Another animal quiz...with cats!

I was disappointed that the other animal quiz labelled me as a unicorn, so I went searching for another animal quiz, and found this one:

The best thing about it, of course, is that it features various members of the family Felidae. :B

My result? Tiger. I was kind of hoping for lion, but this works as well.

I think it was last month that I stopped by Banana Republic and thought it'd be nice to buy a woman's perfume and wear it myself since it smells so good. I decided not to after a while and just left the fragrance there. Last night, though, I thought it'd be a good idea to spray some on my bed. Damn! It was so nice. I fell on the bed, and it was just so good. I fell asleep, and woke up feeling like I had sex with a beautiful woman. :) You guys have to try this out. It was so soothing, I couldn't resist falling asleep that very instant.

First its a beautiful day here in Stockton California, it is raining. So now lets get to it. So I was on my bike riding home from Delta college and about half home there is this white kid, looked to be a freshman/sophmore in high school, and he was ridding in the opposite direction as me. As we are about to move pass each other he looks at me and says "Eastside Nigga". As I passed him I started to laugh a bit and started thinking if the fine people of ZU have ever had something like this happen to them. Have you ever been out and about and someone you don't know just says something completely random to you?

Fanta Flavors

So, I got on the topic of Fanta flavors with some MSN friends today and thought, hmm, what is ZU's favorite Fanta flavor?

Fanta has like a jillion different flavors (Google it if you don't believe me), but we'll go with the most well known and basic ones. Orange, yellow, green, cherry, strawberry, grape, and blue.

I don't think all of them got fruit names as flavors either though, so yeah, that's why I'm listing some as colors. xP

My favs are blue and grape. Sadly, blue seems to have disappeared off the face of the Earth. I'm the only one I know who got the pleasure of drinking it when it was still being sold. Grape is around though.

Did Texas ban all marriages?

LOL. My baby is a bastard child even with the marriage license, wedding, and all the other paperwork I filed.

In an effort to ban gay marriages, it seems my home state has effectively banned any and all marriages. I did not vote for this at all (supporter of hetero and gay marriages).

What do you guys think of this?

Barbara Ann Radnofsky, a Houston lawyer and Democratic candidate for attorney general, says that a 22-word clause in a 2005 constitutional amendment designed to ban gay marriages erroneously endangers the legal status of all marriages in the state.

The amendment, approved by the Legislature and overwhelmingly ratified by voters, declares that "marriage in this state shall consist only of the union of one man and one woman." But the troublemaking phrase, as Radnofsky sees it, is Subsection B, which declares:

"This state or a political subdivision of this state may not create or recognize any legal status identical or similar to marriage."

Architects of the amendment included the clause to ban same-sex civil unions and domestic partnerships. But Radnofsky, who was a member of the powerhouse Vinson & Elkins law firm in Houston for 27 years until retiring in 2006, says the wording of Subsection B effectively "eliminates marriage in Texas," including common-law marriages.

She calls it a "massive mistake" and blames the current attorney general, Republican Greg Abbott, for allowing the language to become part of the Texas Constitution. Radnofsky called on Abbott to acknowledge the wording as an error and consider an apology. She also said that another constitutional amendment may be necessary to reverse the problem.

"You do not have to have a fancy law degree to read this and understand what it plainly says," said Radnofsky, who will be at Texas Christian University today as part of a five-city tour to kick off her campaign.

'Entirely constitutional’

Abbott spokesman Jerry Strickland said the attorney general stands behind the 4-year-old amendment.

"The Texas Constitution and the marriage statute are entirely constitutional," Strickland said without commenting further on Radnofsky’s statements. "We will continue to defend both in court."

A conservative leader whose organization helped draft the amendment dismissed Radnofsky’s position, saying it was similar to scare tactics opponents unsuccessfully used against the proposal in 2005.

"It’s a silly argument," said Kelly Shackelford, president of the Liberty Legal Institute in Plano. Any lawsuit based on the wording of Subsection B, he said, would have "about one chance in a trillion" of being successful.

Shackelford said the clause was designed to be broad enough to prevent the creation of domestic partnerships, civil unions or other arrangements that would give same-sex couples many of the benefits of marriage.

Radnofsky acknowledged that the clause is not likely to result in an overnight dismantling of marriages in Texas. But she said the wording opens the door to legal claims involving spousal rights, insurance claims, inheritance and a host other marriage-related issues.

"This breeds unneeded arguments, lawsuits and expense which could have been avoided by good lawyering," Radnofsky said. "Yes, I believe the clear language of B bans all marriages, and this is indeed a huge mistake."

In October, Dallas District Judge Tena Callahan ruled that the same-sex-marriage ban is unconstitutional because it stands in the way of gay divorce. Abbott is appealing the ruling, which came in a divorce petition involving two men who were married in Massachusetts in 2006.

Massive error?

Radnofsky, the Democratic nominee in the Senate race against Kay Bailey Hutchison in 2006, said she voted against the amendment but didn’t realize the legal implications until she began poring over the Texas Constitution to prepare for the attorney general’s race. She said she holds Abbott and his office responsible for not catching an "error of massive proportions."

"Whoever vetted the language in B must have been asleep at the wheel," she said.

Abbott, a former state Supreme Court justice who was elected attorney general in 2002, has not indicated whether he will seek re-election and is known to be interested in running for lieutenant governor. Ted Cruz, who served as solicitor general under Abbott, is running for attorney general in the Republican primary.

ZU Flats, a running ZU comic proposal

So I have no idea where to put this. It didn't quite fit well in the community section, and it'd get no traffic in the art section, so here it is.
Please read this damn thing, I don't want to deal with people commenting on something they didn't read.

So I had an idea. It was mostly facetious at first, but it might actually be fun.
I had an idea to make a comic about ZU, highlighting anything ridiculous that goes on around here, and including in-jokes that certain groups of members would understand. The concept would be an endlessly tall apartment building, inside of which are the members of ZU. It�s sort of a sitcom-turned-comic� a sitcomic, if you will. I decided to call it �ZU Flats�.

I�ve come up with a quick logo for it, also.

The thing is that I barely know anybody on this site, so if I just did this myself with the few people on the forums I talk to often, it�d be pretty stale. So I thought it might be fun for it to be a community thing. I�d need other members� help in thinking up content for the comic, since there are many popular members here that everyone knows except me, and it�d be odd to have a ZU comic without staples of the site.

I suppose it could be that people besides me could draw strips for it as well, but I was kinda hoping I�d handle that, since I need to find some way to force myself to practice in Flash more and it�d be more consistent that way anyway. But the problems I�d need help with besides the content is also how to depict people. I dunno what anyone looks like, but people are more often recognized by their avatars as well�and not everyone has a humanoid avatar (some have text, for example). So maybe the community could help iron out these details.

I think, however, that being able to make fun of not only others but yourself should be mandatory. Otherwise this wouldn�t be very good-natured.
I made a really quick (and I stress �really quick�) example comic featuring myself (solely to break the ice and give a demonstration of what I�m talking about).

So, what do you guys think? Could this make for a fun on-going community �project�? (I say that in quotes because I doubt it�d be any sort of consistently-released thing� less of a community project and more of a fun community undertaking, really.)

TL;DR/MAIN POINTS

I want to make a running ZU comic.
I want to do the art, but if enough other people want to (and are decent enough), I suppose they can.
Since I barely know anyone around the forums, I need help from other members to decide who and what should be in some strips, how they are portrayed, et cetera.
I'm not going to take every single stupid idea anyone throws at me-- it should be something the community as a whole would agree with or find amusing.
This is lighthearted, so being able to make fun of others but mostly yourself is MANDATORY. This is sort of a community-wide "roast".

I'm not really sure how to organize this, but for now, let's just wing it.
If there is enough interest, we should all start generally discussing what we should do with this comic.

There are some posts about it in this thread, where it was originally proposed.

I made its own thread, though, so as not to further clutter that thread, as that's not really what it's for.

Also, this isn't an "official community project", so it's not going to be organized really, and it's not going to be released consistently as far as I can tell.

Anyway, the point of this thread is--
Do you like this idea, and do you have any ideas for it beyond "I want to be in it!!"?

The taking of the last name

It has always been tradition that when you get married the wife takes the husbands last name but in recent years some women keep their last name or both husband and wife combine their last names. I was wondering what the fine people of ZU thought about this. Do you think that the wife should take the husband's last name, do you think that its fine that the wife keeps her last name, or do you think its fine to combine the two last names.

I went to the dentist's this morning around 7:00. Just for a minor filling on a cavity. Nothing more. It's really not a big deal. I don't see it as a big deal. I've had worse done there.
About a year ago, I had two molers taken out, and went to play hockey about 3 hours later. But for some odd reason, today when I went for something as minor as a filling, I passed out on the sidewalk outside the office after my appointment. Then, after that on the way home, apparently I had a seizure, but I can't remember much of anything.
I was originally planing on going back to school after my appointment, but I think I've changed my plans a bit.

So, I guess this thread is about two things. The first being how weird is this little event, and thoughts on why it may have happened. The second being your own personal experiences having weird reactions to anything from a minor procedure to a full blown surgery.

My example is fishing in TP. I personally hate fishing. I find it extremely boring, but I spent a lot time fishing in TP! It was a great thing to do when I fancied a break from the main story.

Ah, okay. I'm going into college next year and I have a basic idea of what I want to be doing as a career. However, I'm not quite sure which major that...would be. I just came back from RIT's open house and I'm completely torn.

This might be long, so you can skip this wall of text. The main thing is that I want to draw for video games. As a concept artist or even a main illustrator.

I love games, and I could see myself having loads of fun just developing games. My GPA is high and my math scores are the highest. However...I perfer the artistic side of games over the technical side of games. RIT offers Game Development, and I'm not so sure that's a good choice because...#1 I might not like being on a computer learning codes all day. And #2 getting into the multi-billion video game industry is easier said than done. 800+ people tried to get into the IGM program at RIT and only 100 or so slots are available. Not, good chances for me. (They get free tickets to GDC though. Awesooome!)

When filling out applications I've been signing up for Graphic Design/Art. It just seemed to be a nice mix between art and like...being active in any industry. But when I looked deeper into this choice...It doesn't seem right. I'm not sure if it's something I'd want to do if I can't design for games...@_@ Graphic Design is a good choice though, because it is a much needed career and many companies look for Graphic designers for logos/layouts...

My newest choice is Media Artist. But I don't know much about that either. It seems to be a fair mix between programming and art. When I talked to the professor of game development and the professor of graphic design...they both pointed me towards Media Arts. But from what I know about it...most media artist end up making website layouts with animations and stuff incorporated into...it. I'm not sure if Media arts has a wide outcome of results...

I'm just confused, I'm still a hopeless high school student who doesn't know much about college. I don't know why I turned here, but I'd like a little help on how to pick out...my major.
