Link hadn’t seen him before. “In the past when it has been required young men like Link have been sent on quests for the better of the town.” The mayor sighed. Link could see he was battling with himself about whether to let Link go or not. “Okay.” he said at last a big sigh escaping his lips “your trial will be to recover the stone and return it to the sacred alter in the forest.” and he began a long slow walk back towards the town. Soon Link was left alone with the alter. It had been built from stones and braches found on the forest floor. A new alter was built every year, and in the same place. In front of an ancient tree that looked like it had a face on it. This tree was said to have died many thousands of years ago, but Link knew it still had a spark of life left. This tree was the guardian of the whole forest and those who lived in it. It was known as the Great Deku Tree many years ago. But now it had no name. It had been forgotten long before any of its current inhabitants were born. “Please protect the town and its people while I am gone.” Link whispered to the ancient tree and walked back towards his house, ready to prepare for the following morning. A pair of red eyes watched Link as he walked, and a smile spread across the mans dark face. Link was completely unaware that he was being watched, and of the hatred trying to burn him to a crisp before he could move another muscle. The plan had been a success. The stone was captured. Now to take it back to his master. The dark man then seemed to melt away into the darkness and disappeared. |

Re: The Legend Of Link: Trial Of Passage (G)
You wish....
Anyway part 3 is here: A man stood and looked out of the window. The window that led into the kingdom beyond which he ruled. Darkness swirled around him as he watched the bleak landscape. The land had been covered in an eternal twilight for many years. Ever since he had taken over the kingdom of Hyrule. The grounds of the castle was now devoid of life, no plant or living creature having been seen for the last four thousand years. The walls around the grounds were crumbling into nothingness. The twilight attacking anything that was not connected to it in some way. Including the people who dared to venture too close to the castle walls. Dark creatures, changed by the twilight, flitted from one section of the wall to another, forever bound to stay inside the castle walls until the darkness could be dispelled. Beyond the crumbling walls lay the town of hyrule, more commonly known as Castle Market. The man watched as the people went about their business, unaware of the malevolent force that was watching them from a window in the castle. The pain and the anguish that he felt, and the jealousy. With the anger boiling away inside him he turned his attention from the people to the sun. The glow it cast across the castle and its grounds was an eerie kind of orange. The heat from its usually bright glow never reached the mans dark tanned face. His yellow eyes glared fiercely at it. Never having to shield his eyes from the suns bright glare. His small round nose flared in anger. Why would the suns heat never reach him! Why did he never feel its warm glow, or ever have to shield his eyes from its glare! Why should others feel it, yet he could not? This cursed twilight that now followed him everywhere. He could no longer remember a time when he didn’t have it over his shoulder. A constant reminder of what had been done thousands of years ago. The darkness began to shift and change around him, responding to its masters pain, slowly becoming a ball of magical energy in his hand. With a roar he lashed out, the magic shattering a stone stand with and iron pot sat on it. It clattered loudly on the old stone floor and bounced its way towards the door. The man smiled, pleased with the noise, and stone fragments that now littered the floor. The pot finally came to a stop at a pair of black boots. The evil mans gaze swept upwards, taking in the muscled legs, and the black tunic. His arms were straight down by his sides, his hands making small fists next to his hips. The new arrivals face had a small mouth, a short and pointed nose, and a set of red piercing eyes. Those eyes always seemed to stare through everything and everyone. The mans skin was almost pure black, a trace of the normal skin colour left. A black shield was strapped to his back, and the black hilt of a sword protruded from his left shoulder. His hair swayed gently in a breeze that always blew through the castle these days, and most of his jet black hair was hidden under a black hat. “What do you want?” He snarled, spit falling to the stone floor, while the black clothed man stared back, unflinching, with those red piercing eyes. “Our men have captured the stone.” He said, his mouth almost twisting into a smile “It has begun, and will not be long.” The yellow eyed man turned to face an alter with a smile on his dark face. It had three indents in the top, with an inscription on the front. The inscription was simple and read ‘Ye who holds three spiritual stones, place them in the alter, and play the song of time.’ It had been two thousand years since he had the temple of time torn down and the alter brought to his castle. The hollows were empty, awaiting the stones that would fill them. The first of which was now headed towards him and the alter. “No,” the wicked man said, his smile growing bigger “It will not be long now.”
