(Rom, part NF, part Act) School [M]

Intro

The boy took a puff of his cigarette and flicked it of his hand. He entered the school. It was his first day in the new middle school. His full name was Eddie Vender. It was his first day of his new school in Seattle, Washington. The boy had moved from San Diego to Seattle after having a troubled life with his father. At the age of fourteen, he had already been to prison for serious infractions. He is now living with his uncle.

The kid was seriously depressed; he had attempted suicide many times in his last couple of years. He was a hard core drug addict, especially heroin. He hated school; the only classes he enjoyed were his art and music classes. His 8th grade year hade not started out so well, being caught doing drugs and having sex with the girls in the school. But, this was the past.

It is December 19th 2002; Seattle is experiencing some snow and rain. The celebrities die younger while the punks are living it up. Eddie Vender’s favorite singer, Layne Staley, had died of a drug overdose months ago, making him go into serious depression. Eddie Vender was a bass guitar player, his favorite brand being Fender Guitars. He had an admiration for Sid Vicious. He was really good.

He entered the school, Romus to be exact. He walked through the halls, glaring at people who said “Theirs the new kid”. He approached his first class, art. He entered, gazing at the teacher. The teacher walked up to Eddie.

“So you’re Eddie, the new student welcome. You will be sitting there; you are a little early, so relax. My name is Mr. Matthews.” The teacher said.

“There” was the left side of the room, a rectangular table with four seats. The class now had sixteen students; the desks were arranged in a square. The room was plain; it was made of oak wood with some art hanging around it. Your standard art class. Eddie threw his binder and sat down on the edge of the table. This was gonna be a long day.

I'll explain the school later. I suck at beginings:XD Please comment.

Re: (Rom, part NF, part Act) School [M]

Chapter I

Chapter I

The school was huge. It was divided into five buildings, there was an art building, music building, science lab, core classes structure and the lunch/gym building. The buildings were placed like a compass, art in the north, music in the south, core classes in thee west, science buildings in the east, and lunch/gym in the center. The school was new; it was built in the year 2000, with students enrolling from 7th and 8th grade. The school was built of granite and metal with some other materials.

Minutes later, two girls walked in and took a seat by Eddie, one to the left, and one to the left of her. The one on his left was a tall skinny white blond girl, her eyes a deep crystal blue. Eddie didn’t fall for it. The other was a fairly fine looking average sized white brunette. Eddie bit his lip, but let it go with ease.
“Oh… hi. My name is Elena; you’re the new kid right?” the girl by Eddie asked.
“Yeah, the name is Eddie… Eddie Vender.” Eddie slowly replied.

The other girl just stared at Eddie, gazing if you will. Elena looked slowly at Eddie, she quickly grabbed his hand. Because of her lack of awareness, her long sharp nails embedded into Eddie’s skin, cutting him up. Elena quickly drew her hand back.

“Oh my god, I am so sorry!” she said, gasping. Eddie just stared, knowing that he had never hit a girl in his life and wasn’t planning on.

The blood dripped down his white skin. He wiped it of with his blue hoodie. Now Eddie’s image, imagine a young Layne Staley, but his brown hair had more of 1991 Kurt Cobain look to it. He wiped the rest of his blood of his blue torn up jeans.

Over a span of about five minutes, students were rushing in. None of them seemed to care or even notice Eddie, he was like a plain sheet of paper, it’s there, but you don’t notice or care. Everyone took a seat, ignoring Eddie. Eddie wished he had some heroin, hell; even a cigarette would calm his nerves. It was Thursday, this day and tomorrow and he would be out if school for two weeks. The bell rung at 8:15.

“Alright students, today and tomorrow will be a free draw day. You can draw anything you want. Oh, and Eddie, for you this is a grade, so don’t slack off, ok?” Mr. Matthews told the class before sitting down on his rolly chair. He had an “Einstein” desk.

Eddie took out a blank sheet of paper from his binder and started free drawing. His breath was calm, although drugs would have calmed him down more. He threw his three ringed binder on the floor and kept on drawing. Eddie just focused on the drawing; he was an excellent artist, musical and visual.

After about twenty minutes, Elena strangely turned around and looked at Eddie. Her crystal blue eyes gazed into Eddie’s heartless green eyes. After a couple more minutes, she asked him, “So, were are ya from?” Eddie didn’t reply until a couple of seconds; saying “San Diego.”

“Wow, that is cool I’m from Boston and…”

Eddie just tuned that out if his head. Women, all they do is talk about constant bull**** and spend money on stuff that they are never gonna use. Eddie’s mom died when he was four from a stroke caused by a speed ball. Eddie had thought this way about women cause is dad kept on saying **** like that when he came home drunk and beat Eddie to a bloody ending.

Eddie had taken drugs since the age of eight. He first had experienced the drug LSD, which he later dumped. At the age of ten, he started smoking by stealing from the stores. His dad didn’t care cause he was an alcoholic and a cocaine addict. At twelve, Eddie developed a serious heroin addiction that no one knew about. He acquired the heroin through friends by performing illegal activities. It isn’t that hard to get heroin in Seattle, it is probably the easiest place to get it in the United States.

Eddie also loved to have sex. He first had sex only a year ago with a girl from school, and then started having sex for the hell of it. Eddie is healthy despite his drug addiction. He had never really liked girls; sex was something he was pressured to do, for money or for his own pleasure.

“So, what are ya drawing?” Elena asked.
“Kurt Cobain” Eddie replied bluntly.

Elena looked over to see it. It was very realistic. Black and white with gray, but realistic. Eddie never liked to color, he always drew in pencil, only using black pen to trace and add a look to the drawing.

“Everyone, look at what Eddie is drawing!” Elena screamed out.

Everyone came rushing; the comments were something like “Man that is awesome” and stuff like that. Eddie hated attention and praise, that’s why he played bass guitar; he likes to be the guy that just does stuff and not get all the praise. He always liked to draw people, whether it was Kurt Cobain or Eddie Vedder, he didn’t care.

Mr. Matthews approached Eddie as he was finishing the drawing. He took a look at it. He was impressed. Never in his twenty-four years of teaching in over ten states had he ever seen a student draw like that.

“Impressive” Mr. Matthews started.
“Now, if you add some color, that would be great” he finished.

Eddie had fire in his eyes. His first reaction would have been to say “**** you”, but something stopped him. He just plainly said “No”.

“That would…” Mr. Matthews started, but was cut of by Eddie.
“That would mean ****. Coloring this would kill the artistic beauty, not to mention you” Eddie replied, giving of a laugh afterwards. The students gave of a gasp, especially the girls.

Mr. Matthews picked up the picture and went to his desk. He studied the drawing. He then took out a clipboard with paper and marked something down. Probably a grade. Elena patted Eddie on the back and said, “You are so in trouble.” Eddie just shrugged his shoulders.

“You got a hundred Eddie. I like your attitude, you’ve got guts. You’ll get far here kid” Mr. Matthews said with something short of a smile.

“You’re lucky, you know that?” the girl that sat by Elena said.
“Yeah, Sadie is right, you are lucky that ya didn’t get in trouble” Elena said to Eddie.
“I guess it was cause of my drawing” Eddie replied giving of a laugh. Everyone went back to doing what they were doing.

There was still fifteen minutes of class, and Eddie didn’t want to draw because of all the drama that had just gone on. He decided to kick back and relax. Elena looked at Eddie, this time, Eddie gave an answer. “What? You wanna go out or something? Cause I’m gonna say no.”

Elena blushed, her cheeks were fire red.

“No, what are you talking about?” she managed to reply. Sadie gave of a quiet laugh.
“What’s so funny?” Elena remarked, getting angry.

“Well, what Eddie just said is true; it does seem that you are taking an interest in him” Sadie replied. Eddie just laughed. Elena slapped him across the face; Mr. Matthews didn’t see it, as he was out of the room.

“Damn, cut your nails, they hurt” Eddie told Elena.

Elena just had realized what she did. Eddie couldn’t care less, as his father had beat him much worse. Eddie didn’t seem to care, it was actually funny to him; it always seemed that girls liked him, even with his record.

“Oh my god, I am so sorry! I didn’t know what I was doing, I’m sorry I’m sorry!” Elena exclaimed. Eddie shrugged his shoulders.

It was ten minutes till class would be over, and Eddie was glad. The beginning of the day had gone quite strange. He kicked back and took a deep breath. He couldn’t wait till he got his first shot of heroin, it would, “Ease him out” and relax him. But he still had school. He closed his eyes. Elena kissed his cheek; no one seemed to notice, much less Eddie.

The bell rang. Eddie grabbed his binder and rushed out. He headed towards the core classes building. His next class was English, his least favorite class. He didn’t care about reading or writing, he always managed to pass with a sixty-nine as his final grade. Eddie thought that English was a bunch of crap.

He entered the building. He took a right and went down to the end of the hallway and took a left to go up the stairs. He then headed straight till he reached his class. He entered.

“You must be the new student Eddie, I’m Mrs. Rachel. You’ll site in the front. Take a seat in the middle.”

Eddie walked to his seat and sat down. He laid the binder on the table and stared at the board, he was early.

The classroom had a dull look to it. Five tables, each in a separate row, all facing the front of the room. There was the chalkboard, and the teacher’s desk. That was about it. Within minutes, students started walking in. They made simple remarks like “hi”. Eddie just nodded. He kicked back and quietly told himself, “Ha, she kissed me, that was damn funny. She wants to go out or some **** like that. Well, the answer is gonna be no.”

Eddie would be happy when this class ended; he might play a prank on the teacher and the students for fun so that he wouldn’t have to sit through this crap. Everyone was in the class; but just as the bell rang, a girl walked in…

Chapter II

Chapter II

“Sorry that I’m a little late” the girl said, taking a seat by Eddie. Eddie stared in aw. In his mind she was simply beautiful. She had golden brown hair, was fairly tall, but not to tall. Her voice was like an angel. She wore a purple sweater and jeans, with fairly expensive high heels. Eddie looked into her emerald green eyes, she was astounding. Eddie was nervous; he’d kill to get shot up on heroin. He was nervous; he really wanted to get to know her.

“You’re the new kid, what’s your name?” the girl asked laying her backpack down.
“…Eddie Vender, what’s yours?” Eddie asked shaking.
“My name is Sydney, nice to meet you” she replied.

Eddie was too nervous to say anything. In his mind he thought, “Maybe I can talk to her at lunch or after class.” He swallowed hard, not knowing what to do. The bell rang. “Oh ****, the class has started” was what Eddie had in his head. The class had started. The assignment was a “Free write”; whoever the hell thought of a free write? And of course, for Eddie, it was for a grade. He took a quick glance at Sydney; she gave of a smile and Eddie started writing.

Eddie decided to write about one of his favorite bands, “Nirvana”. This is what was written on his paper.

Nirvana was formed in the late eighties by front man and guitarist Kurt Cobain. The band in the late eighties gave Credit on there first album “Bleach” to Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Chad Channing, and Dale Crover. The album was released in 1988 with mild success. But, around 1991, Nirvana hired Dave Ghrol as drummer, and the music world would be taken by storm. In 1991, the album “Nevermind” was released. The song and hit single, “Smells Like Teen Spirit” put rock on top of pop almost overnight. By 1992, the album was triple platinum. Kurt Cobain later admitted that he was trying to rip of the Pixies when he wrote teen spirit. After the albums success, Kurt Cobain married Hole singer Courtney Love in early 1992.

After touring to support “Nevermind”, Nirvana made the album “In Utero”, which had a sound of something like broken guitars. Kurt Cobain was at the height of his career and drug addiction with heroin. After the albums tour, Nirvana appeared on MTV Unplugged. The show was a hit, with covers such as “The Man who sold the World” and “Jesus Don’t Want me for a Sunbeam”. Later, during a European tour, Kurt Cobain allegedly overdosed on a drug Courtney Love had acquired. Kurt Cobain was latter sent to a drug correction center in Los Angeles, California. The last thing Kurt Cobain was reported doing was playing with his one and a half year old daughter Francis Bean Cobain. He escaped the center and flew to Seattle. But, on April 5, 1994, he was found dead. Seattle police claimed that it was a suicide. There is debate of whether it was or not. A so called “Suicide” note was found by Kurt’s body. From what I remember, this is what it said.

Speaking from the tongue of an experienced simpleton who obviously would rather be an emasculated, infantile complain-ee. This note should be pretty easy to understand. . The fact is, I can't fool you, any one of you. It simply isn't fair to you or me. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I'm having 100% fun. Sometimes I feel as if I should have a punch-in time clock before I walk out on stage. I've tried everything within my power to appreciate it (and I do,God, believe me I do, but it's not enough). Thank you all from the pit of my burning, nauseous stomach for your letters and concern during the past years. I'm too much of an erratic, moody baby! I don't have the passion anymore, and so remember, it's better to burn out than to fade away.
Peace, love, empathy.
Kurt Cobain
Frances and Courtney, I'll be at your alter.
Please keep going Courtney, for Frances.
For her life, which will be so much happier without me.
I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU!

Eddie walked up to Mrs. Rachel’s desk and handed her the paper. He sat back down, wondering what he would score. He wrote the thing in twenty minutes, but ages seemed to pass by as he waited. He didn’t look at what Sydney was writing; he was lost in his thoughts about Kurt Cobain. The one thing he liked to study music, everything else was crap for him. Finally, after ten minutes, Mrs. Rachel announced, “Well, this is good for a seventy-three.” Seventy-three.

“What are you talking about; I gave all the information, the grammar and format was perfect, I even wrote part of the god damn suicide note, what the hell do you expect?” Eddie let out. All the classes’ attention was on him.

“Watch your mouth, the handwriting isn’t what I want it to be, and I don’t like the subject” Mrs. Rachel said snapping her fingers.

“Ok, maybe I’ll tell the school to fire you cause you aren’t that hot, and that you give students low grades for no reason. And I don’t like this subject, so maybe I’ll mark you down come teacher evaluations… I’ve heard they fire teachers if they get low scores on the evaluations here in Seattle.” Eddie remarked, kicking back in his chair. The class was silent.

The teacher went back to her desk and scribbled something down.

“An eighty-eight will do” she said.
“I see your hand writing isn’t the best miss” Eddie said sarcastically. The teacher ignored him.

Sydney leaned over and whispered into Eddie’s ear, “That was nice, you’re pretty cool, I’ll talk to you after class.” Eddie became petrified. Kids all around started talking about how “cool” he was. Maybe this was better then San Diego, maybe he would get far. Eddie simply laughed at the thought. He glanced at Sydney and then looked away, wondering if he really could love her.

The bell rang minutes later and Eddie walked out with Sydney. He didn’t know what to say.

“So, what’s your next class?” she asked.
“Math… Algebra” Eddie answered.
“Mine too! We can walk there together” she said.
“Were are you from?” Sydney asked.
“San Diego” Eddie remarked, walking with Sydney.
“Wow! I was born here, that is so cool!” she replied.

They entered math class.

“This is the new kid” Sydney told the teacher.
“Yeah, the name is Eddie Vender” Eddie said.
“My name is Mr. Smith, take a seat wherever you want” the teacher said taking a sip of coffee.
“He’s kinda crazy Eddie” Sydney whispered. Eddie nodded. They took a seat at the front. The math class was exactly like the English class, except it had a whiteboard. Eddie got relaxed; as a conversation would soon happened before class started. Eddie was confused; he didn’t know whether he should be the way he is. The question that came up was, was Eddie willing to change for Sydney, the person he could possibly love?

Chapter III

Chapter III

There was four minutes before class started; all the students would come in at the last second as usual. Eddie just wanted to relax, knowing that lunch would be after next period. But, Sydney broke his concentration.

“So, why did you come to Seattle?” she asked Eddie.

This was were Eddie had to think. Should he tell her the truth? That might cut her of and make her hate him. He didn’t want that, no one in the school knew of his record, not even the teachers and staff knew. Or should he lie to possibly the person he loved. After a few seconds he said, “My uncle moved, so I moved with him.” That was it.

“How long have you been here in Seattle?” she asked sounding interested.
“Three days, my uncle wants me to go to school before the break cause he thinks I can learn something.” Eddie said.
‘Wow three days! You probably don’t even know the city!” Sydney replied astonished.
“I actually came here when I was two and lived here till I was seven, then I moved back to San Diego; but know I’m here for good.” Eddie spoke, with confidence.
“Cool, you wanna hang out at lunch?” Sydney asked Eddie.
“Sure, why not?” Eddie answered, not feeling so nervous anymore.

There was one minute left with students rushing in. Most of them were from his other two classes; walking up and saying stuff like “What’s up”; Eddie just nodded his head as the comments came. Eddie tried to relax and not think of Sydney, he had never thought he would actually love someone, but it had seemed that he had. For the first time in his life, he felt bad for telling a lie. The bell rang.

“Alright students; today we will be doing some equations to study for the test. You don’t have to Eddie, but pay attention so you learn something” Mr. Smith told the class.

Of course, Eddie wouldn’t pay attention; he’d be lost in his own thoughts. He thought about his past and thought how stupid it was. He never had to do the drugs or sex, but he did it anyway. He would continue doing it, but it seemed that he really loved Sydney and didn’t wanna ruin it by telling her what he had done. But he didn’t know if he should change.

His uncle wasn’t much better then his dad, he still came drunk and bet Eddie till he lost conscience. But when he wasn’t drunk, he didn’t care what you did most of the time if you left him alone. Eddie believed his bad habits where because of his family, his mom was a drug addicted whore that died, his dad was an alcoholic cocaine maniac, and his uncle didn’t care for him. The teacher was saying something, but Eddie was lost in his thoughts.

As for Sydney, why did he feel this way for her when he had just met her? Was it because she looked good? She sure as hell was; but Eddie knew that it was something more… something much more. But how could such a sweet girl possibly fall in love with a criminal? She couldn’t, Eddie knew that, but he thought at least it would be nice to be friends.

Eddie didn’t really know what love was, he had never experienced it. Sure he had had sex, but that wasn’t really love. There was something about Sydney that made him love her, but he didn’t know what it was.

Love in Eddie’s mind was very complicated. If you are afraid to tell the person that you love them, why do you love them? You never know, they might just love you too. Eddie wasn’t just gonna tell Sydney he loved her since they had just met, he would wait so that he could get to know her better. His dad had married Eddie’s mother cause she was a cheap whore that supplied him with drugs. Eddie was a mistake of nature. Eddie held his tears back.

He had no brothers or sisters. He felt bad of the past, but it was nothing that he could do; and he still couldn’t stop thinking of Sydney.

“Eddie, are you paying attention?” Mr. Smith asked.
“Yeah” Eddie simply remarked.
“Care to tell the class the answer to this equation?” Mr. Smith asked, trying to catch Eddie of guard.
“Six and twenty-one hundredths?” Eddie replied.
“Correct Eddie, good job. Now class…” Mr. Smith continued.

Eddie got of lucky, he had guessed. He kinda liked math, not a lot, but it was kinda fun for him. He liked it cause his mind was always thinking. People had been friends despite his trouble with the law… but in his mind they weren’t really friends. Eddie looked at the clock, twenty minutes were left.

“Aw ****” Eddie said out loud.
“Did you say something Eddie?” Mr. Smith asked.
“Nope sir, just an equation in my head” Eddie replied. Sydney tucked on his sweater.
“Oops” he whispered. Mr. Smith carried on with the class.

Eddie had always wanted to live in New York City, he loved big cities. San Diego was ok, but he liked Seattle much better. Besides, Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley had once lived here. He loved the band “Eagles”, he loved the guitarists. The cover of “New York Minute” on the album “Hell Freezes Over” was his favorite song. Five minutes were left.

Sydney seemed to lean over to Eddie, but then withdrew for some odd reason. Eddie decided to think about his future. He didn’t know what he wanted to be. He either wanted to play bass or be an artist.

Eddie didn’t notice that the bell had rung until Sydney told him. They both left the class.

“So, what do you have next?” She asked Eddie.
“History… world history” Eddie replied.
“Cool, so do I. You are cool, you know that Eddie?’ Sydney told him.
“I guess” Eddie said. They walked into the history class.

“So you’re Eddie. I’m Mr. Richards, take a seat at the farthest back left desk” the teacher told Eddie.

Eddie walked in and took a seat, laying his binder down. The class was a square shape, small. There were only nine desks counting Eddie’s. It was as plain as the math class. The desks were arranged in three columns. Eddie relaxed and closed his eyes as Sydney took a seat in front of him.

Chapter IV

Chapter IV

Eddie took a breath, he was relieved. He wanted to do something so that his mind wouldn’t wonder again. Just being around Sydney made him nervous; he had no clue what to say. And that one girl Elena, what was she thinking when she kissed him? Eddie hated that when the girl didn’t know him, but wanted to go out on a date or something. He didn’t mind walking around and talking to get to know the person though.

Three minutes till the bell would ring, some students entered. He noticed one of them, Elena. ‘Aw ****” was what went on in Eddie’s head when he saw her. She took a seat in the desk to his right.

“So, what’s up?” Elena asked. Sydney turned around.
“**** I’m screwed” was what Eddie thought.
“Not much” Eddie replied.
“What’s up Elena?” Sydney asked Elena.

As all women do, they started talking about sophisticated bull****. Eddie had that feeling of getting up and slowly leaving the classroom; but there was two minutes before the bell would ring. Eddie tuned out what they were saying before Elena jumped on Eddie and gave him a hug. Eddie fell backwards.

“Aw ****, this is rape isn’t it?” Eddie spoke sarcastically.

Elena got of; Eddie stood up and sat down in his seat feeling slightly embarrassed. Sydney leaned over and grabbed his left hand and pulled it hard before letting it go.

“Now you’re just messing around with me, thank god I’m right handed” Eddie joked. Both of the girls laughed.

The remaining students came in just as the bell rang.

“Ok students, I want you to write a paper on any of the subjects we have gone over” Mr. Richards told the class, approaching Eddie.

“You can relax and do whatever you want, just don’t bother the students” the teacher told Eddie.

Great, what was Eddie gonna do? Well… he pulled out a sheet of paper and decided to write something to Sydney. The note said:

Dear Sydney,
You seem like a nice person and all… and I really wanna get to know you. I have never really had a friend. You are cool and all. If you wanna, we can go somewhere after school after I dump my stuff of… I don’t know, maybe to some movie? I’ll pay, I have the money. I don’t know, does 5:00 pm by the Seattle movie theater sound cool? My uncle will drive me. School ends at 3:00 pm, so I can get home on time. Well… you are a cool person and stuff. Guess we’ll talk after class, right?
Peace, love, Eddie

Eddie tapped Sydney by the shoulder. She turned around and Eddie handed her the note. She read it as Mr. Richards left the class. She turned around, hugged Eddie and gave him a kiss on the lips. “5:00 pm it is” she whispered into Eddie’s ear, turning back to write the paper. The class just smiled and continued writing; but Elena was burning with jealousy. Eddie just shrugged his shoulders.

He sat back and thought “wow”. Never had a girl kissed him outside of sex. He was in love, but scared about his past life. He thought it really screwed him up for the rest of his life. But Eddie had forgotten that that was the past, this was the present…

But Elena he thought… damn. Eddie didn’t care if they became friends, hell, she was nice and stuff. But sometimes, she just talks and you really couldn’t care less. A good friend, but not so much of a girlfriend was what Eddie thought. She just, well, demanded too much of you, damn Eddie hated that.

Eddie took out a blank sheet of paper and started drawing. Mr. Richards entered the class. Eddie was drawing a falcon; he loved falcons. Falcons and wolves are what best describe Eddie’s personality, loyal but still willing to take a chance; more of a curse than a gift. Within twenty minutes, he was done drawing. He slipped it into his binder. Ten minutes till class was over.

Eddie closed his eyes and thought of Pearl Jam. They haven’t made a decent album since “Animal” he thought. He also thought that maybe it was a good thing he got in trouble and went away from his father. But then again, if he and Eddie’s whore of a mother weren’t that way, maybe everything would’ve went ok. But dreaming wouldn’t change anything about life; what has happened has happened, and no one could do anything about it.

The reason that Eddie never had had a girlfriend was because he had never found the right person. All the girls cared about was the way he looked. Hell, he didn’t understand why, he was 5’8 132 pound, skinny and average height. Girls were constantly “dreaming’ about him in school. Eddie always thought if he was to go out with a girl; it would be so that the people would get know each other. Eddie found it kinda funny that Elena was jealous; it would teach her the “you can’t always get what you want” thing. She was still just staring at him. Eddie held himself back from laughing. Five minutes left in the class. Eddie would be glad that it would be lunch in a couple minutes.

Eddie planned on doing a joke. He pulled out a pencil from him binder. There was still some blood on his right hand from when Elena had cut him. He lifted up the pencil in a stabbing motion. Elena’s eyes widened. Just as Eddie was about to fake the injury, Elena dived out of her desk knocking Eddie out of his seat. She was on top of him on the floor.

“Jesus, are you gonna get of me? I don’t think we are at that stage yet” Eddie said sarcastically.

Elena got of Eddie and went back to her seat blushing. “It was a joke” Eddie remarked getting back in his seat. Mr. Richards gave of a laugh; and the entire class started laughing. Sydney was laughing uncontrollably. The bell rang and Eddie rushed out grabbing Sydney’s hand.

“What was that about?” Sydney asked, walking with Eddie to lunch.
“It was a joke, I was gonna pretend to stab myself, but I guess Elena overreacted” Eddie replied.

They both continued to walk to lunch. They entered the lunchroom; the say at the circular tables on the right side; the farthest one from the door.

“Wait here while I go get some lunch” Sydney said, going to the lunch line.

Eddie sat down, thank god he had a break from the classes. But as he was relaxing, Elena started walking towards him… ****.

UPDATE: Ha, managed to sneak in Chapter V today.

Chapter V

The lunchroom was huge. It had around fifteen tables that sat about fifteen-twenty students each. Eddie could smell the same old crap every school gave out. Eddie didn’t seem to care when people passed by him; he wanted friends… just not today.

Elena laid her backpack by the table and sat in front of Eddie. Eddie swallowed hard. What was she gonna say?

“So… what’s up” Eddie asked, giving of a quick smile.
“You know what it is, I’m in love with you Eddie!” she yelled out. The entire lunchroom heard. Eddie just said one thing, “what the ****?” No one on the lunchroom seemed to care.

‘Why?” Eddie asked.
“Well, you’re cool and stuff… and you seem really nice. I wanna get to know you and stuff like that. I don’t know, I just really love you I guess” Elena replied.
Eddie shook his head and said, “Well Elena, have you ever thought that maybe I like someone else? I don’t mind us being friends; but falling in love with someone I don’t even know… that is something I just don’t do.”
“Oh yeah? What about when Sydney kissed you in history; what was that?” Elena replied, trying to get Eddie to bite.
“I don’t know, she just kissed me, how should I know why?” Eddie remarked.
“Well, what did that note you gave her say?” Elena said.
“None of your business” Eddie told her. Elena was burning up.
“And why did you dive at me at the end of class?” Eddie asked.
“Cause you were gonna stab yourself!” she exclaimed.
“I call it a fake. I was gonna miss… you just can’t seem to take a joke” Eddie replied.
“So, are we cool, just friends?” Eddie managed to get out.
“Ok, I understand. Just one thing, can I give you a kiss?” Elena asked.
“Ok” Eddie said with a sigh.

Elena leaned over, but hesitated. She closed her eyes and kissed Eddie on the lips. “Thanks” Elena said.
“Sure” Eddie remarked.

Just as the drama ended, Sydney came and sat by Eddie. She looked at him and smiled. Eddie smiled back.

“Ha ha, you love Eddie” Sydney said giving of a quick laugh.
“Never mind that, we’re just friends, right Eddie?” Elena spoke.
“Yup, what she just said” Eddie replied.
“Ok Eddie” Sydney said.

There was a silence. “Everything can happen in a New York minute” Eddie thought to himself. He had gone from a cold person to a person who was actually in love. He was scared about telling his past and life… he was afraid that everyone would then start to hate him. He didn’t feel good about lying to Sydney either; but what was he to do? He loved Sydney, but didn’t wanna lie. Well, he might as well go on with life.

“How come you don’t have lunch?” Sydney asked Eddie.
“Cause I’m not hungry. What about Elena, she doesn’t have any lunch?” Eddie replied.
“Well, I have Elena’s lunch, we’re sisters” Sydney replied.

Sisters. This made Eddies life twice as hard. So Elena was jealous because her sister kissed the guy she might like? Wow. Eddie never expected that.

“So, how old are both of you?” Eddie asked.
“Well, I’m fourteen and Elena is thirteen. My birthday is October, 7th, while Elena’s is on September 22nd. Elena went to school early, so that’s why she’s in 8th grade with me” Sydney replied.
“Well, mine is on September 18th, and I’m fourteen” Eddie said.

“So, have you ever had a girlfriend?” Elena asked.

Eddie didn’t know what to say. Should he tell them what he did to the girls, or should he lie his way out? He wasn’t sure, so he just replied, “no”.

“Well that’s too bad” Elena responded.
“Eh, I really don’t care” Eddie said.
“You like music?” Sydney asked him.
“Yeah, especially Nirvana” Eddie answered.

There was a long silence. Eddie wished he had a cigarette to calm him down. He thought about heroin, he was gonna dump it for good. It was killing him, life had changed. He needed to act smarter in the future. But it isn’t that easy to drop a drug addiction. He knew what it would do to him. Hell, he never knew why he started it. Eddie knew that if his parents weren’t drug addicts none of this would’ve happened.

The bell rang. Eddie grabbed his binder and left with Sydney.
“What’s your next class?” Sydney asked.
“Advanced sciences” Eddie remarked.
“Cool, that’s my next class too” Sydney said, grabbing Eddie’s hand.

They walked into the science room.
“Yes yes, you are Eddie. I’m Mr. Sean; take a seat wherever you want” the teacher told Eddie.

Eddie and Sydney took a seat at the back of the room. The desks were arranged like his English class, but it the room was larger; there were seven labs to do experiments on. Eddie laid his binder on the table. He relaxed, but then Sydney said…
