THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
A Note on the Screenplay Adaptation of “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time”
I'm sure many of you are probably very eager to get on with the The Legend of Zelda screenplay I have written, but I feel I must give you all fair warning before hand. In the process of adapting Zelda: OoT into a screenplay many sacrifices were necessary in order to keep the story at a reasonable length. As you will notice on the title page of this script I have been working (off and on) on this screenplay for nearly five years now, cleaning it up, taking things out and replacing them with others. I have also in that time done my best to preserve the essence of the Zelda games while at the same time being forced to make major changes to the original games’ storyline, characters, and yes, even the races that inhabit OoT. I mention all of this because over the years I have put this up in various fan fiction forums for review and have gotten more or the less the same comments regarding some of the changes I’ve made. So before you read on let me let you in a little bit on some of the differences you’ll find in this screenplay when comparing it to the game: · The Kokiri are not a race of children as they are in the game. · The Gerudo consist of both men and women (although Nabooru herself does remain female, she does consist of the biggest character change of all when compared to the game). · The Zora and the Gorons have been completely eliminated from the story, although I do have a small nod to the both of them. · The Spiritual Stones, Sage Medallions and the Ocarina of Time have been condensed into one magical item I call the Medallion of Time. All of the things mentioned above and more have been sacrificed for the sake of time and story. It would simply take too long to tell this story in a two-hour period and in all fairness I felt that the characters and their relationships were more important and deserved a larger part of the script instead of spending countless amounts of time explaining why the Gerudo are all female or why the Kokiri are all children. The point I’m trying to make here is this: I am a serious screenwriter. I plan on doing this for a living. And, although I won’t delude myself into thinking I will ever get this script made, I am still 100 percent committed to the craft of filmmaking. When I took on this project five years ago I set out with the hopes of making a true Zelda Screenplay that could appease both hardcore fans and people who’d never even heard of the game before. One last thing: given the length of this script (about 116 pages) I will be posting it in small parts so as not to overwhelm any interested readers. So on that note, enjoy the script and please, don’t be too hard on me. ![]() Daniel Alfaro ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Hero of Time by Daniel Alfaro Disclaimer: "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, Hyrule and other related characters and settings belong to Nintendo. FADE IN: CLOSE UP Of the Book of Mudora lying open on top of a table. The words on the page are written in runic letters. This is the ancient Hylian language of Hyrule. Between the words are crudely drawn pictures, much like the pictographs found in ancient Egypt, depicting the words on the page. One picture shows the three Goddesses of Hyrule: DIN, FARORE, and NAYRU. ZELDA'S VOICE Many centuries ago, three Goddesses of power descended from the heavens to create life from nothingness. We PAN OVER to the next page showing two more, smaller pictures. One is of Din flying over a barren wasteland, a trail of red rain flowing out from beneath her. The second is of Hyrule as a harsh red desert. ZELDA'S VOICE Din, the Goddess of Power, cultivated the land with her magic and created the red earth. The page turns and we see another set of pictures, this time of the Goddess of Wisdom, Nayru. The first is of Nayru rising up from the ground in a swirling pattern, drops of blue rain following her. The second is of a much healthier Hyrule complete with trees and grass. ZELDA'S VOICE With the Goddess of Wisdom, Nayru, came the oceans and the sun as well as bestowing upon the land the Spirit of the Law. We PAN OVER to the next page for the next set of pictures. One is of Farore, the Goddess of Courage, hovering above Hyrule. Her power is spread out over the entire lands in a circular pattern. The other is a picture of people and animals working together to cultivate the land. ZELDA'S VOICE But with Farore, the Goddess of Courage, came life. The page turns showing the three Goddesses ascending back towards the heavens seemingly getting closer as they do. ZELDA'S VOICE Their work done, the Goddesses ascended back into the heavens, but not without leaving one last mark of their existence. The next picture on the following page shows the collision of the Goddesses. Beneath that shows three golden pyramids, two with their bases right next to each other, the third with it's base on top of the other two. ZELDA'S VOICE The Triforce. The symbol of our religion, of our devotion to the three Goddesses who breathed life into the empty void and created our land, Hyrule. The Triforce. An ancient relic of unspeakable power left by the goddesses. The power to grant the wishes of any who attain it, good or evil. We move closer to the picture of the Triforce until we WHITE OUT: EXT. HYRULE FIELDS - NIGHT A heavy rain is pouring downward filling the screen. We PAN DOWN until the sight of a huge castle in the middle of a large plain can be seen with its drawbridge down. A YOUNG BOY, 14 years old, can be seen standing in front of the drawbridge shivering, his back to us. He wears a green tunic with matching hat and pants as well as brown boots. CUT TO: CLOSE UP Of a horse's hooves galloping on cobbled stones. The white horse gallops fiercely, its ironed hooves clanging on the road with amazing strength and speed. CUT TO: WIDE SHOT Of the boy standing before the drawbridge. He is clutching his arms around chest trying to stay warm, his back still to us. We see the white horse exiting from inside the castle heading straight for the boy. INSERT As the horse passes him we get a closer look at its passengers. A STRONG LOOKING WOMAN with white hair holds in her hands the reigns to the horse. Sitting on her lap is a YOUNGGIRL, about the boy's age, wearing a white with yellow trim dress. BACK TO SCENE The horse races passed the boy without a second thought. The Young Girl looks back at him with fright, but the Strong Looking Woman doesn't stop the horse. Soon they are out of sight. The boy stares off as the riders disappear into the darkness. Silence ensues for a brief moment. Then, from behind the boy, we hear a horse grinding its feet into the ground and snort. The boy turns and sees looming behind him a DARK MAN on a horse smiling evilly down at him. There is no mistaking the fear in the boy's eyes. The Dark Man pulls out his sword and raises his stallion to its hind feet. As the horse lets out a deafening holler the Dark Man raises his sword in the air. The boy stumbles back onto the ground as he braces himself for the hit. And right before it does we CUT TO: INT. KOKIRI FOREST - TREE HOUSE - DAY The boy wakes up from his dream with a slight "yelp". He wipes the sweat from his brow, pulling himself together. This is LINK, about fourteen years old. He's a cute kid that a lot of the girls seem to like a lot. It takes him a second to register his surroundings before he realizes he's in a house carved out of a large tree trunk. In other words, he's exactly where he's supposed to be. The hut is small but cozy consisting of two beds with blankets faintly resembling tree leaves. A small table with a chair sit in front of a circular window, the dawn's yellow light shining through it. Outside, a female voice calls to him. It is his sister, SARIA, eighteen. SARIA'S VOICE Link? Link are you ready? Upon hearing her voice he throws the covers off and starts desperately looking for his boots and hat. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - DAY The forest is a place inhabited by a small tribe called the Kokiri Forest People. As we move across the forest we see tree after tree of houses similar to Link's, their trunks reaching high. All of the Kokiri tribe have gathered in the center of the forest around a large tree known as the GREAT DEKU TREE. It is a huge, magnificent tree that seems to cover half the forest with its glorious leaves and branches. Saria waits nervously outside while the rest of the people stand near the Great Deku Tree. She looks back at them and puts on her best smile. SARIA He was really tired last night. She turns away from them resuming her nervous look. While the rest of the people wait patiently, MIDO, a boy about Link's age, is slowly getting frustrated. He turns over to NYDIA, the Orator to the Great Deku Tree. In other words if the Great Deku Tree were God then she'd be the pope. MIDO How long do we have to wait for him today? NYDIA (calmly) As long as we have to. Link can be seen coming out of the tree house fumbling with his hat. He is clothed in the same green tunic with brown boots we saw him wearing in his dream. Saria gives Link a look of frustration. He smiles trying to get on her good side, but to no avail. They join the rest of the group. NYDIA We may begin. MIDO (to himself) Finally... Nydia looks over at Mido not so much angry as she is concerned. He lowers his head in respect. Nydia begins the morning ritual of the Great Deku Tree. She stands in front of the Great Deku Tree holding a hollow bowl-shaped deku nut the size of a large melon. It is filled halfway with a very distinct blue water. NYDIA Berna no voce sah maladi. Berna no voce lan keesh panomi. The rest of the tribe repeats after her. Nydia pours the liquid from inside the nut onto the grass before the Great Deku Tree. The ground absorbs it quickly. She holds out the Deku nut. Saria reaches out and takes it. Nydia kneels to the ground and kisses the spot where she poured the liquid. When she gets to her feet the tribe disperses. The ritual is over. Link tries to sneak away from Saria, but when she rests her hand on his shoulder he knows he's been caught. SARIA What are we going to do with you, Link? LINK Uh... you could let me live. SARIA Well, as far as I'm concerned I could never hurt my own brother. But I'm not sure I can protect you from the rest of the village. Link, you're going to have to wake up earlier for the morning ritual. You know we can't start unless everyone's here. LINK You could wake me up, you know. SARIA What for? You're a big boy now. You should be able to wake up on your own. Besides, you know I have to get up early and gather herbs for the ritual. LINK I know, I know... SARIA So what's the matter? Are you sick or something? LINK I had another one of my dreams again. SARIA Oh. Was it the bad one? He nods. SARIA Well, it's best not to think about it. The dreams aren't real after all. They'll pass soon enough. A group of KOKIRI GIRLS Link's age walk by and eye him with obvious interest. GIRLS (together) Hi, Link. LINK (modestly) Hello. They giggle as they continue on. Saria looks at Link, a big smile on her face. LINK What? SARIA Why don't you go talk to them? LINK I don't know. SARIA You don't know? Are you afraid of girls or something? LINK (quickly) No! I'm not afraid of anything. SARIA (nudging him) So do something about it. LINK Don't wanna. SARIA Fine. Be a lonely bachelor the rest of your life. LINK What's a bachelor? SARIA (smiling) Oh! Get out of here you nut. He runs over to a group of Kokiri boys. Saria watches him then goes inside her tree house. Mido joins the group with his friend TY. The boys Link was playing with begin to disperse not wanting to get involved in whatever Ty and Mido are planning. MIDO Hey, Link. You sleep well? TY Yeah, you sleep well? LINK Not really. MIDO You keep sleeping in so late you're gonna wake up dead. TY Yeah, wake up dead. LINK How do you wake up dead? MIDO What do you mean how do you wake up dead? You just do. TY Yeah, you just do. LINK But if I go to bed and die while I'm sleeping then I can't wake up. Because I'm dead. Mido is silent as he tries to compute what Link said. Ty begins to laugh. MIDO Shut up! (to Link) So you think you're smart or something? LINK No. MIDO (pushing him) Yeah, you do. You think you're some kinda genius. LINK Don't touch me. Ty stands behind Link with his foot slightly stuck out. MIDO What's the matter? Gonna cry? Huh? You gonna cry like a little baby? LINK No, I'm not. Now go away. Mido pushes him. Link trips over Ty's foot and falls into a puddle of mud. They laugh in his face then run off into the woods. Link pushes himself to his feet and wipes the mud off himself. |

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
Very, very good. I mean that. I must say I'm also interested in film, although I've never written a serious screenplay such as this one. I just have one teensy thing:

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
INT. HYRULE CASTLE - COURTYARD - DAY
The castle courtyard is like a circular sculpture garden with stone bricks piled as high as the eye can see. It is filled with small and delicate flowers as well as tall, glorious statues. Directly across from the entrance is a small throne made of granite, a window directly behind. Peering through the window is PRINCESS ZELDA, about 13 years old. She's a perky little kid who is much smarter than most thirteen year-olds are usually given credit for. The window she is peering through leads right into the King's Throne Room. POV of Zelda We see her father, KING DAPHNES NOHANSEN HYRULE, surrounded by a roomful of ROYAL GUARDS. He is a stern, but wise looking man of 50. He sits in a tall throne painted in gold with red trimming. Standing next to him are two NOBLEMEN, the King's trusted advisors. The room is cut from the same stone granite the courtyard is constructed of and draped with blue and white curtains. The throne room's door opens and in walks GANONDORF DRAGMIRE, King of the Gerudo Clansmen (also known as the Gerudo Thieves). We recognize him immediately as being the man from Link's dream. Zelda cowers lower behind the window sill. CUT TO: THRONE ROOM - CONTINUOUS Ganondorf enters with the female warrior NABOORU, his second in-command, and two GERUDO GUARDS. He kneels before the King. GANONDORF Your Highness. KING Sir Ganondorf, what news do you bring today? GANONDORF The news concerns my people, Highness. KING Is that so? And what may those concerns be? GANONDORF They are dying, my liege. KING Dying? Of what disease? GANONDORF From the disease of poverty, sire. As the King of the Gerudo Clan I humble myself before his majesty and ask of him to lend us aid in this, our most trying time. KING You mean aid in the giving of currency, do you not? GANONDORF Yes, sire. You have my word as a Gerudo that as soon as my people are well again we will repay all debts. KING And what do I have to prove that you will keep your word? GANONDORF I have only my word, my King. KING Sir Ganondorf, you have served under my rule for only a short time. And as grateful as I am of the advice you have supplied for our military purposes I am afraid that I am unable to provide such a request. GANONDORF But your Majesty - KING Please, let me finish. If I were to in fact grant such a request it would drain us Hylians of the needs we require in order to survive. I am sorry. As much as I honor your intentions and the services you have provided I'm afraid my people must come first. GANONDORF I understand, sire. KING (pause) I'll tell you what. I, as well as some of the other Nobles, will discuss the details of your situation in our next lands meeting. In one weeks time we would have reached a conclusion on where we Hylians stand on the Gerudo. GANONDORF Thank you, sire. That's all I ask. KING Good. Now, on to other business. It has come to my attention that there are a small group of bandits causing trouble in the Northland's... Ganondorf senses something. The King's words drift off into the b.g. as Ganondorf turns his head slightly to the window from which Zelda is spying. Zelda hides quickly so as not to get caught. KING Sir Ganondorf? Ganondorf turns his attention back to the King. GANONDORF Sorry, your majesty. You were saying? CUT BACK TO: COURTYARD - CONTINUOUS Zelda peeks over the window sill again to see that Ganondorf has resumed his conversation with the King. From the entrance to the courtyard we see IMPA, Zelda's faithful servant. Despite her strong appearance and masculine femininity she is quite sensitive. She has white hair and piercing red eyes and is clothed in blue and white jump suit with a red eye on its chest. She spots Zelda kneeling in front of the window and clears her throat. Zelda spins around, caught. IMPA What are you doing? ZELDA I was... just admiring the... freshly cut marble. IMPA Do not lie to me. You were spying on your father again, were you not? ZELDA (hangs her head) Yes... IMPA Princess. We have had this discussion before. Your father does not app - ZELDA - Does not approve of me looking in on his meetings, I know. IMPA So who was it this time? Was it that guard you were showing me the other day? ZELDA (giggling) No. IMPA Well, then who could possibly be on the other side of this window that is so interesting... She peeks through the window and sees Ganondorf talking with the King. She turns to Zelda and gives her a strange look. IMPA I am not sure I understand this. ZELDA (quickly, disgusted) No! It's not like that. Ew! IMPA Then tell me what could possibly be so interesting about Ganondorf? ZELDA Nothing... IMPA Very well. I will respect your right to privacy. ZELDA You will? IMPA Yes. ZELDA Okay. IMPA It just means I will have to cancel today's outing is all. Zelda opens her mouth to protest, but Impa stops her. IMPA No. There is no use complaining about it. ZELDA (giving in) Fine. Impa considers then kneels down in front of Zelda who climbs up on her back. Impa stands up and begins to walk through Hyrule Castle Grounds. CUT TO: HYRULE CASTLE GROUNDS - CONTINUOUS The Hyrule Grounds consists mostly of garden pathways with delicately trimmed bushes and fountain sculptures. There are many Royal Guards walking back and forth making sure no unauthorized people get in. IMPA My, goodness, Princess. If you keep growing like this I will not be able to carry you much longer. ZELDA What are you talking about? Of course you will. IMPA So are you going to tell me why you were spying on Ganondorf or am I going to have to take away your dinner? ZELDA (a beat) What do you think of Ganondorf? IMPA I think he is an ambitious leader. He seems to genuinely care for his people. Zelda sighs. IMPA My answer displeases you? ZELDA No, it's not that. It's just - ever since he's arrived I've felt... strange. Like he's hiding something. IMPA And what might that be? ZELDA I can't figure it out. Something dark. Did I tell you I saw him in the Castle library? IMPA No. ZELDA He was just sitting there with all these books around him staying up 'til all hours of the night. Weird. IMPA And what, might I ask, were you doing staying up all hours of the night? ZELDA Uh, it was... hot. IMPA (disbelieving) Go on. ZELDA Well, after he was done I took a look at one of the books he was reading. It was open to the section about the medallion. Impa's ears perk up. She chews on this for a little while. ZELDA Could he be after what I think he's after? IMPA It is too soon to be making speculations. He could just be interested in ancient literature. ZELDA Oh please. You don't expect me to believe that, do you? IMPA Your father might. ZELDA Daddy's not dumb. He'd believe me if I told him. IMPA Need I remind you of the previous time you foretold of such an event? ZELDA No, I remember it quite well, thank you. IMPA And I am sure your father does as well. ZELDA But that was so long ago. He has to have forgotten it by now. IMPA You put the entire city in an uproar. Your father readied three armies and for what? A dream. ZELDA If I told him it was a dream he'd never have believed me. IMPA He would have proceeded with more caution is all. Impa walks into the horse stables. CUT TO: STABLES - CONTINUOUS The stables are full of many different horses being tended by various horse wranglers. Impa, with Zelda still on her back, enters and slightly kneels next to a white horse already saddled. Zelda sticks her foot into the stirrup and pulls herself onto the horse. IMPA I am definitely getting too old to keep carrying you like this. She looks at Zelda who has a look of concern on her face. IMPA Does Ganondorf's presence bother you that much? She nods. IMPA Well, if you feel that strongly about it then I guess there is only one thing to do. Talk to the King and try to convince him to do something about it. ZELDA He'll never believe me. IMPA He might if I told him. ZELDA Really? You'd do that? IMPA You know how stubborn I can get. I will not leave until I get what I want. ZELDA Thank you, Impa. You're wonderful. Zelda reaches out and hugs Impa who, in turn, hugs her back. |

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - LOST WOODS - NIGHT
One look at this place and it is easy to see why it is called the Lost Woods. It is filled with thick trees and fog so dense you can barely see but a few feet in front of you. Saria can be seen with a small bouquet of flowers in her hand. She walks up to a spot underneath a lone tree and kneels before it. She digs a small hole with her hands and places the flowers in it. Saria sits there for a few minutes before getting up and walking out of the woods. CUT TO: INT. KOKIRI FOREST - TREE HOUSE - NIGHT Link is reluctantly getting into bed as Saria pulls the covers over him. LINK But it's early. SARIA I know it's early, that's why. Tomorrow I want you to be the first one out for the morning ritual waiting for everyone else to get their lazy butts out of bed. Not the other way around. LINK But I'm not tired and I don't want to go to sleep. SARIA I'm telling you to go to bed now do as I say. LINK What for? You're not my mom. An awkward silence fills the room. Link's face has dropped entirely, astonished at what he just said. LINK I am so sorry. SARIA It's ok. Saria finishes tucking Link in before she starts to cry. She sits on the edge of the bed with her face in her hands. Link wraps his arms around her and hugs her tight. LINK Please don't cry. I didn't mean it. I'm sorry. SARIA (wiping her face) I don't know how long I can keep this in anymore, Link. LINK I said I was sorry. SARIA No, it's - it's not that. For so long I've managed to fool myself into thinking that I could take care of you as good as mom - could... but I just don't think I can anymore. LINK I don't think you did such a bad job. SARIA Thanks. LINK (pause) What was mom like? SARIA What do you want to know about? LINK Whatever you remember. SARIA There's not much I do remember. I was only four when she died. I do remember how beautiful she was. Especially her hair. She had this beautiful, long, golden mane of hair. When I was little I dreamed of having hair just like her's but... (holding up a strand of hair) ...as you can see... You're stuck with what you're born with. Link smiles, as does she. Saria opens her mouth wanting to say more, but doesn't. SARIA Maybe we should go to bed now. She strokes his hair as she blows out the candle next to his bed. Link pulls the covers over his shoulder and falls asleep. CUT TO: EXT. HYRULE FIELDS - NIGHT Two horsemen gallop across the darkened plains silhouetted by moonlight as they ride into the desert. We move in closer and recognize the horsemen as Ganondorf and Nabooru, who rides quietly beside him. It's obvious from the look on her face that she's not happy about something. GANONDORF You're quiet. NABOORU Of course I'm quiet. GANONDORF May I ask why? NABOORU Because there's nothing to talk about. GANONDORF I see. You're upset about the King's decision. NABOORU I'm upset about your reluctance to do anything about it. GANONDORF There was nothing I could do about it. NABOORU After all these Hylians have done to us you remain content letting them step all over you. I'm beginning to wonder if you're actually going to keep the promises you've made to our people. GANONDORF I did my best. What more can I give? NABOORU More. You can always give more. GANONDORF I am King of the Gerudo people and I say we will wait until the King and the nobles make their final decision. NABOORU And if they say no? What then? Allow our people to die just like that? GANONDORF I would never let that happen. You know I'd do everything in my power to protect our people. NABOORU Well, I don't see you doing very much about it. Ganondorf stays silent. Nabooru stops her horse. NABOORU Stop. Stop and look at me. Ganondorf complies. He turns his horse and looks at her. She closes the distance between them and looks him straight in the eye. NABOORU Ganondorf... all these years I have watched you grow from youth hood to the strong and noble king before me. And it pains me to see these Hylians take advantage of your goodness and decency. If you had the experience I've had with these people you would not sit down and take this without a fight. GANONDORF You think me weak. NABOORU I think you young and inexperienced. Believe me when I tell you, son, these Hylians are no good. GANONDORF I am no son of yours. I am nothing, but a weak fool. Undeserving of your love. NABOORU You are my son and I couldn't have raised a finer man than if he were born of my own blood. GANONDORF Tell me then, Nabooru, what are we to do if our people are denied the aid we require? NABOORU We will take it by force. It may take all the power our clan can muster but we will prevail. We must. GANONDORF Yes. We must... and will. But not without the help of the Goddesses. NABOORU We will pray twice as much in order for them to hear us. GANONDORF No. It will take more than praying to defeat the Hylian Kingdom. Nabooru gives him a curious look. Ganondorf shimmies his horse and continues on. Nabooru quickly follows. CUT TO: INT. HYRULE CASTLE - THRONE ROOM - DAY Inside the Throne Room, Impa is seen talking to the King. IMPA It concerns Ganondorf, your Highness. KING Is it serious? IMPA It could be, Sire. We are not sure. KING We? IMPA (hesitant) The Princess and I, your Highness. KING Continue. IMPA It is our belief that Ganondorf Dragmire has learned the whereabouts of the Medallion of Time and plans to steal it. KING These are very serious charges, Impa. What proof does the Princess offer? IMPA She has seen him, Sire... KING Trying to steal the medallion? IMPA No. She has seen him in the Castle libraries reading books dealing with the medallion. KING (relieved) Impa. I cannot arrest a man simply because he reads books. That's not a crime. IMPA I know, Sire, but - KING I understand the need for concern what with our past relations with the Gerudo Clan. But those years are over. IMPA Yes, Sire, but - KING Do you know what you're asking me to do? You're asking me to doubt one of my most trusted advisors. A man who has for the past two years been of great service to the Hylian people. And you do so without providing any proof. She is silent. KING I appreciate the concern you and Princess Zelda are showing on this matter. But without sufficient evidence I cannot do a thing about it. IMPA Then perhaps there is something we can do about the medallion instead. He may have learned of its location, but without the Silver Key of Zora he will not have access to it. If it would please your Majesty I would like to appoint a guardian for the key. Just as a precaution to it falling into the wrong hands. KING Any suggestions? IMPA I recommend Nydia of the Kokiri. KING Very well, Impa. If it would make you and Zelda feel better: I hereby entrust the Silver Key of Zora unto you and the Princess. IMPA (smiling) Thank you, Sire. She bows before the King once more before turning around and heading out the door. |

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - DAY
It is day and the people are once again waiting for Link so that they can start the morning ritual. Saria turns to look to her fellow villagers, but instead of smiling to reassure them, she just lowers her eyes in embarrassment. Mido has had enough. He steps right into the middle of the group. MIDO Why are we even waiting for him? NYDIA You know why, Mido MIDO But it's stupid! MIDO'S MOTHER snaps at him. MIDO'S MOTHER Mido! Come here! MIDO No! He completely disrespects our morning ritual and doesn't even care. Besides, it's not like he's a real Kokiri so why do we even wait for him? The crowd is shocked into silence. Mido, not realizing what he's said, looks up at Nydia. She in turn looks to Saria and then passed her. Saria follows her eyes to find Link with a stunned look on his face. The look in his eyes says it all. His eyes fill with tears and he runs off into the woods. Saria glares at Mido who has a pitiful look on his face then quickly chases after Link. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - LOST WOODS - SAME As soon as Saria arrives she stops running and begins slowly walking through the woods inspecting examining behind every trunk. The fog does little to aid her search. SARIA Link! Link! Please answer me, Link! She walks up to one of the trees and looks up to see if he's hiding in the branches. SARIA Link? LINK'S VOICE Go away! She turns in the direction of his voice following it the best she can. SARIA Link! Please, you have to give me a chance. LINK'S VOICE Leave me alone! SARIA Please let me explain - LINK'S VOICE I don't want to talk to you! You're a liar! SARIA Please - LINK'S VOICE No! You lied to me! Everything you say is a lie. Everything about you, about me, about mom! SARIA Oh Link. I've wanted to tell you for so long. I just never knew how. LINK'S VOICE You never knew my mother, did you? Why did you tell me you knew her if you never did? SARIA I did, Link. I did. And everything I said about her was true. She gave you to me and I did the best I could in making sure you grew up the way she wanted you to. Link, I love you. You're my brother - LINK'S VOICE I'm not your brother! SARIA Yes you are, Link! Yes you are! You will always be my brother. And I will always think of you that way because I love you too much not to. She falls to the ground crying. After a few minutes Link steps out from one of the nearby trees. She looks up and sees him. She wipes the tears away from her face and moves towards him wanting to hug him but he takes a step back. LINK How many people knew? Besides you and Mido. SARIA Just a few of the elders... Nydia. I don't know how Mido found out. I am so sorry, Link. I never meant for you to find out this way. Damn Mido! Damn him! I could kill him for this. Really kill him. LINK It's not his fault. I guess - I guess it's... not your fault either. He walks up to her and hugs her. SARIA This changes nothing. I still love you. They hug for a bit longer then Saria gets to her feet. She wipes the last of her tears away from her face and helps Link to his feet. She takes a look at their surroundings. SARIA Out of all the places you had to run away to, did you have to pick the Lost Woods? LINK (sheepishly) Sorry. She smiles. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - SAME As Saria and Link walk out of the Lost Woods hand in hand they are greeted by the entire village of Kokiri who have been waiting patiently outside. Mido's Mother push Mido to the front of the group where he and Link meet face to face. MIDO (hesitant) Umm... I just wanted to... apologize. MIDO'S MOTHER What are you sorry for, Mido? MIDO For what I said. Sorry. Link shares a look with Saria then looks back at Mido. LINK It's okay. He holds out his hand and Mido takes it uncertainly. There hands shake. The whole village lets out a soft sigh. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - NIGHT It is dusk out on the fields. A person on horseback is seen riding to the entrance of the Kokiri forest. Standing right on the edge of the forest is Nydia. We recognize the horseman as Impa. She has strapped to the horse's side a small satchel. Impa takes off the satchel and hands it to Nydia. IMPA Keep this in a safe place. NYDIA Of course. IMPA We put our trust unto you. Nydia takes the satchel and Impa is soon off heading back towards the castle. CUT TO: INT. HYRULE CASTLE - THRONE ROOM - DAY Ganondorf is once again standing before the King. Also attending the meeting are the King's NOBLEMEN. They stand in a small semi-circle around the throne wearing dark purple robes and silver headdresses. KING Sir Ganondorf, it is my sad duty to inform you that the Nobles as well as myself have come to the conclusion that we will not be able to aid your people in the problems you are facing. I am sorry. GANONDORF (pause) May I ask why? NOBLEMAN You know the reasons Gerudo. GANONDORF (firmly) I am speaking to his majesty. NOBLEMAN And you've gotten your answer. Be thankful you received anything at all. KING Enough! Both of you! I will not stand for this childish bickering. I sympathize with you, Sir Ganondorf. I really do. But as I stated before my people must come first. GANONDORF I understand, your highness. KING Good. So if there is nothing else you would like to discuss...? GANONDORF No. Nothing else. KING Fine then. Good day. Ganondorf kneels before the King and then quickly heads towards the double doors that lead out of the Throne Room. As Ganondorf leaves the Nobleman leans close into the King's ear. NOBLEMAN You made the right decision your Excellency. It was for the good of all Hyrule. KING Yes, for Hyrule. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - DAY The morning ritual has just ended and Nydia is strolling over to her hut when a voice is heard from behind. SARIA (O.S.) Nydia? She turns to find Saria and Link standing behind her. She looks at Saria then at Link and smiles. CUT TO: INT. KOKIRI FOREST - NYDIA'S HUT - SAME The hut takes after the rest of the tree houses in size. It is small and a bit cramped yet still manages to contain its sense of coziness. A table near a window is cluttered with small vials of healing potions and herbs. Nydia moves from one part of her hut to the other taking different herbs off the shelves and mixing them together. Link and Saria sit patiently on the floor watching her. NYDIA For hundreds of years we Kokiri have lived here. Our only source of life comes from the Deku Tree, which provides protection for us from the outside world. (to Link) Do you know what would happen to a Kokiri if they left the forest for too long a time? He shakes his head. NYDIA They would turn into monsters, doomed to roam the Hylian plains forever. LINK How do you know? NYDIA Because if they had survived they would have come back. Yes, all who are Kokiri have failed. But as Mido so haphazardly revealed yesterday, you are not a Kokiri. LINK That's what I wanted to talk to you about. I was wondering if you knew who my mother was or maybe where it is I am from? NYDIA The question of our very heritage is one not many people receive the answer to. Fortunately, not all of us are as lucky as you are, Link, to receive the answer. However, upon hearing what I have to tell you, you must be willing to accept the responsibility that will be placed upon you. LINK Well, I think I have a right to know who she was. NYDIA No, Link. It is much bigger than that. (sits) Fourteen years ago, Hyrule was in the last years of a great Civil War known as the Fierce Wars. It was fought between two of the Hyrule people, the Hylians who live in the fields and led lives of farming, and the Gerudo Thieves who now inhabit in the desert. CUT TO: EXT. HYRULE FIELDS - FARM HOUSE - NIGHT It is the last years of the great civil war. We look down upon a Hylian farmhouse completely engulfed in flames. 30. Groups of GERUDO THIEVES are pulling a FARMER and his two DAUGHTERS out of the house. NYDIA'S VOICE The Gerudo Thieves were brutal mercenaries. During the war they would attack small villages killing women and children as they went. Exiting through the back window is a PREGNANT WOMAN, the farmer's wife. She begins to run in the opposite direction of the farmhouse, towards the forest. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - DAY The Kokiri are working around the forest, building a home, planting trees, and growing crops. The Pregnant Woman appears at the entrance of the forest. The first person to notice her is Nydia fourteen years younger. Nydia runs up to the woman and then calls to the others for help. CUT TO: INT. KOKIRI FOREST - TREE HOUSE - SAME The pregnant woman is lying in bed having her injuries cleaned and dressed while she tells of what happened to her. Bringing in a pitcher of water and some rags is Saria, only four years old. NYDIA'S VOICE The village met and it was agreed it would be safe for both her and her unborn child to stay in the forest until after the war ended. CUT TO: TREE HOUSE - LATER The pregnant woman is surrounded by Kokiri women as she gives birth. Nydia stands between the woman's legs until finally she holds up a baby boy, Link, in his infancy. A KOKIRI WOMAN holds up a cloth to put the baby in and then brings him over to his mother. She smiles weakly as the baby cries. LINK'S MOTHER I think... Link... yes Link. It was his Father's name. She closes her eyes and rests the baby on her shoulder. She reaches out to Saria and takes her hand. NYDIA'S VOICE Knowing her end was near, she entrusted her child to the young Kokiri girl who had helped clean and bandage her wounds. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - LOST WOODS - DAY The whole village has gathered together to view the burial of Link's mother. Nydia performs the burial ritual. She places the pedals of flowers on each of her eyelids and sprinkles the rest all over her body. She rubs some mud onto her thumbs and draws a line from the top of Link's Mother's forehead all the way down to the tip of her nose. She rubs two more streaks of mud down the sides of her cheeks. NYDIA'S VOICE She died two days later from her wounds. We gave her a Kokiri burial and laid her to rest in the Lost Woods where she would sleep in eternal peace. Some KOKIRI MEN lower the body into a hole they have dug. Saria watches as she holds Baby Link in her hands. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - DAY Nydia is holding Baby Link as she walks up to the Deku Tree. She places the baby on the ground before the Deku Tree then reaches her hand out to Saria who hands her a bowl. Nydia goes up to the Deku Tree and breaks off a small branch that spills out some sap. She gathers the sap in the bowl, picks up some dirt from the ground and begins mixing it with a stick. After a few seconds she throws the stick away and then goes up to the baby. With a small knife she cuts the baby's finger open a bit and mixes the blood drops in with the sap and dirt. Soon the sap begins to turn a bright green. NYDIA'S VOICE It was then I knew that the child was important. CUT BACK TO: INT. KOKIRI FOREST - NYDIA'S HUT - DAY Link continues to listen intensely. NYDIA It is foretold in the Book of Mudora that when darkness falls upon Hyrule a hero will rise and conquer the evil spread over the land. I believe that you are the one sent to deliver us from this tyranny. He is speechless. NYDIA I know that after yesterday's shock that this must come at an even worse time for you, Link. But like it or not there are some things about our lives that cannot be changed - SARIA Let's go, Link. She takes Link by the hand and leads him out of the hut. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - CONTINUOUS Saria can be seen holding Link's hand as she marches angrily towards their house. SARIA It's a bunch of nonsense! I can't believe it. I can't believe she would say something like that. How dare her! Link. She stops him and looks him straight in the eyes. SARIA I don't want you to take anything that she said seriously. Okay? You are the only one that has control over your life and nobody else. Don't believe a word she said. He looks up saddened and right then she knows that Nydia's words have gotten to him. She hugs him. In the distance, the sounds of horses galloping can be heard coming closer and closer. Suddenly three black stallions come bursting into the forest. On them are Ganondorf, Nabooru and a GERUDO THIEF. They stop their horses in the middle of the forest grabbing everybody's attention. They dismount. As Ganondorf and Nabooru walk towards Nydia's Hut everyone begins moving out of their way. POV of Link We can barely make out Ganondorf behind all of the people. We see the Gerudo Thief standing by the three horses The people wait outside curiously wondering what's going on. Saria and Link make their way to the crowd also trying to get a peak. After a few minutes of murmuring and hushed voices among the villagers Ganondorf bursts out of the hut, a not so happy look on his face. Link recognizes him immediately as the man from his dream. He clutches tightly to Saria. LINK (whispering) That's him. That's the man in my dream. The Gerudo mount their horses, but before they leave Ganondorf looks down at the people. GANONDORF You're precious Orator has just signed all of your death warrants. Nydia comes out of her tent. Ganondorf glare at her. She returns his gaze with a glare of her own. GANONDORF I want it in three days, old woman. And just so you know I'm serious - He holds out his hand in the direction of the Deku Tree. The tree begins to glow and suddenly some of its branches burst into flames. A group of Kokiri rush the tree and begin to throw buckets of water on the burning branches. Ganondorf kicks his steed and is off followed by Nabooru and the Geruod thief leaving the village in utter chaos. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - DAY CLOSE UP Of a deku nut as it pours the now familiar blue liquid used in the Kokiri morning ritual. CUT TO: WIDE SHOT Of the Kokiri around the Great Deku Tree. Nydia hands the deku nut out as another Kokiri takes it. She kneels down to the spot where she poured the liquid and sees that instead of being soaked into the ground like it was supposed to it lays calmly on top of the soil. Saria kneels down to Nydia and places a hand on her shoulder. SARIA Nydia? Is everything all right? With a sad expression on her face, Nydia turns to the villagers. CUT TO: CLOSE-UPS Of different villagers. Nydia looks over to Link who in turn looks up to Saria. She has no answers for him. All she can do is stare up at the Great Deku Tree. He leaves the crowd for his tree house. Saria watches him then follows. CUT TO: INT. KOKIRI FOREST - TREE HOUSE - CONTINUOUS Link sits huddled in the corner by his bed. Saria leans on the door frame looking down on him. SARIA You don't have to do anything you don't want to do, you know? LINK I know. Silence. SARIA This is wrong. It's wrong to ask a child to do something like this. I don't care who she thinks you are it's still wrong. More silence. Then: LINK But this village is bigger than you and me. And whether or not I am the - one Nydia talked about... I'm still the only one who can do anything it. Right? She thinks about this for a second then sits down next to him. SARIA You're a pretty smart kid. You know that? He rests his head on her shoulder. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - DAY MONTAGE LINK Searches among the grass picking up various sticks and examining them. Saria watches from afar curious to what he's doing. CUT TO: CLOSE UP Of a sharp stone as it scrapes at a thick piece of wood. A hand holds the stick up. It is Link fashioning some semblance of a weapon for himself. CUT TO: LOST WOODS - DAY Link practices different sword techniques against a thick tree with his newly fashioned wooden sword. The moves seem to come to him naturally, almost instinctively. Hiding behind a tree in the distance Saria continues to spy on Link, quietly impressed with his growing skill. The sound of a wolf howling in the distance startles Link a bit. He stops his training and waits. When the anxiety passes he resumes a stance and continues. CUT TO: LOST WOODS - LATER Saria leads Link to the spot of his mother's grave. She leads him to a tree with a symbol carved into it. She stands a bit away as Link kneels down to the ground before the tree. He pulls out some flowers he picked and rests it across the dirt. He gets up and joins Saria. They both continue to stare down at the spot as we CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - DAY The villagers are gathered on the pathway that leads out of the forest and into the Fields of Hyrule. Link is in the center saying his last good-byes to Nydia. She hands him a letter. NYDIA I suggest you go to Hyrule Castle first and talk to the Princess. Take this with you. She hands him the satchel that Impa gave to her earlier. LINK What is it? Link opens the satchel and pulls out a small triangular object. NYDIA The Princess will know. Good luck, young Link. She blends back into the crowd as Mido walks up to Link with a small blanket in his hand. He pulls the blanket open revealing a sheathed short sword and a shield. MIDO This is for you. LINK Wow. Where did you find this? MIDO It's an heirloom from the Battle of Fallen Leaves fought here hundreds of years ago. MIDO'S MOTHER We Kokiri have kept it in remembrance of those who fought and died to protect our home. LINK Thank you. Link pulls out his wooden sword and hands it to Mido. He takes the new one and swings it around a few times. The people closest to Link back off a bit so as not to get hit. MIDO Just don't screw up, you hear? MIDO'S MOTHER Mido! He grabs the boy's collar and drags him back in with the rest of the crowd. Saria is the last to say goodbye. SARIA I knew you'd leave the forest someday. I just never wanted to believe it. Don't forget to come back and visit. LINK I won't. He kisses her forehead then turns and sets off down the path waving goodbye to his fellow villagers. |

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
EXT. HYRULE FIELDS - DAY
Link pushes his way through the thick forest trees and out into the open air where he gets his first look of Hyrule Field. A vast meadow with glorious hills and blooming trees. Link walks out of the forest and takes in the field's beauty. He pulls out a small, makeshift map and a compass. INSERT On the map. The words "Hyrule Castle" are written near the top. Near the bottom right hand side are the words "Kokiri Forest." BACK TO SCENE Link does a compass check then heads off in the direction of Hyrule. Castle. DISSOLVE TO: HYRULE FIELDS - LATER The hours have passed quickly and now it is almost dark. The sun, although set, still lets out rays of red light from below the horizon. Link walks up to a tree and puts his stuff underneath it. He yawns and stretches a bit before setting up his resting place. He lays out a blanket and a small pillow on the ground. He rests his shield and sword next to the tree and is about to get under the covers when he hears a howl in the distance. He pulls his sword out and walks away from the tree to investigate. Behind him a monster, known as a STALCHILD, pops out from the ground and begins wobbling around the tree. It can only be described as a walking skeleton with an abnormally large skull. Link is unaware of its presence. The Stalchild wanders around the tree a bit and then begins moving toward Link. Finding nothing from his investigation, Link turns around to find the Stalchild no more than two feet away from him. Without thinking he swings his sword cutting off the Stalchild's head. Link stumbles to the ground. The Stalchild continues to wander around like a wind-up doll with its head cut off. Link gets to his feet. He moves over to his things and grabs his shield. The Stalchild begins to move toward Link again. It takes a swing with his hand, which Link dodges easily. Link then swings his sword and cuts the Stalchild in two. The remaining pieces of the Stalchild fall to the ground in a lifeless heap. Link inspects the pieces of bone that lie on the floor with his sword. He sees the skull and kicks it away. In the distance the sound of a young girl screaming is heard. It catches Links attention and he runs toward it. As Link gets closer we see a young red-headed girl named MALON, 13, desperately fighting off several Stalchildren with a large stick. She lunges at one of the Stalchildren and knocks it to the floor. MALON Get away! Help me! Somebody help! Link runs to her aid with sword in hand. He approaches the first Stalchild from behind and chops it in two. The rest of the Stalchildren turn their attention to Link, as does Malon. She watches in astonishment. Another Stalchild appears behind Malon. She turns just in time to swing her stick at it knocking it away. As he fights off the Stalchildren: LINK (to Malon) Get in the tree! Malon looks up at the nearby tree and runs towards it. She drops her stick and climbs the branches. Link continues to fight off the Stalchildren, but more and more of them pop up from the ground. Suddenly, in the b.g. a sound can be heard. Link and the Stalchildren turn to the new threat. CUT TO: CLOSE UP Of a horses hind legs as they kick the head off of one of the Stalchildren. BACK TO SCENE Link is knocked back a bit by the sudden disappearance of one of the Stalchildren. The unknown horse's front legs demolish another Stalchild and another. The young horse, EPONA, takes on the attacking Stalchildren easily kicking out her hind legs to counter their attacks. Soon all there is left is a pile of bones. Malon, upon seeing the arrival of Epona, immediately begins climbing down from her tree in a rush of excitement. MALON Epona! She runs up to the small horse and wraps her arms around its neck hugging it lovingly. MALON (to Link) Thanks for coming to save me. LINK Are you all right? MALON I'm fine. Thank you. My name's Malon. LINK I'm Link. MALON Hello, Link. This here is Epona. Say 'Hi' girl. LINK She's very pretty. What is she? MALON (smiling) Haven't you seen a horse before? LINK Oh, well yeah, just never one this close. MALON We were walking back home when something spooked her and she ran off. I went looking for her when these things came out and attacked me. Where did you learn to fight like that? LINK At my... this village in the Forest. MALON You're a forest child? I thought you looked different. But won't you die or something? Being away from your home? LINK I'm not a forest child. I just lived there for a while. MALON Oh.Well, thanks again, Link. I wish there was some way I could repay you. LINK That's ok. MALON I know! She reaches behind her neck and takes off a small necklace LINK It's ok. Really. Putting the necklace around his neck: MALON Take it. It belonged to my Mother. She told me to give it to the man I was going to marry. LINK Marry? What? MALON Yeah. Everyone's getting married nowadays. Didn't you know? Besides, it's not like we're going to do it tomorrow or anything. Unless you want to. Malon smiles as she fastens the necklace around his neck. She notices a small cut on his forehead. MALON You've been hurt. LINK I'll be fine. MALON Nonsense! I can't have the man I'm going to marry all battered up. C'mon. She takes his hand and begins to pull him in the direction of Epona. LINK Where are we going? MALON To my ranch. My dad owns a horse stable called Lon Lon Ranch. (pointing) It's that way. I can clean you up there. LINK Thanks, but I really should be going. I have to get to the castle. MALON If you're going to the castle it'll take a whole day on foot to get there. And my ranch is on the way. You could sleep there and my dad can take you in the morning. It'll be quicker. LINK I don't know... MALON Would you rather be sleeping in a tree or in a nice warm bed? He thinks about this for a second. LINK Ok. Her eyes light up. MALON Great! (to Epona) C'mon, girl. Let's go. Epona gallops over to Malon and soon they are off down the meadow. CUT TO: WIDE SHOT Of Hyrule Fields. Link and Malon are seen as specks on the horizon as they walk across the field. Dusk is slowly turning into night as they near Lon Lon Ranch. CUT TO: INT. LON LON RANCH - NIGHT The ranch is moderately large with small groups of animals such as chickens, horses and cows littering its plain or asleep in the grass. Malon, followed by Epona and Link, enter Lon Lon Ranch. She lightly smacks Epona's rear sending her running. MALON Daddy? Where are you daddy? They go out to the horse stables and see a figure resting next to one of the horses. This is Malon's father, TALON, a burly middle aged man with a gruff demeamor. Malon motions for Link to stay quiet. MALON (to Link; whispering) My dad falls asleep sometimes when he's working. It's not because he's lazy or anything. He works really hard. Too hard sometimes. Once I found him asleep while in the middle of milking a cow. She laughs then puts her finger to her mouth indicating the universal "shush" sign. She slowly creeps up behind Talon and as she is about to jolt her father out of his peaceful sleep Talon suddenly awakes screaming scaring Malon half to death. Talon begins to laugh hysterically. MALON That wasn't funny. TALON Oh, but it would have been funny for you to scare me? MALON Yes. Talon laughs some more before he notices Link. TALON Who's this? MALON Oh! Daddy this is Link. TALON Hello Link. I'm Talon. MALON He saved my life from the Stalchildren on the fields. TALON What were you doing out there all alone? I've told you it's too dangerous to be on the fields at night. MALON I know Daddy. But Epona ran off and I couldn't just leave her. Besides I have Linkie-pooh here to protect me from now on. Don't I? LINK (embarrassed) Uh... MALON Dad! Are you going to the Castle tomorrow? TALON Yes I am. MALON Do you think you could take Link here with you? TALON I would be delighted. She jumps up excitedly then grabs Link's hand. MALON Great! C'mon, Link. I wanna show you something. She drags Link into the nearby house. Talon shouts out towards the running couple. TALON Nice to meet you Link! LINK (yelling back) Nice to meet you, too! CUT TO: INT. LON LON RANCH - MALON'S ROOM - NIGHT Malon is on her knees opening a chest while Link hovers behind. She pulls out a red and orange dress and shows it to Link. MALON Here it is. Isn't it beautiful? It belonged to my mother. She died when I was a little girl. Daddy doesn't talk about her very much. I guess it still hurts. I don't really know much about her except for what my dad tells me. I wish I were older so I could be big enough to wear it. You wanna see? She holds the dress out to him. He walks over and touches the fabric. Malon stares at him intensely. MALON I love the fabric. It's so soft. LINK It's very nice. He begins to fold the dress up and put it back in the chest. Malon leans close and then kisses his cheek. This catches Link by surprise. They stare at each other a bit, Malon with a big smile on her face. Link doesn't know what to say or do. He's too stunned to respond. She looks in his eyes expecting to see in them what Link sees in hers, but doesn't. The smile on her face slowly disappears. Her eyes drop down to the floor. MALON I'm sorry. I... I - Link closes the chest. He and Malon are at a loss for words as they share the silence together. CUT TO: INT. LON LON RANCH - DINING ROOM - NIGHT The dining room is simple. We can tell it was hand made with all the nature wood making up the walls. A set of stairs lead up to the second floor. Link and Malon are sitting uncomfortably at the dinner table. Talon comes in with a big jug of milk labeled "Lon Lon Milk". He drops it on the table right in front of Link causing the plates and utensils to vibrate. TALON Now, Link. This is my own special type of milk made right here on my very own ranch from my very own cows. Therefore, I would consider it a great insult if you didn't try at least one sip. He grabs a mug and tilts the jug pouring his milk. He then hands Link the mug. Link takes a sip. TALON So? What do you think? Link takes the mug away to reveal a milk mustache on his top lip. LINK It's very... thick. TALON That it is, my boy. That it is. Talon takes a swig out of his own mug then lets out a satisfied "Ahhh". TALON I don't think I could ever get tired of this stuff. Talon leans in close. TALON You know Link... Malon here is quite the young lady. MALON (embarrassed) Dad! TALON You know, when I'm gone she's going to have this whole ranch to herself. MALON Dad! Please? TALON Don't get me wrong Link. She is a very capable young lady. It's just that she'll be here all alone and I don't want my daughter to be here all alone. Do you know what I mean, son? MALON Dad! Enough! Ok? Talon looks at his daughter and then at Link who is as almost embarrassed as Malon. TALON Well, you can't say I didn't try. He pours some more Lon Lon Milk then brings the mug to his lips. CUT TO: INT. LON LON RANCH - STABLES - NIGHT Link, having created a pile of hay to act as his bedding, pulls out his blanket and rests it on top the makeshift mattress. Epona, who rests a few stalls over from him shimmies as she, too, gets ready for bed. Link starts to pull off his boots when a knock comes to the barn door. He opens the door revealing Malon. MALON Can I come in? LINK Yeah. She enters and immediately makes her way to Epona. She kneels slightly stroking the animals snout. MALON Are you really going to be comfortable out here in the cold? LINK I'm used to it. MALON Because you don't have to sleep out here. I'm sure Daddy can make a bed for you in the house somewhere. LINK I'll be ok. Silence. Malon lightly kisses Epona's head then stands and looks at Link. MALON I'm sorry for earlier. LINK It's fine. Your dad was just trying to be nice. MALON Not that. I mean for... you know. (pause) It's just when I saw you on the fields today I could sense how sad you were. How lonely. I guess it's because I'm lonely too. We don't have too many visitors here. Daddy does most of his work in the market so it's just us two most of the time. (slight pause) Here I am talking your ear off again. I should really learn when not to talk, huh? LINK I don't mind. I enjoying listening to people talk. MALON But you don't talk much yourself, do you? LINK I suppose not. MALON Tell me, Link. Why are you so sad? The question takes Link off-guard. He walks over to his bedding and straightens out his blanket. MALON You don't have to answer if you don't want to. LINK Have you ever felt like you don't belong anywhere? That no matter how much you try to fit in, you'll always be an outcast? Even in your home? MALON No... Is that why you left the forest? LINK I grew up a Kokiri. But I was born a Hylian. And now I don't know who I am anymore. She walks over to him and hugs him close. MALON I am so sorry, Link. I have no idea how hard this must be for you. I don't know why you set off on this journey of yours but I can tell that the path you've chosen is no accident. And if you ever need a helping hand I will be here for you. LINK Thank you. They hold each other a little while longer as we DISSOLVE TO: EXT. LON LON RANCH - DAY Talon is busy packing up the last of his things in his wagon. Link comes out of the stables and meets Malon who is stands just inside the house. Link stops right next to her. MALON Are you going to be okay? LINK Yeah. Thanks again. He extends his hand. She smiles and puts his arms around him instead. MALON You'll come back to visit, right? LINK I will. Oh. I almost forgot. He reaches around his neck to take off the necklace she gave him, but she stops him midway. MALON No. You save it for me, ok? Don't let anything happen to it. He smiles then walks up to Talon who is loading the last of his barrels into the wagon. TALON You set? (Link nods) Ok then, let's go. Link gets in the back of the wagon with all the cans of milk. Talon whips the reigns and the horse begins pulling the wagon. Malon waves from the ranch as the wagon sets off. CUT TO: EXT. HYRULE CASTLE - SAME WIDE SHOT Of Hyrule Castle. It is bigger and taller than when we first saw it with slabs of stone piled so high you could lose them in the sky. Talon rides the wagon onto the drawbridge and through the gate. Link stares up at the huge stone archway as the wagon rides under. CUT TO: INT. HYRULE CASTLE - HYRULE MARKET - SAME The first thing Link notices, as do we, is the vast difference of just how many people there are in the market as opposed to Kokiri Village. As he glances around the market we see people everywhere. People gathered around traveling shops and moving from one place to the other. People in the center of the Town Square talking, laughing, living it up. A DANCING COUPLE waltz around a small fountain and a FAT WOMAN is chasing her chicken around the square. Talon stops his wagon near the resting stop of all the other wagons and gets off. Link gets out and looks around in awe. LINK This place is huge! TALON (laughing) C'mon. I'll show you around. He walks Link over to the East Side of the village and points to a Shop House. TALON If you ever need supplies and stuff you can always go there. That's the Bazaar. The owner's a really nice guy. You can just tell him you know me and he'll give you anything you want at a good price. (pointing to another house) That's the Inn. In case you get tired you could always sleep there. (he points to another shop) And that is the food court. I don't think I have to explain that one. By the way, are you hungry? LINK No thanks. TALON You sure? LINK I'm sure. TALON Ok then. Well, I've got a lot of deliveries to make. It was nice meeting you, Link. You're always welcome at Lon Lon Ranch in case you want to stop by. I'm sure Malon would be glad to see you. LINK Thanks. Uh, Talon? Do you know how I can talk to the Princess? TALON You want to talk to the Princess? Oh, well, I don't know if I could help you there, Link. It's not like I have connections to the Royal Family. He spots a GUARD standing by the gate leading up to the castle. TALON You see that guard? Why don't you go ask him? I'm sure he can help you out. LINK Thanks. Oh and thanks for the ride. TALON Anytime, Link. He walks off back to his wagon as Link heads toward the Guard. LINK Hello. I need to speak with the Princess. Can I do that? The guard rolls his eyes and lets out a long sigh. GATE GUARD (monotonously) Nobody sees the Princess or anyone else of or related to the Royal Family unless commissioned by them personally. Link takes out the letter Nydia gave him. LINK I have a letter - GATE GUARD Is it from the Royal Family? LINK It's to the royal family... GATE GUARD I'm sorry. Only letters from the Royal Family will get you through the Palace Gates. Sorry, kid. Link, putting the letter away, begins to walk away. GUARD Hey, Kid. Link stops and looks back at the Guard. GATE GUARD First of all, you shouldn't give up so quickly. And second, I don't know if you're interested or not but the Princess does make a trip down to the Market Area once every week. LINK When does that happen? The Guards smiles a bit. GATE GUARD You're in luck. She should be down any minute. The sound of trumpets from above the Market entrance fills the courtyard below. GATE GUARD Here she comes right now. Through the gate we see four ROYAL GUARDS, two in front and two behind, walking down the path from the Castle. In the middle are Princess Zelda and Impa. The Gate Guard begins opening the gate to let them pass. Link sees her and is immediately transfixed. He has never seen anyone so beautiful. She goes up to each of the individual shop owners. They bow and kiss her hand. She asks questions like "How are things going in your shop. I trust all is well?" and "Are you enjoying your stay here in the market?" The Princess circles the courtyard slowly making her way over to Link's area. When she sees him she stops almost as if she knows him. Link looks up to the guard. The guard motions for him to get on his knee and he does so clumsily. Zelda approaches. ZELDA Please rise. You are new here, aren't you? LINK Yes I am. ZELDA What is your name? LINK My name is Link. ZELDA Do I... Have we met before? LINK No, I don't think so. ZELDA Of course not. What brings you to the castle, Link? LINK I needed to speak to you. One of Zelda's ROYAL GUARDs is annoyed by this and responds for her. ROYAL GUARD The Princess is too busy to listen to your insignificant requests - ZELDA (sharply) I appreciate your concern, but I don't need you or anyone else to tell me what I think is and is not important. The Royal Guard shuts up quickly. Zelda looks back to Link. ZELDA Come, Link. We'll talk about what you need inside the castle. She walks towards the gate with Impa by her side. Link follows closely behind. The Gate Guard smiles at Link. GATE GUARD (aside to Link) Not bad kid. Link smiles sheepishly. Before the guards close the gate Zelda turns around and addresses the crowd one last time. ZELDA Good day ladies and gentleman. I hope that your stay here in Hyrule is a pleasant one. The Market people clap politely. The Guard closes the gate as Zelda and the others walk the long path back to the castle. |

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
INT. HYRULE CASTLE - COURTYARD - DAY
Zelda stomps into the courtyard, stops then takes off her shoes. Two of the Royal Guards leave while the other two take their posts next to the entrance of the courtyard. ZELDA Okay, Impa. You know I enjoy meeting the people and all, but if I'm going to keep doing this can't I at least get some more comfortable shoes? IMPA I'll see what I can do. Zelda takes her place in the throne and looks down at Link. Impa stands next to her. Link begins to kneel. ZELDA (giggling) You don't have to kneel. That's only when I'm in public. When we're alone you can just act casually. Link gets back to his feet. ZELDA Where did you say you were from? LINK The Kokiri Forest. ZELDA Oh! So you must know Nydia? LINK Yes, she's the one who sent me. She gave me a letter to give to you. He takes out Nydia's letter and hands it to Zelda. She opens it and begins reading. As she does her expression changes. She looks up at Impa and hands her the letter. Impa's face also changes. Link stares at them both unsure of what's going on. LINK Is there something wrong? ZELDA Did you read this letter? He shakes his head no. ZELDA Link, did Nydia give you anything before you left? LINK Just this. He pulls out the satchel given to him by Nydia and hands it over to Zelda. She takes it and pulls out the Silver Key of Zora then looks over to Impa as if the key has confirmed her suspicions. Zelda places the key pack in the satchel and looks to Link sternly. ZELDA Link, what I'm about to tell you is very important and must be kept completely secret. Do you understand? He nods yes. She looks behind him to the two Royal Guards standing post by the entrance. ZELDA May we be alone please? The two guards comply and move to the other side of the entrance. ZELDA (to Link) Do you know of a man that goes by the name Ganondorf? Again, he shakes his head no. ZELDA He is a close advisor to my father the King and is also the leader of the Gerudo Clan. He has served under my father for only a few short months, but in that time I have become aware of his growing interest of the ancient books in our libraries. IMPA You see, Link, many of the books in our library talk about the three keys needed to gain access to the Triforce. One of these is the Silver Key of Zora. ZELDA The key Nydia entrusted you to bring back to us. IMPA This key is the link necessary in gaining the other two keys to the Triforce. ZELDA If it were to be lost - IMPA - Or fall into the wrong hands - ZELDA - All hope for our land would be lost. LINK Then why don't you just get the Triforce first before anyone else does? IMPA It's not that simple, Link. ZELDA The Silver Key of Zora only leads to the second key, the Medallion of Time. With that we can open the Door of Time and gain the final key, the Master Sword. IMPA Once the sword is pulled the door to the Sacred Realm will open allowing any and all access to the Triforce. ZELDA Link, the man that visited your village, the one Nydia speaks of in her letter, that man was Ganondorf. LINK Ganon - INSERT Of Ganondorf in Kokiri as he glances over at Link. BACK TO SCENE LINK - Dorf. ZELDA Despite our best efforts to stop Ganondorf's plans we have been unsuccessful. If Ganondorf were to get the Triforce he could conquer all of Hyrule in one fell swoop. LINK Nydia told me that she thought I was the only one who could stop the misuse of power. You must be thinking the same thing. IMPA No one is forcing you, Link. If I could complete this quest on my own I would. But I cannot. Doing so would leave the Princess exposed to danger and I will not let that happen at any cost. Zelda gets up and walks right up to him looking him straight in the eye. ZELDA Once, I had a dream of a boy who came from the forest to save Hyrule from destruction. When I told my father he didn't believe me. But now that I see you here I am filled with hope that not all is lost. It's up to us now, Link. The only way to stop Ganondorf is to get the Triforce before he does. Will you help us? He looks deep in her eyes. LINK What do I have to do? She smiles and looks back at Impa. ZELDA Impa will lead you to the hiding place of the next key, the Medallion of Time. (to Link) Thank you. You don't know how much you have helped us by doing this. She hugs him closely and he hugs back. The hug lingers for a moment before both of them realize it. They break the embrace and Zelda walks back to her throne. IMPA Come, Link. Impa leads Link out of the courtyard and into the castle grounds. CUT TO: INT. HYRULE CASTLE - STABLES - DAY Link is lagging behind Impa who is leading him to the horse stables. She walks up to a beautiful white horse and prepares it for riding. IMPA The Princess is right. We are very lucky to have someone like you. I admire your courage. Especially for being so young. You must be very excited. LINK (unenthusiastic) Yeah. Impa looks down at Link and sees him nervously rubbing his hands together. IMPA Are you okay? LINK Uh-huh. IMPA Are you sure you'll be able to go through with this? LINK I have to. IMPA Why? LINK That man, the one the Princess talked about. When he came to our village he - did something. Cursed it, I think. I'm their only hope. IMPA But why send you? You're just a child. LINK The same reason you and the Princess are sending me to get your medallion. Because you think I'm special. IMPA Do you think you are special, Link? Pause. LINK I just don't want my sister to die. She pulls the last straps on the horse's saddle. IMPA I know what you need. He looks up at her curiously. CUT TO: EXT. HYRULE FIELDS - DAY The fields are quiet and peaceful with a few birds chirping in the distance. Suddenly the sound of galloping hooves can be heard tearing up the grass. A white horse is seen with two people riding it. Impa holds onto the reigns as Link desperately clings to Impa from behind. The horse approaches a fenced in farmhouse. Impa heads straight for it jumping the fence and scaring some of the chickens it was keeping inside. LINK (screaming) Yahoo! An ANGRY FARMER runs out of his house and begins yelling at Impa. ANGRY FARMER Hey! What do you think you're doing jumping around all over the place? Are you crazy! Link looks back at the Angry Farmer who gets smaller and smaller on the horizon. LINK I think we made him happy. She smirks as they continue downward toward a distant town. CUT TO: INT. KAKARIKO VILLAGE - DAY Kakariko is a small village roughly a third of the size of Hyrule Market. But instead of traveling shops and small stores we see instead houses. There are a few people in the town; some construction workers are busy building another house. In the b.g. a tall mountain looms over the village. A small gathering of clouds in the shape of a halo circles its peak. This is Death Mountain. IMPA Welcome to Kakariko, Link. LINK It's nice. IMPA In the ancient tongue, Kakariko means friendship. It was established long ago by a special group of Hylians called the Sheikah. LINK Sheikah? IMPA It means Shadow People. Do not let the name fool you, though. The Sheikah were a peaceful people always seeking the ways of enlightenment and peace. LINK Are you a Sheikah? IMPA Yes. This is my town. I was born here. They continue on through the village. Impa says "Hi" to her fellow villagers as they pass her. She then points up to Death Mountain. IMPA Do you see that mountain, Link? That is Death Mountain. The ring of clouds that surround it tells us the condition of the land. If Hyrule is in peace then the clouds are normal. LINK Are we going all the way up there? IMPA No. My ride ends here. She leads the horse up to a closed gate blocking the way to a dirt path. A BORED GUARD quietly stands by his post lightly hunched over. When he sees Impa he immediately straightens his posture and opens the gate. IMPA This path will lead you to the Goron's cavern. I suggest you rest before entering. You will need all your strength. I'm sorry I can not take you further, but my place is by the Princess' side. She looks at Link and sees he's again trying to build up the courage to go on. IMPA Remember: there are no heroes or cowards in this world, Link. Only people who think they are. You'll do fine. I trust you know the way back. And if not you can always ask the Guard stationed here. The Princess is counting on you. Good luck. She shimmies the horse around and begins the long trek home. Link looks up the trail that lies ahead and takes his first steps up the mountain. CUT TO: EXT. GERUDO FORTRESS - DAY Ganondorf and two GERUDO CLANSMAN ride through the desert until they reach the Gerudo Fortress. It rests on the edge of the desert and is a village made completely of stone. Ganondorf and his two Guards ride into the fortress and up to the horse stables. Ganondorf gets off his horse and hands the reigns over to one of the clansman who leads the horse away. Nabooru comes out of one of the stone huts and sees Ganondorf entering his own hut. She quickly makes his way over to his hut. |

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
EXT. GERUDO FORTRESS - DAY
Ganondorf and two GERUDO CLANSMAN ride through the desert until they reach the Gerudo Fortress. CUT TO: INT. GERUDO FORTRESS - GANONDORF'S HUT - CONTINUOUS Much like the fortress itself, most of Ganondorf's hut is cut from red stone and is not much bigger than Nydia's hut. It is simply furnished with a cot on one end and a small shelf cluttered with books and gadgets. Ganondorf takes a pot and dips it into a small water hole located at the back of the hut. He spills the water over his neck and face. Nabooru enters the hut. He turns back a bit, barely acknowledging her presence. NABOORU Well? GANONDORF I have searched all over. The key is nowhere to be found. NABOORU How long do you intend to search for this key? GANONDORF As long as I have to. NABOORU So, you intend on letting our people die as you roam the countryside searching for ancient relics. GANONDORF I'm doing this for my people. NABOORU And where has it gotten you? Nowhere. GANONDORF What do you want from me? NABOORU I want you to be a man for once and fight. Ganondorf is shocked into silence. GANONDORF You want me to start a war so that more of our people can die? NABOORU Look at those faces out there. Do you really think any of them wouldn't gladly sacrifice their lives if it meant a better future? (pause) Don't disappoint me now by being weak. He looks up at her towering over him. His face turns to stone as he stands and walks out of the hut. CUT TO: EXT. GERUDO FORTRESS - CONTINUOUS Ganondorf, followed soon after by Nabooru, exits his hut and waves up to a Clansman high up in a bell tower. The TOWER CLANSMAN begins ringing the bell and soon all of the Gerudo are out of their huts and gathered in the center of the fortress around Ganondorf. GANONDORF Fellow clansman. For years now, the Hylians have lived peacefully in their warm houses and slept safely in their beds while we, the noble people of the Gerudo, were banished out here to starve and to die. Even the King himself refuses to help us. Well, I tell you now, the King has pulled the final string in his own demise. No longer will I allow you, my people, to die while the King sits comfortably in his throne with no concern for our poverty and starvation. We will rise up against those who have held us down and banished us to this barren wasteland. Now, I say. Now is the time we take what is owed to us! Are you with me? The Gerudo cheer loudly for their leader. GANONDORF Are you with me? They cheer louder rocking the very foundation to its core. GANONDORF Then ready your weapons brothers! Tomorrow we claim Hyrule for the Gerudo! The Gerudo cheer louder than ever now. Ganondorf spots Nabooru in the crowd, a look of determination on her face. Ganondorf slightly nods. CUT TO INT. GORON'S CAVERN - CIRCULAR ROOM - NIGHT Link stands in a large cave with high ceilings. He checks inspects the cavern carefully making sure there is nothing there. He walks through another door as we CUT TO: ANOTHER CIRCULAR ROOM - CONTINUOUS Link is more careful in inspecting this room. And again there is nothing. He walks through the next door a little disappointed as we CUT TO: YET ANOTHER CIRCULAR ROOM - CONTINUOUS When Link enters he gives the room a once over and finds nothing in his immediate gaze. LINK (disappointed) Geez. If this medallion thing was so important why don't they protect it better? As if on cue a KEESE, a blue bat-like creature, swoops down from the ceiling doing a dive-bomb technique straight for Link's head. Link turns around just in time to see the Keese and swings blindly at it. He holds up his shield to protect himself from the wild animal. When doesn't feel the impact he takes the shield away. He looks down and there next to his feet lying in two pieces is the dead Keese. The gory sight of the Keese disgusts him. In the b.g. the sounds of many flapping wings can be heard. Link turns to see a swarm of Keese flying straight at him like wild banshees. Link ducks their oncoming attack as they swoop past him. They circle just above his head pinning him to the ground. Link covers the top of his head with his shield as the Keese take turns swooping down from above. Link peers out from beneath the shield to the opposite side of the room where his salvation lies: a plain wooden door. He makes a break for the door holding his shield above of him. He gets through the door and into CUT TO: DOME ROOM - CONTINUOUS Link slams the door shut behind him then leans back onto it panting heavily. He takes in his surroundings and begins canvassing the room. Hanging above Link, although he is totally unaware of them, are four pouch- like cocoons. Link sees another door and makes his way towards it. The four pouches on the ceiling shake and convulse until they pop sending down four TEKTITES completely surrounding Link. They are a cross between a three-foot tall spider and a crab with four legs. Link readies his sword and shield. One of the Tektites leaps towards Link who quickly rolls underneath just missing its razor sharp claws. Another Tektite leaps at Link. He runs underneath it slashing the underbelly of the creature. It falls in pain behind him and soon dies. Two of the three remaining Tektites scream and leap towards Link from either side of him. Link sidesteps allowing them to hit each other instead. They fall to the floor dazed. The third Tektite sneaks up behind Link and leaps. Link spins and blocks the Tektites claws with his shield, but the weight of the monster causes him to lose his balance. They fall to the floor, the Tektite on top. Link, desperately trying to hold onto the shield, curls his legs up then places the bottom of his feet flat up against the back of the shield. He thrusts his legs outward sending the shield and the Tektite flying back. The other two Tektites recover from their dizziness and set their sights on Link. He sees them and gets ready for the attack. The third Tektite has also recovered and is making his way towards Link as well. Link hunches over almost in a kneeling position his sword extended so that the blade is sticking out and behind him. The three Tektites jump until they are only a few feet away when he lets out his attack. A spinning attack to be more precise. He swings with great strength and energy into a full 360-degree turn hitting each of the Tektites with a powerful blow. They're all sliced in half and soon die. Link, breathing heavily, walks over to his shield and places it on his back. CUT TO: SQUARE ROOM - CONTINUOUS The first minute Link enters the room he looks up at the ceiling to make sure nothing is hanging from it. Sure enough there isn't. At the other end of the room we see a huge door almost fifteen feet high made of metal. In the middle of the door is an indentation in the shape of triangle. Link takes a few steps forward right onto a pressure plate. A loud creaking noise from behind startles him. A set of bars has blocked his exit from the room. He looks at his feet noticing the pressure plate. There's nothing he can do so he continues on. He walks up to the metal doors and tries pushing with all his might but the door won't budge. Out of the corner of his eye he notices the adjacent wall and sees a few metal bars guarding a small lever. Examining the bars he tries to force them apart then attempts to squeeze through them and grab the lever but he is too big. He gives up only to find himself stuck. As he struggles to free himself the dirt in the opposite side of the room begins to shake. Link's attention is drawn to that part of the room where a second later a STALFOS pops out from the ground. It is a seven-foot tall walking skeleton complete with sword, shield and armor. Link's struggle with the gate becomes more desperate. The Stalfos is right on top of him as it raises its sword high in the air. It swings just as Link frees himself. Instead of hitting Link the Stalfos' sword strikes the bars. Link gets a little distance between him and the Stalfos. The Stalfos charges Link who quickly puts up his shield and blocks it's attack. The Stalfos again swings hitting Link's shield knocking him back onto his butt. Link jumps to his feet. The Stalfos takes a few steps back then jumps into the air with its sword shining deadly above it. Link dodges as the Stalfos lands then lunges at the side of the Stalfos's bonny structure. But the Stalfos is fast. Right before Link's sword hits the Stalfos knocks it away causing Link to lose his balance. The two circle around each other moving closer and closer. Before he realizes it the Stalfos has blocked Link into a corner of the room. Link sees an opening between the monster's legs. He rolls between them, turns and swings his sword hitting it dead on the back. The Stalfos screams in pain. It turns, makes a few defensive swings to keep Link away. Soon it is back into attack position. This time it does a horizontal swing for Link's head. Link ducks just barely then swings his sword at the Stalfos's arm wounding it again, this time more severely. He lunges into the ribs of the Stalfos and jerks his arm away. A huge chunk of the Stalfos' ribs goes flying off its body. It screams in pain. Link swings his sword cutting the Stalfos in half at the waist. The Stalfos falls to pieces on the ground. Link walks up to the Stalfos it's one arm twitching slightly towards the nearby sword. Link kicks the sword away then chops its head off. He falls to the floor sweaty and exhausted. We hear the sound of creaking metal in the b.g. He turns his head just in time to see the gate that once guarded the lever move down. There is an awkward silence. Link looks curiously at the remains of the Stalfos then gets up and walks wearily over to the lever and pulls it down. But, instead of the metal door opening, the bars locking the door Link previously walked in from go down allowing him to exit. Link is at a total loss for ideas when his hand brushes across the satchel strapped to his side. He pulls out the key from the pouch and walks over to the metal door. His eyes fall on the keyhole for the first time, his free hand slightly brushing across it. He holds the key up to the keyhole and as soon as it gets to within a few inches of the door it jumps out of his hand and into the keyhole like a magnet. The metal door comes to life as a low rumbling begins to shake throughout the entire room as the doors slowly part. When the opening is wide enough Link makes his way into the CUT TO: MEDALLION ROOM - CONTINUOUS The Medallion room is unlike any other room we've seen in the cavern. Whereas the others seemed to be naturally carved out of the Mountain itself this room seems to be more man-made. There are two well-formed pillars on either side of the room. The walls are carved with intricate designs of Hylian history. At the far end of the room is an altar with the symbol of the Triforce etched onto the front of it. Floating just above the altar is the Medallion of Time a beautifully glowing medallion with the symbol of the Triforce engraved on one side. Link walks up to it mystified stopping right in front of the altar. As he reaches out for the Medallion it begins to glow even brighter. CUT TO: INT. HYRULE CASTLE - GUARD TOWER - DAY The sun is near setting. Ganondorf and his two Guards can be seen on the Hyrule Fields riding towards the castle. The TOWER GUARD on lookout sees Ganondorf and yells down to the DRAWBRIDGE GUARDS. TOWER GUARD Lower the drawbridge! The King's advisor arrives! CUT TO: DRAWBRIDGE ENTRANCE - CONTINUOUS The two Guards lower the drawbridge. Ganondorf and his two men ride into the castle and stop right in front of the two guards. The Tower Guard is unable to see anything below. DRAWBRIDGE GUARD Should we notify the King of your arrival, Lord Ganondorf? GANONDORF Don't bother. Ganondorf pulls out his sword and swings at the Guard's head. Right before it slices through we CUT TO: GUARD TOWER - CONTINUOUS The Tower Guard looks off in the distance where the plains touch the horizon. The Guard takes a closer look and sees hundreds upon hundreds of Gerudo Clansman on horses riding toward the castle. Again he yells below. TOWER GUARD The Gerudo are attacking the castle! Raise the drawbridge. He looks down just in time to see Ganondorf's two men looking up at him with crossbows in hand. They fire and two arrows hit the Guard right in the chest. He falls back into the tower dead. CUT TO: HYRULE FIELDS - CONTINUOUS The Gerudo forces race wildly towards the castle. CUT TO: HYRULE MARKET - CONTINUOUS Ganondorf leads his clansmen into the market where fifteen or so Royal Guards wait greatly outnumbered. The Gerudo on their horses show no fear as they charge the Guards. Then, the sound of swords clashing as we CUT TO: INT. HYRULE CASTLE - THRONE ROOM - NIGHT Ganondorf, along with Nabooru and some Gerudo Guards, burst into the Throne Room where the King stands up from his Throne defiantly. His personal advisors stand by his side ready to protect him. KING Sir Ganondorf? Why have you attacked us? We have done nothing. GANONDORF Wrong again your highness. The minute you and your so-called 'Noblemen' denied my people the very right to live you sealed your own fate. KING You'll never be able to hold the castle. No matter what you do to me. My people as one are still stronger than your army. GANONDORF Is that what you think? Then you truly are a man to be pitied. Ganondorf walks away from the King and takes his place at the King's throne. GANONDORF Where is your daughter, your Majesty? KING (worried) What do you want with the Princess? An evil smile falls on his face. GANONDORF She has something I want. CUT TO: EXT. HYRULE CASTLE - STABLES - SAME A pair of GERUDO HORSEMEN ride past a dark alley on their way to the castle. A second passes and then two dark figures come out of the alley and move towards the stables. One of the figures is cloaked in a robe covering them from head to toe. The other person is obviously Impa, who has on her back a quiver of arrows to accompany the bow in her hand. They run urgently to Impa's white horse. Impa hurriedly readies the horse when a CLANSMAN appears from behind brandishing a rather dangerous looking sword. CLANSMAN Halt there and turn around! Impa pauses at the sound of the threat then turns quickly, pulls an arrow from the quiver and before we know it has fired it at the Clansman. It pierces his chest and he falls to the floor dead. Impa turns her attention to the CLOAKED FIGURE and helps her onto the horse. From a distance more CLANSMEN can be seen. They see Impa and the Cloaked Figure trying to make a getaway. CLANSMAN #1 You there! Halt! Impa puts one of her feet into the horse's stirrup and then throws her other leg over the horse itself. She then aims her bow in the direction of the approaching threat and fires a couple of arrows scoring a few fatal shots. She kicks her heel into the horse's side and the fugitives are off. CUT TO: INT. HYRULE CASTLE - THRONE ROOM - SAME One of the CLANSMAN that spotted Impa and the cloaked figure escaping rushes into the throne room where Ganondorf is seen still sitting in the throne. CLANSMAN #2 My lord! We've found them! GANONDORF (standing) Where? CUT TO: EXT. HYRULE FIELDS - NIGHT It is pouring rain on the fields and Link is caught in the middle of it. He holds his shield above his head to keep from getting wet as best as possible. As he nears the castle he is aware of smoke coming out from the center of the market area. He slows to a walk as he nears the drawbridge then stops right in front of the castle looking up at the ruins. POV of Link We see coming from the market area a white horse with a rider on it. As it gets closer we recognize the rider as Impa. Sitting in front of her is Princess Zelda covered entirely in a dark brown cloak. Link moves out of the way of the racing horse as it speeds past him. Zelda looks back from atop the steed to see Link getting smaller and smaller. The horse continues past him riding further and further until it disappears entirely from view. Link just stands there wondering what it is exactly he missed out on when he hears the snort of a horse from behind him. He turns to see sitting on a tall black stallion is Ganondorf. Ganondorf sits there on his horse looking out towards the plains. Then his eyes fall on Link. Link is able to control his fear. GANONDORF You. Boy. Did you see a white horse pass by here? Link stands there unable to answer. GANONDORF Speak up! Instead of jumping at his order Link grows defiant. He takes a step back. Ganondorf smiles, a dark evil smile. GANONDORF I like you kid. You've got guts. Link pulls his sword out and readies his shield. The smile on Ganondorf's face vanishes. Ganondorf sits there on his steed. Then, he sends his foot flying through the air. It lands right on Link's jaw sending him tumbling into the mud. Ganondorf kicks his horse with his spurs and is off. Link gets to his feet wiping the mud from his clothes. |

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
INT. SACRED REALM - CHAMBER OF SAGES - TIMELESS
POV of Link We see nothing but darkness. The voice of a young man, SHEIK, can be heard. SHEIK (O.S.) Link? Wake up, Link. The screen begins to flicker to life as if someone were opening their eyelids. CUT TO: CLOSE UP Of Sheik. He is clothed in the traditional Sheikah blue and white garb similar to Impa's. Added to that he also wears a white hood and mask that covers the lower part of his face. He is about 21 and has piercing red eyes. SHEIK Wake up and look at yourself. CUT TO: EXTREME CLOSEUP Of Link's eyes. We get a sense as we look at them that they are older, more mature. We PULL BACK to reveal that Link has aged seven years. The little boy whose shield was once too big and sword too heavy has now grown into full adulthood. His clothes have changed also. The clothes are similar to his Kokiri tunic except they are sized to fit him and are red. Wrapped around his chest is a thin, but strong red and silver platemail. There is also more armor to cover his shoulders and legs. He looks at himself strangely not fully aware that he's all grown up now. We get our first look of the Chamber of Sages as well. Link is seen standing on a similar platform to the one in the Master Sword room only this one hovers in midair over a bottomless pit. Raindrops of blue light fall all around the Chamber. We see Sheik standing on one of three platform circles hovering just outside the main platform. LINK (flustered) What's happening? SHEIK Calm down Link. LINK (growing agitation) Where am I? SHEIK You are in the Chamber of Sages, a holy place built within the Sacred Realm. LINK What happened to my clothes? My weapons? SHEIK The tasks that lie ahead of you are very difficult and seeing as you've grown some over the years your old weapons are of no use to you now. So I took the liberty of getting you new clothes and armor as well as a stronger shield. LINK How long have I been here? SHEIK (gently) Seven years. Link's face drops and his eyes fall to the floor. LINK The Triforce? SHEIK When you opened the door to the Sacred Realm it allowed any and all to enter. When you did not retrieve the Triforce, Ganondorf seized the opportunity and got it. LINK So I did all of that for nothing? SHEIK The sword you pulled may open the door to the Sacred Realm, but it cannot be pulled by just anyone. Only one worthy of the title Hero of Time can wield it. Yet, when you pulled the sword you were too young to take on the responsibility this title offered. Thus, it sealed your soul away in the Sacred Realm until you were, allowing Ganondorf to take the Triforce. When he did, it turned the Sacred Realm into a place of evil. This Chamber is the only thing left that has not been touched by that evil. I am its protector. LINK Who are you? SHEIK I am Sheik the awakening voice from the Sacred Realm sent to call upon those destined to be Sages. Those sages along with the Hero of Time will bind the evil known as Ganondorf and return the light of peace to Hyrule. Your job to fulfill your destiny as Hero of Time is to find and release these sages from Ganondorf's imprisonment. LINK What for? I failed. I couldn't help the princess. I couldn't help my sister. I couldn't do anything! I'm useless! I can't do anything right! A gloved hand slaps Link across the face. Sheik is standing right in front of him and doesn't appear to have a very consoling look in his eyes. Link is stunned as he rubs his sore cheek. SHEIK What's done is done. So stop blaming yourself for everything. No one foresaw this. Not ev - not even me. (pause) So stop feeling sorry for yourself. We can still make things right. LINK (standing) I'm sorry. SHEIK Don't be sorry. We can still do something about this if we act fast. LINK By finding the three sages. SHEIK Correct. The first sage lies in Kakariko Village. Her name is Impa. Call upon her and she will tell you who the second sage is. LINK Wait a minute. What about the Princess? Is she all right? Sheik takes a deep sigh then lets it out. SHEIK The Princess is fine. But your task is to look for the three sages. Not for the Princess. Go. LINK But - Before he can protest his body begins to change into a green swirl of light. The swirl then heads up and away from Sheik. Sheik's eyes follow it out of the chamber. CUT TO: INT. TEMPLE OF TIME - MASTER SWORD ROOM - NIGHT The green swirl of light enters the sword room and takes its place by the altar where young Link first pulled the sword. The swirl changes back into Link as an adult. The metamorphosis concludes leaving us with a very bewildered looking Link. He reaches behind him and pulls both the Master Sword and the new shield from off his back and inspects them. He does a few practice swings with the sword to get the feel of it then looks at his new shield. It is a beautiful red shield with a polished mirror on the front and a symbol of the Triforce engraved in it. Link replaces his weapons and walks out of the Master Sword Room. CUT TO: ALTAR ROOM - CONTINUOUS Link finds himself back in the altar room where the Medallion of Time is still, even after seven years, rotating above the altar. CUT TO: EXT. TEMPLE OF TIME - NIGHT Link walks out of the Temple and back down the path Zelda had shown him seven years earlier. He rustles with some of the trees coming out the other side. CUT TO: INT. HYRULE CASTLE - HYRULE MARKET - SAME We are in the middle of what used to be Hyrule Market. Now it is a dump. Barely any buildings are left standing anymore. Spread out across the once beautiful courtyard are five soft looking mounds of what at first glance appear to be dirt. Link walks up to one of the mounds and inspects it. The mound begins to move and Link jumps away in fright running back into the trees for cover. The mound of dirt that Link was inspecting isn't a mound of dirt at all. It is in fact a zombie, or RE-DEAD, of one of the people that used to inhabit the Market. The re-dead gets to its feet and begins slowly walking around the market. Link takes in a deep breath and pulls out his sword. He runs out into the Market and up to the re-dead he awoke. And with one swoop chops the re- dead in two. The other four re-deads around the market stand up then slowly begin to shuffle their way towards Link. Link runs up to each one of them disposing of them quickly until he has run out of re-deads to kill. He searches the area to make sure that no one is around. When he looks in the direction of the castle he is astonished by what he sees. What once was a beautiful marble castle has done a complete 180. It seems that Ganondorf has made a few decorative changes over the years now that he has conquered Hyrule. Link stares up at the horrific sight. He backs away slowly then runs out of the market. CUT TO: INT. GANONDORF'S CASTLE - THRONE ROOM - NIGHT The interior has been redesigned as well. For one, Ganondorf's throne si much larger than the previous King's ever was. The room is draped with long purple curtains that hang over the volcanic rock which makes up the surrounding walls. A statue of Ganondorf rests in a crevice above the door to his private chambers. Ganondorf stands silently looking up at a wall that has a huge map of Hyrule on it. Nabooru stands closely behind. They are surrounded by Ganondorf's GENERALS one of whom, GENERAL DRESDIN, stands above a model of Hyrule and its neighboring countries. DRESDIN Lord Ganondorf. If we are to conquer the Northlands we must attack soon and swiftly. I have already prepared our armies for a land assault. If we attack from the Death Mountain Area and spread east and west simultaneously - GANONDORF No. DRESDIN My lord? GANONDORF We will do no such thing. Not until I have more power. Dresdin looks back to the other Generals then back at Ganondorf. DRESDIN But my Lord, you have the Triforce of Power. With that we can conquer all the world. Ganondorf turns and screams at Dresdin, his eyes glowing a fierce red. GANONDORF No! Not until I have them all! Ganondorf grabs Dresdin by the neck, lifts him up into the air and begins crushing his windpipe. GANONDORF I need... more... power! Nabooru stands ready to protest, but it's too late. Dresdin's body goes limp as he dies. Ganondorf drops the dead body to the floor then eyes each one of his Generals. Nabooru walks up to Ganondorf who stares hatefully at the body of his now dead General. NABOORU Was that really necessary, Lord Ganondorf? Ganondorf glares at Nabooru. GANONDORF Never question me again. Ganondorf turns and storms off to his private chamber. Nabooru is taken aback by his bluntness, but follows him anyway. CUT TO: INT. GANONDORF'S CASTLE - PRIVATE CHAMBERS - CONTINUOUS This room is also overtly elaborate. A large bed takes up half the room. The other half of the room is taken up by bookcases and shelves. Various antique weapons dress the walls. Ganondorf stands in the corner staring up at a portrait of himself hanging just behind his bed. Nabooru enters and closes the door behind her. GANONDORF Do you come to badger me again, woman? Or do you enjoy frustrating me to no end? NABOORU I've come to talk some sense into you. GANONDORF Don't bother. NABOORU You must listen to reason, Ganondorf. The other triforce pieces are lost. GANONDORF They are not lost! Somebody has them. And I will scour this world for them until the end of time if need be. But I will find them. NABOORU Listen to yourself. This is not the man I remember. The man who brought down the Hylian kingdom in one swift stroke. GANONDORF That man died a long time ago when you decided to raise him as your own. NABOORU How dare you. If it weren't for me you'd still be the same sniveling child I found lying in the street too scared to even fend for himself. Without me, you're nothing but a coward. Ganondorf swings his arm hitting Nabooru on the face. She falls to the floor in shock clutching at her jaw. GANONDORF Talk to me again like that and I will end your life. He steps over her helpless body and out of the room. |

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
EXT. HYRULE FIELDS - LON LON RANCH - NIGHT
Link walks up to Lon Lon Ranch. Although, not in ruins it still seems to have gone under heavy battle conditions. Link walks cautiously around the ranch. LINK Hello? Malon? Talon? Is there anybody here? He walks into the vacant ranch. CUT TO: INT. LON LON RANCH - SAME We notice that the roof to Talon and Malon's house has a large hole in it. The stables that once housed many cows and horses is now empty and rundown. He makes his way over to a large fenced in grass area and finds a horse eating from the hands of a YOUNG WOMAN. The young woman gently strokes the horse's nose. Link walks up to her from behind. The young woman senses another presence and reaches down to her side. She pulls out a small knife and turns around pointing the knife right at Link. LINK Whoa! It's okay. I won't hurt you. YOUNG WOMAN Who are you? What do you want? LINK I just wanted to check... Link looks closer at the young woman and recognizes her. It is Malon all grown up. MALON What are you looking at? LINK Malon? Is that you? MALON How do you know my name? Who are you? What are you doing here? LINK It's me. Link. Don't you recognize me? MALON (taken aback) I don't know what you're talking about. He approaches her. LINK C'mon Malon - She holds the knife more rigidly in her hands. MALON Stay back! LINK Ok. Ok... MALON That sword. Take it off. Put it on the ground. He takes off the sword and lays it on the grass. MALON The shield too. He complies and puts the shield next to his sword. MALON Turn around. He turns. She approaches him from behind. MALON I don't know who you are, mister. But if you're one of Ganondorf's men then you chose the wrong person to mess with. LINK (turning) C'mon, Malon, it's me - She grabs hold of one of his arms and sticks the point of the blade right up against his neck. MALON I told you not to move! LINK Please! Let me prove it to you. I can prove I know you. MALON Oh yeah? LINK Yeah! That horse you were feeding. Her name's Epona - She presses the knife harder into his neck causing a trickle of blood to appear. MALON That's no secret! Anybody can find that out! You're going to have to do better than that. LINK Okay! Okay! That dress. The dress you're wearing. It used to belong to your mother. You showed it to me when I first came here. You said you wished that you were old enough so that you could wear it. She loosens her grip on the knife and pulls it away from his throat backing off. He reaches for his neck and pulls his hand away to show a small smudge of blood on his fingers. MALON It is you. (coming to her senses) Oh, Link. I'm sorry. Are you hurt? LINK I don't think I'll bleed to death if that's your concern. She looks at him happily then hugs him tightly. MALON Thank the Goddesses. You really came. I was beginning so feel lonely. LINK What happened here? MALON What do you mean what happened? Ganondorf is what happened. Where have you been? Asleep? LINK I guess you could say that. MALON What? I don't understand. LINK Never mind. You're okay. That's what's important. How have you managed to survive for so long? MALON I almost didn't. After Ganondorf took over Hyrule he began destroying everything. My father and I escaped to Kakariko with... my father! LINK What about him? Where is he? MALON He's with the rest of the villagers at Kakariko. They were imprisoned by Ganondorf. I was barely able to escape without them noticing. I came back here to take care of the horses, but Epona was the only one left. LINK What other villagers were imprisoned? MALON Anybody who was there I guess. LINK Was a woman named Impa there? MALON Impa? I don't know. Perhaps. He picks his things up from the ground. LINK I'm sorry to leave you so soon, but I have to go save them. MALON Take me with you. Link looks at her about to protest. MALON Please? LINK All right. She picks up a worn saddle from the ground and heads over to Epona. MALON We can ride Epona there. It'll be faster. Do you know how to ride a horse? LINK Uh... no. She smiles as she slaps the saddle onto Epona's back. MALON It's ok. I do. CUT TO: EXT. HYRULE FIELDS - NIGHT WIDE SHOT Of Malon and Link riding Epona. Link has his arms around Malon's waist barely able to hold on. Malon can be seen slightly laughing. LINK What's so funny? MALON Have you ever ridden a horse before? LINK Once. A long time ago. MALON How long ago was that? LINK Uh... seven years. MALON Seven years? You're supposed to save all of Kakariko and you can't even ride a horse? LINK Never got much of a chance. MALON Well, maybe when this whole thing is over with I'll teach you sometime. LINK Good idea. She giggles. MALON You just promise not to go dying on me, okay? LINK I promise. Malon rides on. CUT TO: INT. KAKARIKO VILLAGE - SAME Malon slowly walks Epona through the Village of Kakariko. It has become a ghost town now that all the people either abandoned it or been imprisoned. LINK Where are the prisoners being held? She points to an empty broke-down well. MALON In there. LINK In there? MALON There's an old prison cell underneath left over from the war. They've covered it up since. All that's left is the well. Malon stops Epona and they dismount. Link looks down the dark abyss of the well. LINK After you. MALON What a gentleman. She climbs down the ladder on the side of the well. Link follows closely behind. CUT TO: INT. BOTTOM OF THE WELL - CONTINUOUS At the bottom of the well there is a wooden door with a padlock on it. Link inspects it and sees that the wood is rotten. He begins to ram his shoulder into the door. It budges a bit. LINK Get behind me. She stands behind him. Link then kicks his foot forward several times before the door flies open. He pulls out his sword and shield and walks in. CUT TO: INT. BOTTOM OF THE WELL - GUARD ROOM - CONTINUOUS Link and Malon walk cautiously down a small corridor and into the guardroom where there are two rows of pillars. At the far end is a throne. Sitting on top of the throne is IRON KNUCKLE. This new threat is covered from head to toe in very strong and very heavy armor. In the Iron Knuckle's hands rests a huge battle-axe. MALON (whispering) What is that? LINK Stay here. He peeks his head around the wall seeing the Iron Knuckle who looks almost to be asleep. He sneaks up behind one of the pillars and hides behind it. MALON Link?!? LINK (whispering) Keep your voice down. It's ok. I just want to get a closer look. POV of Link We see behind the throne a door leading to what can only be the prison cell. BACK TO SCENE Link runs back to where Malon is. LINK (whispering) All right. There's a door behind the throne. I think that's where the prisoners are being held. We'll sneak around to the back and let them out one at a time, ok? MALON (whispering) What if it wakes up? LINK (whispering) Let's just hope it doesn't. Are you ready? She nods then runs ahead of Link and hides behind the next pillar. Link follows. As they sneak from pillar to pillar trying not to wake the Iron Knuckle, a part of Link's armor scrapes the stone on one the pillars. Both Link and Malon stop dead in there tracks holding their breath as the Iron Knuckle wakes from his sleep. It stands at a menacing seven feet tall. The Iron Knuckle readies his battle-axe and begins searching for the sound that woke it up. Link clutches his sword and runs out into the center of the room, his shield in front of him. As soon as Iron knuckle spots Link it moves in his direction slowly but deliberately. Link taunts the Iron Knuckle away from Malon's hiding spot. As soon as it is close enough it swings. The force of his swing is so powerful it knocks the shield right out of Links hands. It flies halfway across the room out of his reach. Link himself is sent falling to the floor only to have to roll out of the way before Iron Knuckle swings downward. The axe hits the gravel beneath with a loud clang. Link gets to his feet and holds his sword out in front of him. He maneuvers so that the Iron Knuckle has its back turned toward Malon. Seeing this as her one opportunity she sprints madly to the door and sneaks in, quietly closing it behind her. CUT TO: INT. BOTTOM OF THE WELL - PRISON CELL - CONTINUOUS In the prison there are two cells on either wall filled with people. There is one GERUDO GUARD who is seen walking away from one of the cells with a bowl. Talon, being one of the prisoners, goes up to the bars. TALON Hey, can we have a little more water here? We're dying of thirst. GERUDO GUARD Shut your mouth or you'll get nothing at all. Malon appears from behind with her knife pulled and grabs hold of the Guard. She puts the knife to the Guards throat causing him to drop the bowl. MALON I suggest you treat my father with a little more respect. The prisoners spark to life the minute they see Malon. TALON Malon! MALON So, Mister Guard. Where are the keys? GERUDO GUARD No keys. MALON Well, then how do you open these cells? GERUDO GUARD Switch. Over there. He points to a switch on the far wall. MALON Thanks. She hits the Gerudo Guard on the head with the butt of her knife and he falls to the floor unconscious. She pushes the switch and the door to each of the prison cells opens. Talon rushes to his daughter and gives her a big hug. TALON Thank the goddesses you're all right. How did you get here? MALON There's no time, Daddy. We have to go right now. All right everyone, listen up. The villagers gather around. MALON The Guard is still outside, but he's being distracted. So what we'll have to do is wait till his back is turned to us and then make for the exit. All right? Ok. Only three people at a time. Let's go. CUT BACK TO: GUARD ROOM - CONTINUOUS Link makes a swing with his sword and hits Iron Knuckle on the back of its armor. A piece of the armor falls off. Link and Iron Knuckle look at the piece of armor in bewilderment. The Iron Knuckle gets mad and charges Link. He takes a swing with the axe and Link dodges it. Instead of hitting its target it hits the rock pillar Link was standing next to turning it into rubble. Behind the throne the prison door opens. Link notices it and tries to get Iron Knuckle to face away from it. He hits Iron Knuckle again knocking off more of his armor and getting him even more upset. Iron Knuckle moves faster taking two huge swings at Link who barely avoids them. The first three Villagers see their chance and quickly make their way to the exit using the pillars as hiding places. More people escape as Link continues to hit Iron Knuckle removing more and more of his armor. There are only five people left now including Talon and Malon. Talon and two other Villagers run for the doorway and make it. Link does a few more dodges and gets Iron Knuckle to turn his back towards the door. Malon and a YOUNG BOY begin to make their way to the exit. Link lunges at Iron Knuckle, but misses. Iron Knuckle backhands Link in the face with his steel gauntlet. He falls to the floor a bit dazed. Seeing this, Malon lets out a small yelp. Iron Knuckle turns and sees her standing with the boy. Caught, Malon tries to make her escape with the boy. Iron Knuckle throws his axe right at Malon, but misses barely burying itself in the wall just inches from her face. She falls to the floor clutching the boy in her arms trying to protect the child as best she can. Iron Knuckle charges in the direction of Malon and the boy, pulls out his axe and raises it in the air to deliver the final blow. Just then, Talon tackles the Iron Knuckle to the floor. Malon and the boy get up and rush out of the room. Iron Knuckle punches Talon and throws him off. Link has regained his strength and rushes the Iron Knuckle. Iron Knuckle is about to punish Talon for interfering when Link appears from behind. With all his strength he swings the sword at Iron Knuckle's back. The sword has such power behind it that it slices through the handle of the axe and buries itself in the armor. Iron Knuckle falls to his knees as the remainder of his armor falls off. Malon has re-entered the room and stands by the door watching from a distance. CUT TO: CLOSE UP Of Link with an astonished look on his face. CUT TO: CLOSE UP The top of Iron Knuckle's head with its helmet off. He lifts his head to reveal Impa with a confused look on her face. IMPA Wha - what happened? Where am I? LINK Impa? She looks up and recognizes him. IMPA I - I know you. He helps her to her feet and walks her over to the Throne. Malon walks over to her father and helps him up. MALON Daddy? Are you okay? TALON I'll be fine. Are you? MALON Uh-huh. (to Link) Link is that the woman... LINK Yes. (to Impa) Impa? Are you okay? IMPA Yes. I - I don't know what happened... The last thing I remember was Ganondorf. He was asking me questions. He wanted the Princess. LINK Do you know where the Princess is? IMPA (pause) No. I don't. LINK But you know why I'm here? She looks up at him and smiles. IMPA Yes. Suddenly, the armor that Impa was wearing begins to disappear. A blue circle appears on the floor and begins to glow. LINK What is that? IMPA It is time for us to leave. Link looks over to Malon and Talon who are slightly hugging each other. LINK I have to say goodbye to my friends first. Is that okay? IMPA Of course. Impa stands up and walks into the circle waiting for Link. Link walks up to Malon and Talon. TALON Link, I should've known. He holds out his hand to shake. Link takes it. TALON Thank you for saving my life. LINK It's the least I can do for your being so kind to me. TALON Well, you could marry Malon if you want. You have my blessing. MALON (embarrassed) Dad! TALON What? She shakes her head and walks with Link over to a private part of the room away from her father's eavesdropping ears. MALON Never mind dad. He's just being silly. LINK It's okay. MALON I understand that you have to go so I won't keep you. You just have to promise me one thing. The next time you decide to visit don't take so long okay? LINK Okay. I promise. She hugs him close. It lingers until finally they part. Link takes off the necklace she gave him and places it back around her neck. Malon quickly kisses his cheek and walks back over to her father. Link picks up his shield and sword then joins Impa in the blue circle. It glows brightly until in a flash of light they are gone. Malon squeezes her father's hand. CUT TO: INT. SACRED REALM - CHAMBER OF SAGES - TIMELESS Link floats down to the main platform while Impa rises from one of the surrounding platforms. Link checks himself to make sure everything is there. IMPA Did you lose something? LINK No. I guess coming here is just something I'll have to get used to. IMPA I know what you mean. I want to thank you for saving me. And to say that I'm sorry. When Ganondorf came looking for the Princess he placed a spell on me. I feel so foolish having allowed him to do such a thing to me. LINK It wasn't your fault. You shouldn't blame yourself for everything that happens. IMPA Indeed. And now that the spell is broken I can fight him again. This time as a Sage. Which reminds me. You will find the second Sage in the forest of the Kokiri. It is a girl I'm sure you know. Go to her Link. Only the Hero of Time has the ability to awaken the spirit of a Sage. Go. Link turns into the swirl of green light as we WHITE OUT: EXT. HYRULE FIELDS - NIGHT Link lies in the grass slowly coming to consciousness. When his eyes fully open he jerks his head up as if waking from a bad dream. We see that he's at the entrance of the Kokiri forest. Link gets up and walks into the trees. |

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - SAME
When he gets there he finds it in even worse condition than Kakariko. Many trees have been toppled over burned to the ground. There is not a hint of green anywhere. The Great Deku Tree is obviously dead. Link is unable to speak. He runs to where his tree house used to be and finds it toppled over like so many others. He rummages around the rubble but finds nothing. He senses another presence behind him. Link pulls his sword and quickly turns to see a SHADOWY FIGURE. It begins to laugh. LINK (alert) Who are you? Answer me! SHADOWY FIGURE I wasn't sure at first what to make of you. Whether you were one of Ganondorf's men or not. But then I saw your face it was a dead give away. LINK What do you want? SHADOWY FIGURE What do I want? I want you to apologize for what you did to us. LINK What did I do to you? SHADOWY FIGURE You left us! Here, to die! After everything we've done for you. You left us. (pause) You still don't know who I am, do you? Even after all these years? He steps out of the shadows to reveal a mangled 20-year-old man, although he looks much older. He has one arm bandaged, his legs are beaten and bruised also covered in bandages. But even through all of this we can still recognize who it is. MIDO It's your good old friend, Mido. LINK Mido? MIDO How could you do that to us? We trusted you. You promised to save the forest. Now look at it. Look! LINK I - I don't know what to say - MIDO After you left things just got worse. Soon the Great Deku Tree died and then... Nydia... After that we had no protection from the outside world anymore. Saria did her best to keep us together - Link's ears perk up at this. LINK Saria? Mido continues. MIDO - But it was too late. Ganondorf made his attack on Hyrule - LINK - Mido, where is Saria -? MIDO (on the verge of tears) Then he destroyed all the villages one by one - LINK Mido! Mido stops his rambling and looks over at Link. LINK I need to find Saria. Where is she? MIDO You don't even care do you? LINK No, it's not that - MIDO You wanna know where she is? She's dead! They're all dead all because of you! Mido runs off leaving Link breathless. His knees buckle and he falls to the floor crying for what seems like forever. Sheik appears seemingly out of nowhere. He stands behind Link a sad expression in his eyes. Link sees him then looks away. LINK (wiping his tears away) Leave me alone. SHEIK I thought maybe should know - LINK She's dead. She's dead because of me. And you just stand there as if nothing's wrong. SHEIK Let me finish. LINK She's dead! And there's nothing I can do about it. She died because of me! Because I failed! SHEIK She's not dead. (pause) Ganondorf found out who she was and is holding her on the outskirts of the forest. There's some sort of enchanted there where - LINK I don't need the whole history. Just tell me where she is. SHEIK (slight pause) East. Near the lake by the sacred meadow. LINK What Lake? CUT TO: EXT. LAKE - NIGHT Link is running through a thin forest of trees. He reaches a clearing with a small lake. In the center is a lone tree with a few leaves still stuck on it. He makes his way across the lake cautiously. We see something small and red hovering in the air. As we get closer we see it is a red crystalline chamber. Inside is Saria being held prisoner. Link quickens his pace toward the chamber. He runs to it, but it is too high for him to reach. Saria recognizes Link right away and begins screaming his name, but no matter how loud she does her voice cannot be heard. LINK Just hang on ok? I'll find a way to get you down. As Link looks around frantically his eyes fall on something in the distance. Standing by the tree in the middle of the lake is a dark figure. From where Link stands it is hard to make out what it is. He moves slowly towards the dark figure, drawing his sword. As we get closer we see what it is he's up against. It is himself or rather his shadow, DARK LINK. Its eyes glow an eerie red. Link is taken aback by this. Dark Link also draws his sword. As Dark Link gets closer it is apparent that he is running right for Link. Dark Link jumps into the air holding his sword above him in striking position. Link blocks Dark Links attack then swings his sword to counter but is blocked by his foes shield. The two warriors circle each other. Dark Link makes a lunge and is blocked. Link retaliates, but to no avail. It seems that any attack Link does Dark Link will be able to block and vice versa. Dark Link backs up a bit then does a running leap into the air. He holds his blade straight down aiming for Link's head. Link does a back flip to avoid Dark Link's attack then lunges, but is blocked then punched in the face. He falls back making a small splash in the water. Dark Link runs up and swings his sword downward. Link is able to bring his up just in time to stop the blade just inches from his face. Link kicks Dark Link in his side then pushes him away. Dark Link moves quickly with his sword disregarding his shield completely. He gets in close and elbows Link in the face. Again Link stumbles backwards. Dark Link lunges and Link knocks it away. They twirl swords until Link gets the advantage and holds Dark Link's sword to the ground. Link head-butts him. Link grabs Dark Link's collar and begins ramming the hilt of his sword repeatedly into Dark Link's face. Dark Link stumbles back. Link holds his blade as if it was a spear and chucks it right at Dark Link. The Sword plunges deep into Dark Link's stomach. He drops his sword and falls to his knees. Link walks calmly up to Dark Link and rests his hands on the blade's handle. LINK This is for my sister. He shoves the Master Sword deeper into Dark Link's body. He keels over, dead. Link looks over to the crystalline chamber which is descending. It hits the ground and disappears into nothing leaving only Saria on her hands and knees. She gets up and begins running towards Link who is, in turn, running towards her. They meet in the middle right into each other's arms. Saria is crying tears of joy. SARIA I knew you'd come back. I knew it. LINK I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for everything. It was my fault the forest died. I'm sorry I let you down. SARIA Oh, Link. You can never let me down. I know you did everything you could. You will never let me down. Ever. He rests his head in her shoulders. She takes it lovingly stroking the back of his head. She notices something off-screen. SARIA Link look! We see Dark Link's body disintegrate and turn into the same circle of light that it did with the Iron Knuckle armor. Saria and Link make their way to the circle and step in. Link bends down to pick up his sword and sheaths it. Then a bright flash as we CUT TO: INT. SACRED REALM - CHAMBER OF SAGES - TIMELESS We are back in the Chamber of Sages. Link floats to his usual spot while Saria ascends from another one of the outer platforms. She looks at him lovingly. SARIA If only Nydia could see you now. Then she'd know just how right she was. You are the one, true Hero of Time, Link. Not even you can deny that. And who would have thought? Me. A Sage. I'm sure not even Nydia could have predicted that one. LINK What about the forest? SARIA Ganondorf's reign over it has ended. And in time it will flourish. But now it is time for you to go. There is someone waiting for you at the Temple of Time. As he morphs into the swirl of light Saria's voice can be heard in the b.g. softly saying: "Thank you, Link. Thank you." WHITE OUT: |

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
INT. TEMPLE OF TIME - MASTER SWORD ROOM - NIGHT
Link appears once again in the the Master Sword room. He turns around and is greeted by Sheik. SHEIK Hello, Link. I've been waiting for you. LINK So I've heard. SHEIK You have overcome many hardships and gained many skills. And now the time has come for the final showdown with Ganondorf. But first there are things I must tell only you. A legend of the Triforce few people know. The legend goes that if the person who touches the Triforce has the forces of power, wisdom and courage in balance, only then can they gain the one True Triforce. But if those forces are out of balance then the Triforce will split into three parts each representing one of the forces and leave the one who touched the Triforce the piece that mirrors their heart. If that person seeks the one True Triforce then they must seek the others chosen by destiny for the other two. These people can only be identified by the symbol of the Triforce on the back of their hands. However, its full power can only be obtained when the one who holds there part is at peace. All of this was just a legend until seven years ago. When Ganondorf entered the Sacred and touched the Triforce the legend came true. The Triforce separated into three parts and Ganondorf was left only with the Triforce of Power. But he was not satisfied. He has searched all of Hyrule for the two destined to hold the other Triforce parts. The one who holds the Triforce of Courage is you, Link. Link's face turns completely white. The information seems too much for him. LINK And the third? Who holds that? SHEIK The one who holds the Triforce of Wisdom is the Third Sage and the one destined to be the leader of them all. Sheik holds up his left hand in a clenched fist. The symbol of the Triforce appears on the back of his fist with the lower left triangle highlighted above the rest. Then Sheik begins to glow a bright yellow blinding Link. A flash of light fills the room. Link uncovers his eyes. Standing in Sheik's place wearing full Royal clothing is Princess Zelda. She has grown the last few years and is even more beautiful then when we last saw her. ZELDA Hello, Link. LINK Princess? ZELDA I'm sorry for having met you in disguise, but it was necessary in order to evade Ganondorf's search for me. When we rode off seven years ago I thought that because you had the Medallion Ganondorf could never retrieve the Triforce. But I never expected it to seal you away. I concealed myself as Sheik and have waited for you seven long years. But now, with your return and the awakening of the three sages we can finally seal Ganondorf away in the Evil Realm. Link looks likes he's about to say something, but doesn't. ZELDA What is it? LINK I'm just - I'm just happy to see that you're all right. That's all. ZELDA (pause) Link, I - Before she can finish the Temple begins to shake violently. Link and Zelda both fall to the floor. Then a red crystalline chamber, similar to the prison that held Saria, forms around Zelda. Link sees this and runs over to her. He pulls out his sword and gives it a couple of good swings, but it's as solid as stone. He bangs angrily on the outer shell. The chamber begins to lift her into the air until finally it disappears in a burst of light. All that can be heard is Ganondorf's evil laughter. CUT TO: EXT. GANONDORF'S CASTLE - NIGHT WIDE SHOT Of Link running towards the castle. His run shows no hesitation in it as he flies through the entrance. CUT TO: INT. GANONDORF'S CASTLE - FIRST FLOOR - CONTINUOUS A few GERUDO GUARDS are standing by their posts before the doors fly open and Link bursts in. They attack, but they are no match for him. Link kills the guards without thought or feeling as he makes his way up to CUT TO: SECOND FLOOR - CONTINUOUS More guards that Link finishes off quickly. It is fairly obvious by now that he is a man on a mission and he's not letting anyone get in his way. He runs up the next flight of stairs and through the door. CUT TO: THRONE ROOM - CONTINUOUS Link enters and sees Ganondorf sitting on his throne a Symbol of the Triforce carved into the wall behind him. Nabooru stands next to him with his hand resting on the butt of her sword. His Generals stand in single file with swords drawn. Link stands ready with his sword. Hanging high above Ganondorf's throne is Princess Zelda locked away in her chamber. Ganondorf closes his eyes. GANONDORF The Triforce parts are resonating. I can feel it. Seven long years I have searched for the missing pieces. I never would have thought they'd be hidden within you two. The Generals move in on Link and circle around him outnumbering him seven to one. GANONDORF I will make you pay for stealing what is rightfully mine! One of the Generals attacks Link who blocks the attack and counters with a slice to the gut. Soon Link is fighting all of Ganondorf's Generals. He fights expertly getting rid of them one by one until they are all gone. Nabooru stands defiantly between Link and her King. She calmly withdraws his sword from behind him and swings it around him until, almost magically, the sword separates into two. Nabooru ends in a defensive stance. The duelists hold for what seems like an eternity, then they both attack at the same time. Sounds of swords clashing as the two move in a blur. They stop again in their defensive stance. Nabooru stands tall with her swords crossed in front of her waiting for Link to attack. When Link does he charges him at full speed and just as he's about to hit his defenseless target it disappears. Link is shocked at her disappearance but remains on guard ready for anything. Suddenly, appearing just to Link's right is Nabooru who takes a swing at Link's head, but she is just a half second too slow. Link is able to block the attack with his shield. Using the momentum of the swing with her first sword Nabooru twirls her body around and lashes out with the second sword cutting Link's back. Link screams in pain. Link regains his posture, but is in obvious pain. He attacks Nabooru who deflects the oncoming attack then disappears into nothingness once again. Link breathes heavily as he searches around the room. Nabooru appears swinging with fury. He leaves two huge gashes on Link's legs and arms. Link buckles. Nabooru circles Link like a predator. NABOORU Get up. If you are a man you will get up and face me. Link stands up and faces his enemy. NABOORU Now, prepare to meet your fate. Link looks up at Zelda. INSERT CLOSE UP Of Link's left hand. A faint glimmer of the Triforce appears. BACK TO SCENE Link looks back at Nabooru and their eyes lock. LINK No. It's not finished yet. Link readies an attack. With one final rush they charge each other with full strength. Then, in a split second, the two meet and strike. Both Link and Nabooru end with their backs facing each other still holding their final stance. Then, Nabooru loses all strength to hold herself up and falls to the ground dead. Link straightens up and sets his sights on Ganondorf. GANONDORF Very good, boy. I'd expect nothing less from the holder of the Triforce of Courage. I suppose I should be graceful enough to allow you to recover your strength. But seeing as you're going to die anyway why not just skip to the end? Ganondorf holds his hand up and lets out a huge wave of energy. It throws Link back ten feet in the air before he finally lands on the ground, hard. Then, he lets out a ball of electricity that engulfs Link's entire body. GANONDORF It appears your Triforce has not yet awakened. A pity you could not experience the raw power of the Goddesses. All the more reason for me to take it from you. He stands and holds his hands out gathering more power to him. Link stands holding the master sword in front of him. It begins to glow a bright blue. Ganondorf releases the two balls of energy. Before they can hit, Link deflects the first one away with the master sword and knocks the second one right at Ganondorf hitting him dead on. Ganondorf is stunned for a second. GANONDORF So, the legend is true. You do, indeed, wield the blade of evil's bane. But no matter how strong it is it cannot protect you from this. He holds his fist in front of him showing us the back of his hand. The Triforce symbol appears with the top triangle highlighted. Ganondorf jumps into the air and hangs there, his body glowing a bright red. He looks down at Link with piercing red eyes. The room begins to shake. The walls disintegrate. Pieces of the ceiling begin to fall from above. Link uses his shield to block the falling debris. After a few minutes the entire room has been completely demolished. The floor of the Throne room now acts as the roof of the castles main tower with a hundred-foot drop on all sides. Then Ganondorf himself transforms into GANON, a monstrous Pig/Minotaur/Demon Bull creature armed with two huge swords. Link stares up at the huge beast in absolute terror. Ganon lets out a huge roar then takes a mighty swing with one of his swords. Link holds his shield in front of him. But Ganon's sword doesn't hit the shield. It hits, instead, the Master Sword sending it flying through the air. It lands in the ground about twenty feet away Braveheart style. Link, swordless, stares up at the huge beast. He dodges a swing Ganon makes and runs behind him. Ganon turns and with his two blades crossed over each other creates a huge fireball that flies right for Link. Link holds up his shield to block the fireball, but it is too strong. It sends him soaring through the air. He lands on the ground with a hard thud. Ganon picks up the wounded Link, growls in his face then begins to squeeze. Link screams. From the chamber Zelda yells Link's name and for a brief second we can almost hear it. Link's eyes shoot open. He grits his teeth as his whole body begins to glow green. Ganon roars before Link bursts from his grip. Link lands with his right knee and left fist on the ground. The back of his left hand glows with the symbol of the Triforce, the lower right triangle highlighted above the rest. Ganon roars and then sticks his two swords together releasing another fireball. The fireball makes contact only it doesn't hit Link. Right on impact, a green pyramid forms around Link acting as a protective shield. Link stands and stares at Ganon who makes a swing with one of the swords. Link dodges it by doing a back flip landing right next to the Master Sword. He pulls the sword from the ground then runs behind Ganon. Performing an impossible jump into the air he lands on Ganon's back, jams the sword into it, then leaps off. Ganon writhes in pain as he tries to pull the sword from his back. The crystalline chamber that has been imprisoning Zelda falls to the floor and disappears. Zelda stands tall then reaches up to the sky. ZELDA Now is the time. Sages of the Earth and of the Moon. Descend from the heavens and bind this evil within the timeless void of the Evil Realm. Impa and Saria descend from the sky as balls of blue and green light respectively then change into their normal selves. Zelda floats into the air joining the two. There power creates a triangle in the sky right above Ganon. Then, they bombard Ganon over and over with waves of light as he begins to be taken piece by piece into the void above. Soon there is nothing left except the Master Sword, which lies unmoving on the ground. CUT TO: EXT. KAKARIKO VILLAGE - NIGHT We see Malon emptying a basket of bricks onto a small pile she has made, Death Mountain visible in the b.g. The rest of the villagers are also busy trying to clean up the village when Death Mountain begins to erupt. The villagers stop what they are doing and watch the spectacle unfold in front of their eyes. In a matter of minutes the thunderous storm that once circled its peak is replaced by the calmer looking clouds we recognize from before. Malon clutches her necklace and smiles to herself. CUT TO: INT. THRONE ROOM - NIGHT Link, Zelda, Saria and Impa watch the transformation of Death Mountain back into its normal state from atop Ganon's Tower. Another blue circle of light forms in the center of the room. LINK I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm exhausted. Impa turns to Link. IMPA Well, you turned out to be quite the hero. LINK I don't know about that. I've got this strange feeling that there are no real heroes. Just people who think they are. She smiles, shakes his hand then walks into the circle of light. Saria is the next to say goodbye. SARIA I guess this is goodbye again, dear brother. It's a shame too. I'll never get to share in your adventures again. She hugs him close. LINK I love you, Saria. I will never forget you. She hugs him tighter before she breaks herself away and joins Impa. They disappear, but the blue circle remains. Only Zelda is left. ZELDA Thanks to you, Ganondorf has been banished to the Evil Realm. I can't help but feel responsible for all the tragedy that has befallen upon Hyrule. I was too young and inexperienced to understand the consequences my actions might bring. And I brought you into it as well. But now I have a chance to make things right. She kneels down, picks up the Master Sword and holds it up for Link to take. ZELDA As the Hero of Time you have one final task before you. We must return to the Temple of Time so that you can place the Master Sword in its resting place and seal Ganondorf away for all eternity. CUT TO: INT. TEMPLE OF TIME - MASTER SWORD ROOM - NIGHT Link walks up to the pedestal where he first pulled the master sword. He turns around to look at Zelda who is standing just behind him. LINK I don't want to go back. ZELDA You must, Link. Your task here is done. LINK But I don't want to. I want to stay here. I want to stay with - ZELDA Shush. She places a finger on his lips to quiet him. ZELDA When peace returns to Hyrule then it will be time for us to say goodbye. She leans close, kissing his cheek. ZELDA Now, go home, Link. Regain your lost time. Home... where you are supposed to be... the way you are supposed to be. She takes a few steps back. Link faces the pedestal and pulls out the Master sword. CUT TO: INT. SACRED REALM - CONTINUOUS We are back in the Sacred Realm. Ganondorf is on his hands and knees in the void. In front of him we sees the way out of Sacred Realm. He gets to his feet and begins running toward it. CUT TO: MASTER SWORD ROOM - CONTINUOUS Link raises the master sword over his head in a downward position then strikes the pedestal burying the Master Sword into the stone. CUT TO: SACRED REALM - CONTINUOUS Ganondorf is almost to the door when it closes. POV of Ganondorf THREE SAGES stand on the other side of the door as it begins to close, but they are not Zelda, Saria or Impa. BACK TO SCENE In a last vain effort, Ganondorf leaps forward, but is too late. The door is closed. GANONDORF No!!! The Sacred Realm begins to darken and a blue crystalline chamber, like the one Zelda and Saria were held in, forms around him. Powerless, Ganondorf bangs his palms on his prison. GANONDORF No! NO! You cannot hold me forever! As long as the Triforce of Power is in my hand no one is safe! His voice echoes endlessly as we CUT TO: MASTER SWORD ROOM - CONTINUOUS Much like before, when Link first pulled the sword from its pedestal, a blue light seeps through from underneath the platform and circles around Link. As he begins to lift into the air Zelda takes a step forward wanting to go with him, but restrains herself. ZELDA Thank you... goodbye. WHITE OUT: INT. TEMPLE OF TIME - MASTER SWORD ROOM - NIGHT We start up at the ceiling as the same light that turned Link into an adult fills the room. PAN DOWN until we are at eye level with Link, who is 14 once again. He takes one last look at the Master Sword then walks out of the Temple. CUT TO: EXT. KOKIRI FOREST - DAY The villagers are alive and happy performing their usual day-to-day tasks. The Great Deku Tree is alive and kicking, as is Nydia. A KOKIRI GIRL playing with her friends suddenly stops and looks off-screen with a surprised look on her face. KOKIRI GIRL Mommy! Daddy! Link's home! He's come back! He's home! The rest of the villagers stop what they are doing and look over at the entrance. We see Link returning from the Hyrulean plains riding Epona. Everyone stops what they were doing to greet Link, petting Epona and asking if he has any interesting stories to tell. Everyone that is except for Mido. Mido sits on the front steps of his house watching everyone from afar. He quietly smiles to himself. Saria sticks her head out of her house to see the crowd gathering around Link. Not believing her eyes she exits her house cautiously. Link spots her, gives a big enthusiastic wave. She is overcome by emotion. They run into each other's arms and hug as if they haven't seen each other in years. He pulls back a bit so he can look her straight in the face. LINK Ask me how I feel? SARIA How do you feel? LINK Never felt better in my whole life. She smiles and hugs him again. When she opens her eyes she sees a few of the Royal Guards marching down the pathway. Leading the way is a white horse carrying both Impa and young Zelda. Link follows her gaze, as does everybody else in the village. Impa stops the horse as two of the Royal Guards help Zelda down. Nydia walks up and greets her. LINK (to Saria) I'll be right back, ok? She nods and he walks over to where Nydia and Zelda are talking. Zelda notices him and is shocked by what she sees. Nydia looks back at Link and smiles moving out of the way for him to talk to Zelda. Zelda walks towards Link stopping just a few feet away. ZELDA Excuse me. I don't mean to sound silly, but have we met before? He smiles slightly. ZELDA My name is Zelda. What's your name? LINK My name is Link. ZELDA Hello, Link. It's nice to meet you. LINK It's nice to meet you, too. They gaze and smile at each other as if they were the only two in on the biggest secret. FADE OUT. END CREDITS. THE END Coming soon..... Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
Although it took me all day (due to my laziness) I thoroughly enjoyed it. The changes were a bit...Odd, but obviously necessary and I understand that. You pulled them off nicely, anyway. And there's not too much dungeon-crawling, which is a good thing. And I'm glad you included some, because that's just integral. I'm fond of how Link was portrayed with the ladies, too. He didn't get with anyone, so no one's disappointed. Except maybe the Saria fans.
For a movie adaption of the game (which is quite tough to do for any video game) it's very well-done. I especially enjoy Ganondorf's motives at the beginning and how you created depth to his character rather than having him a power-mad leader. All in all, kudos. Although I'm not happy with some of the changes, I realize that the game wouldn't fit into two hours. You can't please everyone, though. Great job, and I hope you succeed because this is great. 5 years of work eh? Amazing.

Re: THE LEGEND OF ZELDA - Script
Yay! Thanks a bunch HR. I appreciate the comments you made.
Yes, I know most people won't be happy with the chagnes. My only hope is that the script is good enough that any hardcore zelda fan would be able to look past those changes and accept the movie for what it is. ![]() |
