Shocker
Writing feels like such a chore. Why do I bother?
--- Zelda (as Sheik) receives the shock of her life when the Hero awakens from a seven-year slumber. (Contains elements of both the game and the manga) Seven years. Seven years had slowly passed by for Princess Zelda as she hid from Ganondorf’s forces from inside his own army. It was her decision to pass as a Sheikah boy, her decision to become a servant of the evil king. And all that time she waited for the rise of the Hero of Time to appear and cleanse the land of all evil. To maintain her appearance as a loyal servant, she did things. She killed her own people in cold blood, watched as a village was ransacked and burned to the ground, and watched as the Zora’s froze to death. She watched with cold, uncaring, eyes. She didn’t flinch at the sound of breaking the neck of that soldier, her first kill. She didn’t because she couldn’t. Emotion would lead to doubt, and doubt lead to death. If she wasn’t by Ganondorf’s side, she was carrying out his orders. If she wasn’t carrying out his orders, she was sleeping. If she wasn’t sleeping, she was practicing. If she wasn’t practicing, she was in the Temple of Time, crying. The temple was the safest place to be, and she had nothing but time. It didn’t take long for her to run out of tears. Today was another boring, and uneventful day. Ganondorf hadn’t bothered to wake up from his ‘Evil Sleep’ as he liked to call it, and the Twinrova sisters had seemingly gone on vacation, so that left her with nothing to do but wait. She sat in the rafters of the temple, plucking a few strings on her harp as she drowsed into sleep. A minute longer and she wouldn’t have noticed the blue light that filled the entire room. She rubbed her eyes and blinked a few times before hearing voices bellow her. Did Ganondorf finally awake? Were his men looking for Sheik? For her? Did they finally decide to check the temple? These questions ran through her head as she looked down at the trespassers of her sanctuary. She sighed in relief, as it was just someone dressed in green arguing with a fairy. She settled back into her little nook and began to relax into sleep. Green, and a fairy. The Hero returns and she was going to sleep through it, some Princess of Destiny she was. She spent years preparing and waiting for this day, hell if she missed her opportunity. She jumped down with all the grace of a well-trained Sheikah, and landed loud enough to be heard. Quick as a flash, almost too fast, she was staring at clear blue eyes that held an innocence she hadn’t seen in over seven years. Not much else was seen, for half his face and most of his torso was hidden behind a shield. Next to that shield was the Master Sword, ready to strike. It was that sword that had confirmed to Zelda that the Hero of Time now stood in front of her, ready to strike. She studied the Hero a moment longer when she realized something was off slightly. She couldn’t place it, but she had the odd feeling that what was in front of her wasn’t exactly what she was expecting. And the feeling didn’t go away when she started talking. “As I see you standing there with the Master Sword in hand, I can truly believe that you are the Hero of Time, destined to save Hyrule.” Please, put your shield down. “As you may be wondering, I and Sheik, one of the last of the Sheikah tribe.” Let me see your face. “By now, you must’ve heard about Ganondorf, the King of Evil.” I want to know-- “Even though you hold the Master Sword, you have no hope of winning. In order to defeat the King of Evil, you must awaken the remaining five sages.” – how much you changed. She watched carefully, and felt her heart quicken as the Hero slowly dropped his guard. That same odd feeling came full force as the shield lowered to reveal the Hero. Zelda felt her blood run cold. Her calm, collected composure disappeared, and was replaced with emotions unfamiliar to the part that made her Sheik. Her face was pale, her eyes wide, and her mouth hanging open; she almost didn’t catch what she heard next. “Starting to understand what I said earlier?” The small voice sounded annoyed. “Will everyone act like this?” Almost a whisper, she could barely hear it. “Hope not.” Sounded even more annoyed. She was almost brought back to her senses when the fairy flew into her face. “What do you think you’re staring at, bandage boy?” And then flew off again, shouting ‘perv’ over her shoulder. She watched the fairy fly a lap around the hero and then dive down the shirt of a very startled, and VERY female, Link. The last thing she saw was the very same woman blushing at her fairy partner’s antics. --- 'Been meaning to do something like this for a while now. Don't know if I'll add anything.
