How about that? November 19th for US, December 2 for Japan, December 7 for Australia and December 8 for Europe...During those dates Twilight Princess was released. It's been three years and I'm sure it deserves some recognition.

...It doesn't matter if you weren't there for launch. But let's recount the story of you're first day with Twilight Princess.

After preordering the game a month before. My cousin and I stood in front of Toys 'R Us at 6 in the morning. We were the first ones in and we were pretty freakin' excited. When I got my hands on my Nintendo Wii and my copy of Twilight Princess...well I couldn't help but raise them above my head and go "Da da da daaaah!"

Oh, we got home and we were scrambling to open up everything. We couldn't even bother reading the Wii instructions we were so hyped. Pfft, as soon as everything was all hooked up we sat on my bed and watched the opening in awe. My cousin always does the voice acting, lol...she's great.

Anyways as soon as we got control of Link we had a little problem. Both of us had waited over 2 years to get the game in our hands. Both of us were extremely excited and we both HAD to play this game...at the same time. It's tradition. In fact I have many Zelda traditions. Like, after killing a boss, you're not allowed to run...you have to do the slow walk. So. Also...we can't play the game without the other one being there to at least watch. Sooo we solved our little problem when my cousin grabbed the nunchuck and I grabbed the Wiimote. Unfortunately I didn't really get to do anything because Link didn't have a sword yet...:C

Lol, after a few hours playing playing playing, we got out of Ordon (geez...) And suddenly the door bell rings. I answer it, it's my best friend and she's like "@_@ Twilight Princess!?!" And I'm like YEEEAH! And so she joined us...as a spectator. We got stuck in the Forest Temple because SOMEONE...(my cousin) wouldn't check the pole that had the chest hidden ontop of it.

The bomblings were a pain in the butt. In order to left something you can't move the analog...when you press A. Everytime I tried to lift something, my cuz was moving forward making Link roll into the wall or something. xD And then we had issues throwing because when I pressed A...she WASN'T moving forward. It's so strange...just imagine having 2 brains that never knew what the other brain was doing...that's what Link was like. >_>

Wow, on the first day we got all the way to the Fire Temple. Er, Goron Mines. The sumo wrestling was hilarious...we couldn't share the controller for that so we just took turns...because we really couldn't figure out the concept...until I just decided to slap over and over again. Not because it worked, but because I thought it was hilarious. So. Goron Mines. My cousin is moving Link around and falls right into the lava...Link is dying now...so we leave and get a 2 hearts. xD Then I said "Lemme try" and...since this was my first time with a nunchuck...I fell right into the lava too. I seriously...like jumped in the opposite direction of where I thought I was going. Feeling that this was impossible Tiff (my cousin) and I traded the controller over and over and then my best friend...(who can't play Zelda very well...at all) was like "You guys suck" and she took the controller and did it for us.

We stood amazed by the mad skillz...That was really pathetic though, I've never had that problem before or ever again. I do believe we got all the way to Lanayru in Twilight. Then it was like 11 PM and a school night. Was a good night though. I was thinking of just pulling an all nighter.

Your turn.

I'm replaying TP and looking for a way to get to the Temple of Time without beating Snowpeak Ruins yet. Does anyone know of a some sort of glitch (there are thousands of known glitches so there must be something for this) that would allow me to do this? I've already beaten City in the Sky using the "early City in the Sky" trick, which means I have the completed mirror of twilight (the game only checks for the last piece). Basically I need to 1) get to the Door of Time, and 2) open it. The main problem is that I don't have a warp point to the Sacred Grove, and I can't get back into it because once I enter the first room from the Faron Woods entrance all of the doorways in it are sealed and Skull Kid isn't around. So does anyone know of some glitches that might work for this? Thanks

After much pondering. I believe now understand what was the biggest failure of TP as compared to other Zelda titles. And i believe that it is also the reason many others were dissapointed with TP.

It was not the awkward Wii controls. Or the unbelievably easy game.

To me the greatest failure of the game. Was Link.

Sure the guy had a cool new tunic and his visuals were excellent. But he had too much personality. He lacked a relatable persona.

Think back to Ocarina of Time, Link was a child under the impression that he was a Kokiri. He had a back story, of being left by his dying mother in the care of the great deku tree. An orphan.

He is also ridiculed and bullied because of not having a fairy, a point which many children (i was only 8 when i play OoT) can relate to so very easily. Links dramatic story and highly relatable circumstances were part of what made him a hero in so many peoples minds. Because he rose from his small beginings and became the hero of time.

Further more perhaps because the N64 lacked the graphics to implement this, but adult links silent almost byronic hero look and face made him so... Bad ass.

Seriously his angry face and constant silence makes him fit perfectly into that lone wolf, byronic hero persona. And through all of these story telling devices Link was given a personality, a back story, and he was made into every kids hero and aspiration. Or at least mine.

Hell i got earrings because link has them in both ears! He truly was a hero to me as much as Batman or Spiderman is to other children.

In contrast to this however. What did the TP link have going for him? He was a popular young adult in his town. He had no back story and already had a love interest. There is nothign exciting about this. Nothing truly... Relatable. And it does not set Link up to become the epic hero that he was in OoT.

But also because of the graphical capabilities of the Wii and Gamecube, link was also able to show much more expression in his face. Where Link in OoT was a bad ass lonewolf, with a stern look and a silent demeanor. The link of TP smiles MUCH to much. He has worried looks and loses his bad assness. Something which made the OoT Link so very very cool.

Feel free to critique my points. I would love nothing more than an open discussion on the topic of Links personality in this game and others.

Also what was your greatest dissapointment of TP. Or other games?

And finally one last note. I enjoyed TP ^^ quite a bit actually, but this was one of the thing i was let down by.

If you know any modders or are a modder, and you know how to mod the Wii, now's the time to stand up.

We can mod TP to not suck (if you like TP, don't post unless it's for friendly encouragment. You'll derail the thread) and become quite awesome. We can adress each of the complaints and I think I know how to do that.

The reason I don't do this myself is because, sadly, I can't program. I do play games, however and I think with a couple of minor edits (and maybe a major feature addition or two) we could make TP worthy of all those good reviews it keeps getting.

Find who you can. I doubt we'll get sued with all the mods for Brawl out there. Bring them here so we can get started on TP: Master Quest (the mod edition).

Because apparently, certain individuals around here think I'm dumb to think so.

I respect that they don't agree with me and that they like Argorok, but I hated the stupid dragon more than any other boss in Zelda. He annoyed me and made me think of Helmasaur King from ALttP the whole time. I was disgusted by the unoriginality.

Now I'll admit my memory on him is fuzzy, but what I do remember should suffice.

Both bosses had you destroy the armor guarding a jewel and then attack it. Both had fire attacks that you had to dodge before being able to strike the jewel. Both have some kind annoying part of their body that kept hitting me. Helmasaur King's tail and Argorok's...wow, I think it was the tail here too. Can't be positive. I'd have to battle him for myself again.

The one difference here was flying around on Peahats with two hookshot-like contraptions against Argorok, which was boring anyway. That was all.

I just got Wind Waker from my cousin and have come to what is probably the most annoying obstacle in the entire LoZ series-Sneaking through Forsaken Fortress without a sword, and i'm sure i'm not the only one who thinks this section of the game is too unforgiving. First of all, in Phantom Hourglass, and indeed nearly every stealth game in existance, you are given a chance to escape before you are captured. Not in Wind Waker, the moment you are noticed by a Moblin-you're caught. No Safe Zones, no Water, No nothing. Sure they're not Phantom's or Killer Bees, but you should be able to escape. Secondly, the Moblins aren't the only hazard you must face. There are those stupid rats that drop down from the ceiling, knock the barrel off your head, alert the Moblins to your presence and start giggling away to themselves as you get thrown in a cell. Third, relating to the first one, Link-does the Triforce of COURAGE Mean anything to you? Don't just put your hands up, run away or something! You're better that, you wouldn't give up, but no, you just had to go down quietly. In my opinion, that isn't how any Link should act, Pre-Teen or not.
Thoughts please, i'm open to Constructive Criticisim.

What do you find more satisfying? Your first playthrough of your favorite Zeldas...or a replay of your favorite Zeldas? After a few years my first playthough gets a bit fuzzy.

I find that when I replay a Zelda for the first time, I notice new things about the main quest and I get to enjoy the game, already knowing how awesome it is. I tend to mess around and do more challenges when I'm replaying. And I'm generally a lot less judgemental, saying how I'm replaying because I want to revisit a game again.

But on the other side, nothing compares to the unknowingness of playing a new Zelda for the first time. It's all so new, you know? I've replayed the crap out of OoT, TWW and TP and I find that the magic I had during my first playthrough is disappearing. @_@

So what's better...your first playthrough or a replay?

If you've read my review of Twilight Princess, you'll know I disliked Wolf Form. It wasn't very efficient and when we had to change into it, I thought it was a bit of a pain, as well as the places where you turned into the Wolf Form.

At least until a while ago, I realised two things.

#1: When I was going over to Hyrule to go see Zelda for the second time (you know, with Midna looking really bad), I had to sneak through Telma's bar and then into a section of sewers that required a little puzzle to get through. After seeing Zelda, I realised something: I had fun. As Wolf Link (I previously thought that was impossible).

#2: In a reply to one of the more critical posts of my review, I stated that 'no transformation is supposed to be designed for combat'! What I didn't realise at the time is that my statement includes Wolf Link. Wolf Link isn't designed, no matter how much the energy field would like to disagree with me, designed for combat.

And since my main complaint about Wolf Form was how bad it was at combat, I would like to withdraw that complaint and give an apology. So...sorry, everyone.

There! Now, I came to the opinion that Wolf Link was designed for Stealth and Tracking. Stealth because of the sneaking through Telma's bar level, the way he latches on to some enemies (kind like he's grabbing them and tearing off their necks) and tracking, because, well...the scents.

This does not, however, excuse Nintendo from some bad mistakes. One, the energy field. It clashes horribly with Wolf Link's role (a stealthy hunter) by giving it an edge in combat. I recently went through the game, deciding not to use Wolf Form to open portals. This made opening portals fairly challenging, and it increased my fun levels. If Wolf didn't have that energy field, opening the portals would be harder...and thus helping the difficulty complaint.

Two: The way they handled the scents. You see, IMO, Wolf Link is supposed to be a tracker. You'd think that, instead of forgetting scents as he came across new ones, he'd be able to switch between scents as he wished. I also think that the Poe's scent would work much more than just in the spirit temple. I thought, after getting it, that I'd be able to use it to track down the rest of the poes around Hyrule Kingdom. No such luck. Also, a place they could've used scents is when we were hunting for those blasted light bugs, instead of displaying them on our mini-map. Like if you killed a bug then learned it's scent after you got the tear, and then when you come to a new group of bugs, you could just switch to the scent of bugs and start hunting. I think that would help those levels not be so repetetive as it makes it so you don't already know where you're going but are following a trail. Because, for me, following scents was always fun, and now I can see it.

Three: Another fairly crucial piece of Wolf Link, as mentioned above, is the requirment of stealth. The early sections of Wolf Link had this, with you sneaking around the village, trying to find a sword and shield. And then later, when you have to sneak around Telma's Bar to help Midna. Incidentally, I had the most Wolf Link fun while I was doing this. But there wasn't really any stealth after that, what with Link's ability to change around, so I don't have any complaints. Any more stealth levels would've felt unnessescary and a little repetetive. So, yeah. Good Job, Nintendo. You made the right decision: Just the correct amount of Stealth levels. :)

So, yeah: The complaint about how jerky Wolf Link's combat is doesn't really apply because, IMO it wasn't designed for it. Though I would've liked to see more scent tracking (and the ability to remember different scents), though if you're willing to make it more challenging to open portals by using regular Link, I think you'll (the rest of the anti's like me) be pleasantly suprised. Needless to say, I look upon Wolf Link with far more favor than I previously did. His ability to dig and hop great distances now has a bit more leeway with me.

And if this doesn't quite sound like a defense article: Let me tell you: This is a big leap for me. I find Wolf Link acceptable now, as opposed to completely disgusting prior.
